@Natalia

"What are you even-- I didn't even know you were in Kodo, let alone here," a broad gesture with his arms indicated the whole of the party. She had a good point though: He didn't especially want her to be there, for various reasons. For one, she was bossy and often arrogant (because certainly he was neither of those things himself). He supposed there was also the fact that she was a dear friend of his and he didn't want her to end up entangled in the matter of Team Rocket and its seeming grasp on Kodo.

_______

@Asch, Izaya

"Je ne sais pas," she answered honestly, not quite surprised enough by the sudden proximity or confident enough in her suspicion to propose the possibility that Izaya was simply helping out. The idea itself seemed innately incorrect, even if none better could be conceived. This sneaking suspicion was supported when the suspected suddenly... leapt at them? Or leapt at Asch, rather, whether due to Izaya's intentions or the fact that she'd been pulled away from the path of collision.

"Qu'est-ce-- What are you doing?!" It took vast quantities of self-control to keep her voice down when faced with such a scene as her recruit jumping into her partner. There was simply no excuse for the behavior in any setting but perhaps to rescue the target from impending danger - and even that was iffy. She leaned to assist the fallen Asch in rising, directing a hesitant and confused gaze toward Izaya. What was he thinking? Had he actually intended to basically assault an agent?

But Asch departed with his assailant willingly - if not happily - and Izaya paid her presence no acknowledgment. She was left isolated, staring after the departing pair with brow knit and lips slightly parted.

Clearly all parties were conspiracies against her mental and emotional health.

Aulus (Puchbowl peeps, Dancefloor)

Phew, Hayes was cool, and she'd even saved him the trouble of asking her. "Sure, I guess I could go for some dancing," Aulus said with a grin and a shrug, "and as for the bike... well maybe we can talk about that after we dance." Downing his drink and then dumping it back on the table Aulus turned back to Dani and gestured grandly towards the dancefloor. "Shall we?" Claire was still there, but he didn't dare look over at her because... because... some reason. Anyway, it didn't matter, he was going to go dance and he was going to enjoy it.

*****

Frost (The punch bowl, Izumi)

Terrible, horrible, awful evening. It was terrible and disgusting and now Izaya was leaping about - luckily not onto him - and... and... what was that? Frost's head snapped around and he flicked up the lenses on his helmet. He had seen her before, at another party. He'd had been so worked up at that event that he'd hardly registered her. How had he ignored her? Usually almost expressionless eyes glimmering with fascination Frost stepped forward. "Your arm is incredible! Where did you get it? How long have you had it? What does it feel like? How strong is it?... Apologies, I have been too forward, you may call me Dee." Eeee! The evening had suddenly improved enormously. "Oh, did you come for a drink? I can get you a drink if you would like one." So far as Frost was concerned most of the rest of the world had abruptly vanished. That. Arm. Was. Awesome.

(Punch bowl)

More people seemed to have crowded around the table and punch bowl - wait why was she even near the punch bowl in the first place? Oh wait, that's right - but the agent barely even noticed. What she did notice, however, was that Dani was blatantly flirting with Aulus, asking about dancing and riding his bike-- and he wanted to dance with her. Why? He'd just met her - and she was Hayes's sister. Then again, she figured, that barely even mattered. He was a guy, and guys did those things. They flirted with and hit on girls they barely knew at parties, especially after they'd had alcohol. That was one reason she never came to parties. So why was she even here?

Costumes. Right. Well, that seemed like a brilliant reason to stay. Vaguely she heard Hayes mention her wings, and then turned a thoughtful frown onto the faded glowing of the rods attached to her back as she turned slightly. At the moment, she was completely ignoring Aulus and Dani. "Do you think they're getting..." What was the word? Pick a word, any word. Just say words. "Dimmer?" There, that was a word. Either way, blue eyes flitted briefly to Hayes but rested mostly on Faleen - she was the one who helped make them glow in the first place, after all - before flicking between all of the rods she could see. They all seemed to be roughly the same - nothing like one being out and the rest being fine, or anything like that - but honestly she really only noticed it once she'd already pointed it out. Were they dimmer?

