The story behind Howling Crest was interesting to say in the last. It explained a number of things regarding the place as well.
Over the past few days, Shun had been recovering nicely. There were still a few remnants of his illness and he wasn't completely better, but he was doing much better now than he was before. The bumps and bruises he had received were pretty much gone as well.
At the request to pick up some groceries for the elderly couple, he nodded and took the seeds from Jenna. He caught that shake of a head that Mitsu gave, but he nodded in turn. He recalled them well enough. With these things in mind, he took her by the hand and started on out the door. He was fairly curious as to what the rest of this town was like exactly. The last days had been mostly bed ridden and he really didn't leave the house at all even if he was up and about.

Mitsu still had a light bandage around her head but her hair mostly covered it from view. Other than a deep cut and a bit of bruising which had began to fade she hadn't been injured too badly. Mostly it was catching up on blood loss which hadn't taken more than a day or two.
With the basket in tow Mitsu followed Shun closely as he lead her in the direction of the market. It was interesting to finally see how the rest of the town looked beyond what she had seen through the windows. The buildings were large and the streets were mostly lined in cobblestone. It looked like the majority of the inhabitants were also werewolves as Shun might have guessed. Large creatures in human form or otherwise. Mitsu took them all in curiously as they went, looking at the signs of the shops or the large lodge as they passed. It was still fairly cold outside, even with the majority of the snow being cut off and because of that many of the buildings had fireplaces and torches lighting the fronts. It cast a warm glow on almost everything drawing them to the warmth as they passed.
A few times along the way Mitsu paused to look in the windows of the shops to see what they had. It looked like there were a lot of self made businesses which made sense and most of the stores were practical wares. Warm clothing, food, supplies, and so on.
"It's so strange....to really be here." Mitsu finally said. "I feel like I'm in a dream."

The town was much bigger than he expected. Literally. And as he suspected, it was occupied mostly by werewolves from the looks of things. While walking along, he looked about curiously, taking in their surroundings. It was an interesting place to say in the very least.
"No kidding... but I can tell you that it isn't."
He'd know if it was. At least. He should. Lucid and all.
Shun walked along to make their way towards the market so they could pick up the goods that they were sent to grab. Though, he wasn't rushing with it, wanting to get more of a feel of this place.
"Do you suppose anyone here knew your father?" he asked.

Mitsu was rather used to Shun's matter of fact phrasings and just left what he said at that. His question had her eyes growing a little wide though, her ears falling back as she looked around. This place was so big...would there be anyone who knew her dad? She only knew of the places he had gone and a few of his friend's names. Would that be enough to find out more information?
"I...I don't know."
She tried to sort of some of the things she remembered. "H-He used to go to a place called....called." She had to think for a moment before it came to her. "Red Moon Tavern. He used to say they had the best warm cider and hot carob you could get." Though Mitsu had never had either so she had no idea what they would be like.

Interesting tavern name. Though, it made sense given that there were so many lycans here. Squeezing her hand for the moment, Shun thought on it, then turned his head to face her a little more as he spoke.
"Maybe tonight or in a day or so we can try to find it. The old couple can't keep us in forever," he noted. He figured that Jenna would let them go out and about on their own, and if needed they could even try finding an inn to stay at so they didn't impose on the elderly couple the entire time they were in town. Unlike their other stops, he had a feeling they'd stay here a little longer than just a day after they've fully recovered.
"They probably know where it is even."

"Maybe.." Mitsu said softly. There was something about it all that made her uneasy. Like it was too good to be true that they really managed to get here. Somehow she felt that if she really started to look she wasn't going to find anything to prove her dad had really been here. Like it had all been a lie. She was afraid of those stories being shattered but at the same time she wanted to know and learn more about her parents or if she even had family still. It could be possible couldn't it?
As they drew closer to the market Mitsu took her time to peek into the windows of a few other stores. The one she was looking at now looked like it specialized in the curing and drying of meats of all kinds.

Shun could swear there was something eating at Mitsu, but he couldn't tell what it was exactly. Furrowing his brow, he watched her for a bit, then focused on getting them to the market. It hadn't taken them too long before they reached it. Once they were there, he looked at some of the stores they passed up, noting the one that she was looking at specifically.
"..Jerky.." he mused while looking at some of the things on display through the window, "They look pretty good. I think I'll grab some to give to Hel. I'm sure she would enjoy it."
She was a meat fanatic after all. And it could work as a chrismastival gift, he figured.
"I could buy you some as well if you'd like."

