"Good," said Gale, satisfied with their answers. His gaze swept across the field, and landed, once more, on a couple kissing - only not the couple he had seen before, but an entirely different one - one that made him pause slightly, his face coloring just a little.
Is this how it's going to be like? he thought. All of us...saying goodbye like it's going to be the last time we ever see each other. Everyone is going this far because we don't want to leave anything unsaid, anything undone.
What regrets are we going to have in the end?
He did not want to have any regrets.
Gale pulled his phone from his pocket and turned it on.Kaiyumi TEXT TO EVA:

There was a pause while he studied the words on the screen, his lips pressing together.
Somewhere behind him a whistle blew. Gale finished typing the text, and sent it before he would regret it. He tucked the phone back into his pocket and turned to Marcus, Bix, Tedan, and the rest.
"Time to go," he said, and began walking.

Still looking at Jordan, he shrugged. It was a small shrug. "Ready for the A-word? Got two bandaids, two swords, and both my boots laced. Ready as I'm going to get, I guess. ...I'll be careful."
He looked up at the whistle.
"See you on the other side."

Candace had shamelessly watched Harrison and Jordan with a smug smirk, proud of her buddy for finally getting something he deserved. Good on him, good on him.
The whistle got her attention and her heart felt like it stopped. Oh god..oh god she wasn't rea--NO! She was fine! She was ready! She could do this! Candace closed her eyes and took a deep, calming breath before turning on her heel and hurrying toward the portal. She wouldn't die. They'd be fine. They'd be fine.

Sherry was in the process of double checking everything again. It didn't help to calm her down, but she did it anyway.
It was almost a relief when they finally got the signal to head out. "Here we go," Sherry muttered to herself. Then she flashed a smile at her new friends and headed toward the portal.

Wilson threw Deryk an uneasy grin and nodded. "Yes." He took a deep breath, watching a couple of the other trainees leave first before he followed after them.

Vanessa was actually a little suprised to hear Wilson mention her smile. For a moment, dare I say it, she might've actually looked like a normal teenage girl. Her mouth's corners turned up again, and Volt almost sensed, what, some kind of embarassment, and she said graciously, "Ahh, thank you. It's really not that great, but thank you. I...I'll try to if we all survive this."
Clearly Wilson was a miracle worker. Either that or the apocalpyse really was coming.
She gave a slight nod when Wilson voiced his thoughts on the matter. "I suppose indulging in such treats would be...appropriate, to celebrate our survival. As long as it doesn't interfere with our ability to train and survive, I suppose I would have no problem with it." Fine, they could have cake if they survived. Vanessa would just make sure to train until she was satisifed she'd worked it off afterward.
But for now, apparently, it was time to go. "Good luck." She said to the death trainee, turning to look in their leader's direction. Vanessa was ready to go fight for her species and ready to go.

If Marcus had seen the text he would have grinned. But he didn't but in his heart of heart he was so proud of Gale. And his feelings.
But that would hopefully be later, since he did the portal thing.

Ennéa gave Maddie a small nervous smile. "I guess it's time, huh?" She took a deep breath and squared her shoulders. "Shall we?"

Aleister frowned when E three said no cake, "Oh Come on three. Lighten up. It'll just give us that much more energy to burn it off with."
He paused, "Can we go out like the three---" he paused as Vanessa had already left "two musketeers?" He was looking for Wilson. "I-I'd feel better if we had a small gro..........up."
Actually..... as he looked around he realized Wilson was gone too.... There was a frown as Aleister realized he was going to be left behind.