(Punch bowl/Snack table)

She was half aware of Izaya's leap, and felt some slight relief that no more of a scene was caused around the bat via him.
"Okay..." Tambrey eyed the Golbat as she approached. "Wha.." Ack. She needed to sidestep slightly to avoid getting in between Frost and Izumi's arm and then turned attention back to her pokemon.
She'd have apologized to Frost if he hadn't just gravitated toward the fancy gadget arm.
Well, she could apologize to Xander at least.
"Erm. He was just trying to..." What? What was he trying to do? He had food in his mouth and was going around showing people as far as she could work out... Until Lasi turned his grin on her. /Oh/... He was offering the food, of course.
"..Just tryin' to help out." She finished, flushing a little. "I'm so sorry. I didn't think he'd misb'have or anythin'..."
She should have just brought Pygi or persuaded Palu to come along, Lasi was just embarrassing today.

She turned her attention back on the bat.
So. He was offering people the food that he had in his mouth. Well, then, he was trying to do something nice, so nothing too firm.
"Now, Lasi, swallow that... No, I don't want any and neither is anyone else goin' t' want any. D'ya see anyone else accepting anything that's been in a pokemon's mouth?"

Lasi had been disappointed that no one wanted any cake, apparently, but had been leaning toward the idea that he could just eat the cake anyway. Just needed a reason...
Aha! A challenge! He swallowed the cake and then Lasi grinned at his trainer! Find someone who was eating something from a pokemon's mouth! Got it! It would really have helped if she hadn't made him swallow the cakes he'd been offering, but oh well, here were cans of soda!
Quickly he nabbed one and flapped off to circle the party and investigate the photo-goers. So it was a drink and he felt a bit like he was copying that Gengar a bit but it was the first thing he'd come across after Tambrey had issued him that challenge. He circled the dance floor.

Tambrey watched him go with a slightly surprised expression. He'd gone rather quickly and now the bat had a soda can. It would not end well, she was sure. But at least he wasn't offering cake from his mouth now. She... should go and find him. She should.
But all Tambrey wanted to do now was pokeball the bat and either escape or go back to her seat, out of the way.

(Inigo and retro-farewell to Presea)
Alba looked between Presea and Inigo as his young friend was leaving. "It was very nice meeting you, miss," he said with a bow and smile to Presea. "If you'll excuse us," Alba left the request hanging. Fixing his hat and straightening his glasses, he followed after Inigo.

There was certainly a lot going on here, and there were so many people! It was almost overwhelming to find himself in such a setting after so long at the tower.
PostPosted: Sat Oct 22, 2011 4:34 pm

Asch wordlessly allowed himself to be led to the bathroom, silently angry and hating of this stupid grunt. However, making a scene would bring unwanted attention to himself. If he had pulled out his sword, at least one person would know who he was in this new outfit.

As they entered the men's bathroom, Asch leaned against the sink countertop and glared daggers at Izaya. "It's none of your business. I don't want or need any of your help."

He didn't know why Izaya was so desperate to learn about his past or about any of the people he knew. Why the grunt even cared was beyond him, other than the fact that she seemed obnoxiously curious. But as he said, it wasn't any of his business. He had no intention of telling the grunt anything, not only because it was not any of his concern, but also out of spite for all the trouble he'd given Asch.

"You know, you're just like Luke, Asch. When I first met him, he was a snob, just like you. Treated me much the same as you did when he first met me. Closed off, rude, untrusting, emotionally-constipated, lack of ability to communicate..." He allowed his voice to fade, motioning with his hand that he could go on and on.

"Natalia doesn't want that. Obviously she was hurt a great deal by what you did earlier this evening." He studied Asch's dress critically, knowing the teen would probably just get angrier if his expression happened to change while Izaya was watching it. "It's not even asking all that much, really. Not hard to figure out. She just wants someone who actually can show that he cares."

"Someone who is considerate enough to actually confront her and tell her what they're feeling rather than just running away like a coward and leaving her to wonder. Sensitive girls like her often end up blaming themselves for your shunning behavior, too, though they don't know what for. She'll feel bad about doing something she doesn't even know she did, even if it's not her fault. Is that what you want?"

Holding out his arms to his sides with a dramatic shrug, the informer smiled helplessly at Asch. "Judging by his reaction to her, selfish little Lukey-chan doesn't seem to care about this girl as much as you do. At least from what I could tell earlier in the dressing room. Who knows? Maybe you don't really feel anything for her at all, and you were distressed for some more minor reason, like that she might have discovered that you were a Rocket. If you don't do something, though, you'll just be watching her from afar forever. Maybe even as she decides to wed and start a family with your marvelous, self-obsessed look-alike. All because she thinks he loves her like you do."