Mitsu was still staring intently at the large pieces of dried meat in the window on display but it was easy enough to tell she had heard Shun when her tail began to wag. She smiled faintly staring in the window before looking back at Shun. "Do you want to get some now or go to the market first?"
It wasn't like the meat wouldn't keep, it was dried after all but Shun could have meant on the way back or even before they left.

"Let's pick some up on the way back," he said quietly, taking note that she was staring quite intently at some of the meat hanging in the window. Shun enjoyed jerky himself, but he wasn't super crazy about it. He knew that Mitsu would appreciate it more, and that wasn't to say he couldn't have a little as well.
Nodding along with that, he continued on along. Most of the stuff would be easy enough to find. But he'd need Mitsu's help for the bacon.
"Do any of the store say Caelan's name?" he asked. This guy must have some really good bacon or something. Either that or he had a deal with Jenna.
Something.

Mitsu reluctantly left the jerky store to follow Shun back through the market in search of the things they needed to pick up for Jenna. Now that she was on the hunt for bacon she kept alert looking for a store under the name of Caelan.
"I d-don't think I -oh!" She pointed up ahead at a small butcher shop tucked in behind a fruit and vegetable stand. Caelan's Meats was written in fine curvy letters above the door and Mitsu made her way toward it. Waiting for Shun to enter first she immediately began to gap at the glass display that stood between her and the various meats the place had to offer.
Behind the counter Shun would find another large werewolf with his hair tied back and the bristles of hair along his face. He had probably shaved that morning and his beard was fighting against him. "What can I get ya lovely folks today?"

Shun waited patiently for Mitsu to pinpoint where Caelan's store was. When she did, he went on over and entered, taking a quick glance around before moving up to the counter.
"We need some bacon," he said simply. That was what they were here for after all.
The butcher seemed to be pretty small, and he was still curious why there was a specific request to get meat from this guy and no one else, so he was still looking about to try and see if there was anything that stood out in particular.

"Ah, if its bacon you need would you prefer hickory smoked, applewood, honey glazed, brown sugar cured, or just plain old bacon." He set out the different types of bacon in front of him. All slabs that needed to be cut to order. He waited to see what Shun would need before he got started.
Mitsu's attention had come around and she watched the man pull out each slab of bacon with keen interest. She tried to peek over the counter, her nose working double time to get a sniff. As far as which type of bacon to get she had no clue all she remembered Jenna saying was bacon and nothing more.
The man grinned at the wolf girl watching her reaction to everything he was doing. "Quite the cute little kitsune, ya are."
Kitsune? Mitsu made a pouty face trying to tell the man with her eyes that she was no kitsune! She was a wolf just...smaller...than everyone here.

"..."
Jenna hadn't specified what kind of bacon she wanted. The Reaper stared at the slabs of meat set out before him. Well they looked good, though he didn't know what to go with. Perhaps plain should work. After all, she had just said bacon and nothing more.
"Regular bacon will do," he said before pausing as the guy at the counter called Mitsu a Kitsune.
"...She's a werewolf," he correctly flatly. She didn't look anything like a kitsune to him. She even only had one tail!

"Oh? Well, I'll be. You're the cutest little pup I've ever seen." He grinned with amusement. Amusement Mitsu did not share. He paid her no mind though as he nodded to Shun and set the other slabs aside until he had only the plain bacon left. With it being the only thing left he reached for his belt and pulled out a long sharp knife and began to made quick precise cuts making thick strips of bacon with each go.
This was when Mitsu's demeanor changed. Her eyes focused on the knife in the man's hands her face paling to almost paper white. All of a sudden she seemed unsteady and she took a few careful steps away from the counter. She could hear her heart struggling to work in her fright, her head throbbing from the sudden stress. When she backed up and found the door at her back she quickly excused herself and stepped outside.
There she stood her heart suddenly kicking it into overdrive and she had to place a hand against her chest to keep it from beating out of her rib cage and bounding away.

Shun twitched slightly, not sure if that was a compliment or demeaning to Mitsu. He didn't say anything though, and just waited while the man went to slice up the bacon for them. It was then that he noticed there was a shift in the girl's mood, when he realized she stepped away from the counter. Turning, he saw that she looked scared. Almost panicking. Furrowing his brow, he was about to ask what was wrong, but she retreated too quickly.
The Reaper frowned and looked around, trying to figure out what had scared her. He was going to need to ask her once he was done in here.
One thing for certain, he was concerned about what had happened here just now.
