Romero smirked up at the silhouette that accused him of cockiness. He had no problem with playing up the ego if it would lead this joker into an easily exploited attack. A hasty attack, executed without planning, was not only easy to dodge, but it also gave a good measure of how strong an enemy could be. Venezuela had used that tactic before to great aplomb, and Luis knew that too. “Verdad?” he asked mockingly. “Then why don’t you get off your high rock and show yourself, hombre? How rude of you to whisper in our ears all day, haul us out here in the middle of the night, and demand we hand over our friend without so much as introducing yourself. And we don’t even know if you have Elpis’ good health in mind. How about you get your a** down here for us to kick?” He ignored Massachusetts’ call for him because he could barely hear it and didn’t want to divert his attention from an enemy he was certain was about to explode.

Venezuela dodged the attack easily, ducking and sidestepping away from the flames and hauling Elpis to the ground as well. He quickly bounded back up onto his feet, returning the goddess to hers as well. “Ja! Is that all you’ve got?” he asked mockingly. “Some demigod you are, if that’s the best you can do!” After retracting his sword arm to throw his saber through his enemy’s neck, Romero thought better of it and picked up a heavy rock, throwing at at him instead. It would be far better to test the enemy first before attacking directly.

Claire found herself being dragged by Leah to the beach with both a speed and a strength that was surprising for the small state. Even more irritating was the nerve that the state had to call her a sister. While they were close in both geographical location and history, Claire considered the state to be more of a cousin than anything else.

It seemed that they had all arrived at the beach just in time to partake in a battle. Since Claire had nothing to gain from the battle, it seemed, she retreated to the cover of some large boulders, where she could watch the struggle but hopefully not be seen.

Argentina didn't like the sound of "many have tried but failed. But at least this guy wasn't really a god, which meant he wasn't invincible, which meant he can be beaten. With his blade in his hand, he charged at the man, hoping he could at least scratch him.

Romero ignored his brother's and Leah's disparaging comments about his tactics because they certainly seemed to be working as well this time as before. While their enemy was distracted with Luis, he darted in from the other side and swung his blade downward into his arm, intentionally missing the main artery to prove his point. Romero's blade came very close to slicing it open, though, and he leaped back just as the enemy turned around to face him.

"All bark and no bite, I see!" he exclaimed as he retreated beside Leah.

"Ack!" Luis Esteban fell face first into the sand. He spit out the sand that went into his mouth as he fell "Bleh! Sand tastes awful." he got back up on his feet. He saw that his blade glowed, saying that it'll make I stronger "Gracias, but it's not magic that makes a weapon strong, but the warrior holding it, so it's not necessary to enchant it." That's just how he felt. Now that he was up, he swung his sword at the mage.
