Jerry was trembling, scrambling back to try to wave the swarms away as they nibbled and bit and chewed and stung. Wash's prayer cut through the madness, and his stomach clenched.

That's right...

Plagues of Locusts, Plagues of Flies, Plagues of boils don't think don't over think waters running with blood, his head was spinning, just be calm, just be calm-

As Wash covered him, he spotted Harrison crumpled to the ground. Oh... oh no- was... was he knocked out? dead? While his friend shielded some of the swarms away, Jerry shifted his grip on Roar to fumble towards his fallen comrad, hauling Harrison up by the arm, "Hey... hey! H-hey! H-harrison! Harrison wake up! Oh god oh god, Just... just p-p-please don't be dead, C-candace will kill us b-both, come on, buddy! P-please don't be dead..." He didn't look dead, he was breathing, and there was color in his face. He tried to see clearly through his ruined lenses, but he couldn't be sure... he gave the fallen moon a few frantic pats and a good slap to be sure.

He glanced around momentarily to see if the moon hunter was set to join him, used to the backup in the desert but not sure what to expect here. As he looked around, he caught sight of him slumping over.

"Oh <******** out cold in a room SWARMING WITH BUGS.

It was not a ******** good idea. At all.

He backed up to stand right alongside the other hunter, Tracey in hand. Okay. He wasn't a moon. But maybe he could pretend. Just ******** pretend long enough to do this.

He didn't even notice if Jerry actually managed to hit anything - his shield arm sank a little and his eyes grew wide.

He couldn't stop staring at that little fleck of white. Was that...oh God, oh God, that was bone...

Bix had stopped yelling but he was still bright red and the vein pulsed on the side of his neck. He was taking hard rasping breaths but his body was amazingly responsive. He took lined up shot after lined up shot, the motion in his hand fluid and repetitive. It was like he'd spaced out and abandoned himself only to doing this one task and he intended to do it well.

Julie, who was his leader, someone he wanted to surpass. Julie who made those special cookies and treats. Julie who always smiled.

"Julie, It's a joke right? Your not really dead right?" He choked on a breath, reaching out for her. "Your just.....playing around right?" He couldn't believe it, like ********, ********, I can't attack...I can't attack her." Dakota pulled up Chama defensively, he wouldn't attack her...He wouldn't.

Chama had other ideas as the fire flared around her.

There was no time to think, Jerry dropped Harrison, glancing around at the curling smoky bodies of insects around them before firing wildly.

Through the shouts and cries and the drone of the bugs, Jordan caught a voice reciting familiar words.

"In company with Christ, Who died and now lives, may they rejoice in Your kingdom, where all tears are wiped away," he joined in, choked by sorrow and comforted all at once. He was lapsed, doubting, might never return to the faith of his childhood, but in the chaotic horror of the battle, the prayer was a touchstone to steady his nerves.

When he struck again, he caught only a few bugs, but Ferros's rumbling, echoing snarl told him that it had been enough; they could do this.

"I-I..." He swallowed. He couldn't remember the rest - all he could see was her tiny body swaying limply in the distance. He prayed silently. Whatever they did to you, I hope you didn't feel it. She'd been such a sweet girl...

But a resonant voice carried on his prayer. He grasped Sally firmly with shaking hands.

They would save her body. God would save her soul.

In spite of the slapping and sudden close-range bazooka blasts, Harrison was out cold.

And then Jerry was there too, by his side, helping keep Harrison covered. All of them they were a team. It was chaos, chaos and grief but they held together. Somehow they held together.

And then there was a prayer. Oh ******** hell. It was the prayer. From the funeral. It took him back. Took him back too fast too hard.

He'd lost everything. He wouldn't lose everything again. Sometimes it was the small things that counted and right here and now what ******** counted were this ragtag band. His comrades and friends.

He refused to move from where he stood, killing anything that came within range.

Ami's eyes scanned the chaos that was the sahara. Julie was still there, lifeless. It was creepy as ********. Leader or no leader, no one deserved something so hideous and disgusting. Ami didn't mind blood and guts, but she got queasy looking over at Julie.

So she focused her attentions elsewhere. Through the storm and the locusts, she noticed Wilson fending off bugs. She quickly ran over and assumed the "defensive" stance Marcus had taught her before they left. She wasn't doing it very well, but she was trying dammit.

"Wilson are you okay?" she said over the buzz of the bugs. Could he even hear her? Also, why did wilson have a mask ...

They kept coming. Frustrated, Wilson decided to kick a few of the bugs with his boots rather than use his weapon. It’s like they’re endless! [Just keep fighting, Youngin’. There’s an end to them somewhere.] There was a familiar flash of long hair in the corner of his eyes and he turned to look at Ami. “I’m fine!” he answered. Grinning behind the mask, he awkwardly patted Ami on the shoulder (cannons made all pats awkward) before attacking the swarm with more gas.

Aleister was doing his best to help beat the bugs back and soon he heard the words of others, prayers? There was a small frown, something that he'd never really known much about. He never went with his parents, for fear they'd try to pull the exorcist on him or something.

However, there was one thing he knew.... something he'd heard once on television while his parents were watching a gospel thing. Having found it on the internet and read it several times. It was.... fitting.

"Weep not, Weep not, She is not dead; She's resting in the bosom of Jesus." He swung the blitzball at bugs trying to attack him. "Heart-broken husband--weep no more; Grief-stricken son--weep no more; Left-lonesome daughter --weep no more; She only just gone home...."
