I'm not sleepy at all for some reason, and truthfully, it's kind of hard to be worried about ghosts when one of my pokemon is a Ghost type." Servine scoffed at Nolan for being so indecisive, but she wasn't so very vain that she had to have a nickname. But while the trainers talked about Eevees, she yawned so hard that Nolan returned Servine back to her pokeball, bidding her goodnight, so she could get back to sleep. He swapped her for the Litwick, knowing it was going to be a search through the dark, so all the light would help. Candlejack immediately hopped onto Nolan's palm, making himself at home again. "So, let's get started. We should stick together so we can make sure we're not searching in the same places. I'll meet you out there." Nolan walked no more than five steps from the city limits when a herd of Zigzagoon rushed by his feet, startling him. One of them was even orange, but he ignored it, remembering that he was only out and about looking for one certain type of pokemon. Post 288 CoverFossil: 6 He saw an Abra, but he let it teleport away. The Great Female Eevee Hunt has begun. Tsuki kept the area dimly illuminated with his yellow circle lights as he walked around his old home. It was just a couple days ago he was here, a masterless Eevee. And now he was on an adventure. They passed a couple more rodents, including Romeo whom Chael was all too glad to rush past. That Sentret was beyond annoying with how he was in love with Fear. "Well at least Pidgeys aren't nocturnal." Chael would say in relief. It was true, both he and every member of that line hated the other with a burning passion. Wondering what Tsuki's Hidden Power was, he had Tsuki use it. An orb of yellow energy with energy sparks flew away from his front, after stomping the ground with his front paws. Electric type. There really were some strange and fantastic pokemon out here once one really started looking. Nolan spotted a Hoothoot sleeping in a tree, shiny and everything. Then several more Rattata, and another Zigzagoon that fell behind the rest of the herd. Odd. Candlejack seemed the most interested in the Hoothoot ... hooting at them, having never been in this corner of Etura before. The Hoothoot blinked those big eyes and tilted its head side to side, keeping time. "It really is different out here after dark." Nolan mused. "Erm, so what exactly does Hidden Power do?" "Isn't Hidden Power a special move? I think all of my pokemon are more of Physical attackers, except Servine and Candlejack. Well, that's what I learned reading about their stats. I guess I could find out what their type would be before I teach it to them." Nolan walked a little farther, and suddenly had a brilliant thought. "I have an idea. Just so long as our pokemon stay in sight of each other, we could cover even more ground. I bet we could even make a line from beach to beach. Then we can do a whole search from one end to another, and nothing should theoretically get past our notice." Nolan paused a second. "Um, I saw this method used searching for a body, and a, um, for a lost kid that was from Saffron." To start, Nolan let all his pokemon out, save Dosu, and Candlejack stayed with him, oddly a ghost being his comfort in the darkness. So with Valor, Cocoa, Aron, and Servine all lined up, despite how sleepy they were, Nolan made sure he could see and hear each of his pokemon, and then they started searching again. Flushing out a flock of sleeping Starly, Nolan knew this was going to work out. (( Edit: Noooo ... so close to my Magic Bounce Espeon. I could cry. Just cry. Well, screw Eevee anyway! )) Hoothoot and more Hoothoot. Nolan was starting to wonder if his curse was not Pidgey yet tons of Hoothoots. That shiny one must have been following him, but he wasn't going to catch any more pokemon. No more of that. Not unless he was going to keep them and train them for serious, Nolan wasn't going to catch any more pokemon 'just because'. Although, he was happy he got Aron on a whim. The iron-eater got along great with Servine. Sighing, Nolan stopped, hearing something from over by Chael's end. Did he find a second Eevee after all this time? Lucky duck, Nolan had never met even one in the wild, but would he catch that one either? Living too much in his head, Nolan snapped out of it when he nearly ran into a tree. Candlejack giggled silently at him. If the Candle was leading, never would such a thing happen, yet then again, Candlejack would lead Nolan straight to the Ghost World if he could. He was all too happy to Return the favor. Haha, punny. She flew back, only to be pegged with a Pokeball and sent to the PC. They did it. He caught another Eevee. Oh Gage will be so jealous. Returning all but his dark type, Chael asked "You want to look for anything? New trainers will probably swarm here tomorrow." The boy figured they weren't newbies so much anymore. They had about a fourth of the badges needed, soon to be a third. Despite being happy that his friend had such great luck and caught his female Eevee to compliment the first, Nolan couldn't help but feel jealous. But he soon said as much, as well as his only consolation, "Fancy capture there, my good man." He said in a prim and proper tone, just playing around, but then went back his usual way of speaking. "I guess I would like an Eevee, but I can't carry seven pokemon with me. If it was possible, sure. I mean, just knowing that my Ninjask is in the PC makes me feel guilty." Returning all his pokemon, except for Candlejack