"Of course I know what they are," Hataru responded as he kept pace with Mel. She seemed entirely too pleased with herself, but it drenched any sour reply he might have thought. When they entered the store, he didn't go straight to the counter to order the potion. Instead he wandered the isles and various displays, letting his senses take in the area as whole. It smelled of leather and fresh laid hay.
"Feather's huh?" he murmured with a grin. A few minutes later, he went to the counter and made his purchase. The prospect of having a calf on the ranch was exciting. It would be his first animal to raise from birth. He felt he was coming a long way as a new rancher in such a short time.

Mel picked out her things before paying for them at the counter. Walking back outside she went to her horse and loaded her few things in the wagon. "You get everything you need?" She asked as Hataru made his way back Getting on the horse she looked down at him.
"Ready to get back to work partner?" She asked with her cheesy smile as she held her arm out to help him back up.

Hataru smiled and reached out to take her hand. but instead of lifting himself onto the laden beast, he let slip the item that caught his eye on one of the shelves. Since she had seen fit to get them hats, he felt it only fair to get her an equally fitting accessory.
What fell in her hand was a thin silver chain about six inches long. Every few links a delicate down feather fluttered, alternating between a pale blue and white, making it a complete strand of feathers. it was fastened as a clip, meant to be attached to the base of hats.
" I know that there's usually something i have to do to get a real blue feather before proposing," he said as he looked up into her enchanting eyes. "I figured this could be like our version of a promise ring." He shrugged then, not sure what else to say. It was a small token, but he felt it held real meaning. A promise to stay by one another's side.
"Do you accept this promise until I can find this illusive token and make it official?" he asked. He would have gone to one knee, but with her on the horse she was already much higher than him. With a hopeful smile, he waited for her answer.

Mel just looked at him in shock for a minute before some how tackling him with a hug. "Of course!" She exclaimed when she pulled back a fraction. for the second time her eyes were misty with tears of joy. She was smiling and she couldn't help but stopping to take this moment to look at him. Just really look at him.
Wrapping her arms around his neck she leaned forward and kissed him, not caring who saw. She was was his and he was hers. Mel couldn't have asked for anything better, Hataru was like her own angel sent to save her from loneliness. She honestly believed they had saved each other.
Pulling back she just laughed for a moment. "You are perfect...don't let anything other thought even change that....you are my ideal definition of perfection." Hugging him again she just smiled. Every time she thought something was perfection he went and surprised her.
"I love you." She said with a small smile as she realized it was the first time she was actually saying just those three words to him.

Hataru wrapped his arms around Mel as she dove through the air to him. He laughed joyously as she kissed him and spoke such sweet words. He didn't even mind that the people who had been waiting for their bit of gossip now turned to each other and whispering excitedly. It wasn't everyday that two young lover's professed their love.
When he heard her speak those three little words, so soft and sure, he felt his chest flutter. Unlike her light quick kisses, where she seemed too excited to focus on any one thing, he cupped the back of her head and kissed her as if she were the very air and he was dying for a breath. He put all that need and passion into the kiss, not caring how it looked to the passersby.
" I love you too," he managed to say between catching his breath and kissing her more.

Mel didn't notice the whispers all she cared about was the boy in front of her. Kissing him back she rested her hands on his shoulder. "I love you more!" She said playfully when he pulled back. Laughing she gave him another hug.
Honestly she wanted to stay at this moment forever, but Mel knew the needed to get back to work. With one more kiss she pulled back and stood up pulling him up. "Will you put it on my hat for me?" She asked holding the chain with a smile on her face.

"Gladly," he replied as he took the delicate chain in his hands and fastened it to her hat. Then he splayed it so that the feathers trailed behind her when she moved. With a smile that was part possessive pride and part unbridled joy, he held out his hand to help her on her horse.
"Now let's go make a baby," he said playfully. Knowing that she would blanch, he added with a chuckle, "cow. Come on Mel."

Mel made a face at him before she playfully smack his arm. Getting on the horse before pulling him on she sent the horse into a light trot wanting to enjoy the moment. Once they were out of town and on the road home she placed her hand over his. "Though I want to add to your earlier comment that one day we will make a baby, and he or she will look exactly look you." She said with a bright smile as she leaned back some resting against him. "How does that sound?" Like she said, she always tried to keep a positive attitude towards anything and everything.
"For now though I get to give you all my love." With that she turned her head up some so he could see her face under the hat. With that she stuck her tongue out at him. "Does this mean you are going to live with me for good now?"