again for light purposes, Nolan just sighed. He still wasn't tired, but he was feeling down and out for some reason. Probably was the Candle to blame, eating his life force again. "But nah, we don't need to search for any more Eevee. In fact, I kind of want to get going to the next city and the next gym. "Just wait until you meet a legendary Pokemon." he said, trying to make Nolan feel better. In fact, he had an item only the Champion themself owned. That's how rare it was. With a shrug, he said "My mom works at the Daycare so she let's the Pokemon in my PC stretch their legs." With the two Pokemon lighting the way, Chael asked "I've been meaning to ask. What's the Pokemon Ranger's name?" But Nolan would get another chance later at least. Chael still had that fossil that needed reviving. Then there was the nursery. "Well, first I have to be lucky to get close enough to a Legendary pokemon at all, but I get what you mean. I have one 100% throw to catch anything I want. I bet people would kill for that chance. Probably literally, great. But thanks, and my parents do help take care of my pokemon, if I ask." For the record, Nolan needed to contact his parents again about that, but he bet he would need Ninjask again. Even though Nolan didn't think he would battle much with his Ninja, he was incredible at delivering messages. "Oh, and the Ranger's name is Lukas." Pulling out his handy-dandy Etura map from his messenger bag, Nolan unfolded it to get a good idea of where to go next. Holding Candlejack up closer - ah, yes, the depths of the desert. And here was still without a pokemon that knew a Water type move. If only Gyarados could fly, being a Flying type, it would be no sweat at all getting to Addobe Town. He'd just have to make sure to get a canteen ... several canteens, a hat, and wear light clothing. There will be a lot of sweat, but at least he had Cocoa who could help him out in the desert. "I bet we can get as far as Addobe before sunrise. That's actually not a bad idea. It'll be cold in the desert at night, but we won't sweat to death. What do you say, Chael? Pull an all-nighter and we'll be at the next gym before we know it. I mean, there is the Ruins, but I don't really need anything more from there." Looking again over the map and its reference to all the gyms. "For that fact, once we defeat Addobe and pass Asude, we can go into the Forest and circle right back again to the Ruins to stock up again. Unless you need to go get your fossil pokemon sooner?" She had wanted to know EVERYTHING. She had nearly choked him for fighting that elite four guy. Good thing she was on another continent! Grabbing a couple of long sticks, he said "That's actually a good idea. We don't need to worry about predators since we have about twelve monsters total. And we can sleep during the day, with a sleeping bag over us as a tent with sticks holding it up." That way they wouldn't get so dehydrated. Plus they had Argos, who knew Water Gun. Thinking for a moment, he decided "The Aide can hold onto it for a bit longer. I won't really train the dinosaur until after the journey anyways." With that he started to head out, Tsuki excited about night travel. Speaking of Ninjask ... "When we get to the Fort, let me drop by the pokecenter real fast. I want to send Ninjask with a message to Lukas about where I'm off to. I kind of, uh, just ran off without saying anything. But I was being chased by that Yamask, so he probably thinks I'm dead or something by now." Walking on with Litwick floating at his side, Nolan nodded and grinned for once when Chael mentioned a tent. "I actually have a canvas we can use, so you can use your sleeping bag for something else. I bought it sometime ago to fix my no-tent situation. Gotta think ahead and be prepared." Unless Chael had something to say between Route 1 and Route 3, Nolan would walk on in silence, just letting his mind wander. An idea so extravagant, the young Seedot's ex trainer saw it as to better himself and to create better friendships with his Pokemon. If one was defeated, you released them. It was to keep close to them. For knowing you could lose them at any moment made your bond even stronger. Wind blew in the grass types face as he stood in the middle of a route. He was looking for a trainer to catch him and train him. There'd be no fighting back. The male NEEDED to be caught. And all the while, his trainer would live through Locke. If Locke was defeated, he stopped being the trainer's Pokemon. Only those with the strongest will could forge an invincible battler. That's what Locke was looking for. He needed to back to the challenge. Even if the other Pokemon weren't involved, it was a part of him now and forever. ***** OOC Info

Being a Seedot meant you were relatively defenseless. He needed to evolve to get by. Being a Shiftry gave no appeal to the male acorn. Being a Nuzleaf was all he wanted for now. Once he could fight back properly, he'd be set. Then he could take on anything and anyone. His goal in life was to be the ultimate battler. To be able to defeat anyone on a one on one match. Taking on a full party of fully trained Pokemon was foolish. However, being able to defeat anyone on fair grounds was a possible goal. Until then, he focused. With a trainer he could evolve faster, but he'd make due. Nothing was impossible. However he required a trainer for another reason: he needed a TM. Only one. To be able to use Energy Ball. He could use other moves be learning himself. ***** OOC Info