Hataru laughed as he rode with her. Everything was as it should be. When she replied with her own plans for a child, he held her against him, nodding his head. Yes, one day.
"But that would not be good. I want them to look like you," he said as he nuzzled her cheek, tipping his head to the side. He thought about her question about living arrangements.
"I think if we are to consider it, we'll need to consult the lumbermen," he answered with a smile. "We'll be needing a bit more room."

Mel nodded, "Expecting us to have a large family?" She asked with a small smile. She laughed when his hair tickled her face. "So have you decided on a name?" She asked as she leaned back up. Leaving her sentence unclear on purpose.
"We never used Potions grandpa owned a bull, but I wasn't allowed to go near him after he nearly trampled me. PawPaw sold him not long after that. He told me that wasn't the reason, but I knew it was. We had two more after that they weren't as moody with me because I was there when they were born. It amazing that animals can just simply give birth to their children so naturally...I saw on tv that in the city they have like hospitals dedicated to woman giving birth." Okay now she was probably making him uncomfortable. Though she had never mention her her grandfather's name, at least what she called him before.

" I was thinking May if a girl, Cud if a boy," he responded, not missing a beat. He didn't mind her talking about their future together. From this moment, he knew that their lives would be happy and the possibilities endless.
"Well I don't want to waste time finding a stud," he explained. He wouldn't mind having a bull if he was planning on breeding the cows for profit, but he would just be happy having another to make milk and cheese with.
"There are, but some woman prefer home birthing. Depends on if there are any complications," he said softly. He hoped that if they got pregnant, Mel would not have those problems.

Mel couldn't help but smile. "Oh those are some really nice names," Mel really couldn't keep a straight face around him. "One day I want to go to the city with you." Once they reached his property she got off the horse with his help. Then started leading the way to the chicken coop. One hand on the Mare's neck to help lead the girl the other gently reached out for Hataru. She didn't want either one of them to be to overwhelmed in their overwhelming moment. Not that she feared rejection or that he would push her away. Mel knew that there would still be things she had to learn about him when he got ready to tell her.
"Oh and since I don't think we will have time this summer, next year you have to take me." She said in a matter of fact tone. She had long since forgiven him, even if there really wasn't anything to forgive. Mel was an understanding person, and like she had said before, she could never stay upset with him.
Mel looked over at him, "Granny told me mom had the some problem as me when she was growing up. Similar life style after all. Yet I'm here today. We have years and years to get there, I'm positive that it will happen one day. As long as I have you."

When they reached the ranch, Hataru got down quickly and helped to unhook the trailer. He didn't want Mel's mare getting too tired pulling it around. When she talked of plans to go with him to the city, he had mixed feelings. He was happy that she wanted to meet his family, see where he came from, but one side of his family he knew would be left unmet. Hataru feared what his old pack would do if he came back, with his own mate to boot.
"Let's just get through this winter first," he said, but his tone was contemplative. He continued to walk beside her, pulling the trailer behind him. He noted her holding her hand out to him, but he tightened his grip on the rope.
"Sorry, don't have a free hand at the moment," he apologized sincerely.

Mel looked at him before quickly pulling her hand away so she wouldn't look stupid. She really tried hard not to take it personally after all he had just promised himself to her and her to him. "We don't have to go to your city. We can go somewhere else. Ummm....maybe one of the islands around here. I have a cousin in Mineral Town we could go there it is just up the road." She said with a small smile.
"Yeah....most people leave the first winter...the work isn't for everyone." Letting go of her horse she opened the barn door. "I'm going to deal with your horse now...I raised him...he was suppose to be the mate to my mare..maybe I can calm him." She didn't look up trying really hard to not bother him anymore then she had.
"Tell me if there is anything else I can help with."

Hataru pulled the trailer up beside the coop, letting the rope go to settle on the ground. He pulled his hat off to wipe the light sheen of sweat that gathered on his brow, then set it back on and looked towards his girl. Then he strode to the barn, caught Mel in his arms as she tried to lead her horse to the paddock and laid a big wet kiss on her.
"No, I want to introduce you to my family," he said, smiling so she knew he wasn't upset with her. "It's just that one half of it might be a bit upset to see me back and with someone after leaving so suddenly."