Crossing his arms over his chest, Nakura tilted his head. "Are you just going to let that happen? You, a man of action, pride, and passion? You're going to allow her to make that mistake without ever letting her know how you feel? Or, if I'm correct, that you're even a separate person from your 'evil' twin?" He tapped his cheek thoughtfully with a forefinger. "Maybe you're the evil one then, to leave such an opportunity untouched. Not only are you harming yourself, but you'll be harming her and destroying any chance of a future you had together."
PostPosted: Sat Oct 22, 2011 5:15 pm

Behind his mask, Asch's eyebrow twitched as he listened to Izaya's words. However, he knew quite well that Izaya was trying to pressure him and make him break with his words. The red headed teen may have had a temper, but he wasn't stupid. They were in the same department after all.

He wore a second mask of self imposed indifference, and as much as he wanted to run Izaya through with his sword right now, he held back. This man was certainly testing his patience, and self restraint. He wasn't sure how long he could hold it up before he gave into his desires and tried to snap the idiot's neck.

The fact that Izaya talked like he knew anything about him, or Natalia, or anyone associated with them infuriated him. Where did this guy get off? And why the hell was Asch his target.

"Why the hell do you even care?!" he barked finally. "I don't give a damn about you or your opinion!" After all, Izaya was the one clearly wanting something here, and Asch was not at all inclined to give it. If Izaya thought that guilt tripping him into spewing information would work, he was sorely mistaken. "Do whatever the hell you want. But if you continue meddling with my affairs, I'll make sure you regret it."

"There we go! That special question - I always love that one," he said, smiling slightly, but not so much as to give away his own emotions. It was a cold, concealing smile; one that meant he wasn't about to cave in before Asch was.

"Why do I care? Because I love humans. As far as I can tell, you're human. You, Natalia, and Luke. If you didn't give a damn about my opinion, why would you even ask me why I care?" He sighed and closed his eyes, putting a hand to his forehead, as if in exasperation. "See, Agent, I understand your mind is kind of having a hard time focusing right now, what with this girl you haven't seen in who knows how long dancing right now with a guy who looks like you. Maybe you even have butterflies. I don't know. However, I'd appreciate it if you'd stay consistent with your stated opinions."

When the informant looked up to meet Asch's gaze once more, his expression was stoic. "I think you're forgetting a few things while you're busy threat-making. One - giving me permission to do 'whatever the hell I want' includes getting into your business; or, as you so eloquently put it, 'meddling in your affairs'. How can I know what would be considered 'your affairs' and what wouldn't be if you don't even have the decency to tell me, hmm? Like what if I asked Natalia out for instance? I'm sure I'd be able to show her a better time than Mr. Fon Fabre." He lingered on that thought a moment, as if seriously considering how he would plan out a date with the polite blonde.

"Two - You have to be a person who knows me well in order to make me regret what it is I do. I can assure you, that's no simple task. My love for my hobby is so great that I go through great pains to watch it all work out. Not that I wouldn't enjoy seeing you try, but I just thought I'd give you fair warning."

"Three - Just because your teenager hormones are going cazy over Miss Natalia doesn't give you permission to feel up Aila instead. You can't use her as a distraction for your own, sensual desires. I saw the way she was just now, and you really didn't waste any time taking advantage of that vulnerable state of hers, did you?" A raised brow. "Once again, I seem to have overestimated you, Asch. What in the world were you thinking, asking her to dance, especially in her current mental state?"
PostPosted: Sat Oct 22, 2011 6:18 pm

Asch looked at this Nakura with disgust, however there was a momentary look of shock on his face as Izaya suggested that he had been taken advantage of Aila. WHAT? Just WHAT? The nerve of this guy to even suggest such a thing!

"Shut up!" Asch snapped as he stood up fully, his green eyes ablaze with anger as he stepped towards Izaya. "I've had enough! Let me through. That's an order."

He wasn't going to sit here and tolerate this kind of crap from Izaya. He didn't give a damn about ranks, but he was going to pull rank here if that meant getting away from his tormentor faster.

"Thank you~" Luxury beamed at the compliment. She had no clue how he could say that, she had nearly fallen on him twice already but somehow managed to keep herself upright. Her balance was a mystery. Usually she was clumsy, especially dancing. She was quite good on a skateboard, though. Go figure.

As for the personal stuff, she was happy he let the subject drop... Until he revealed he caught her mumbling. Her body went ridged and she stumbled, falling flat on her rear.

Glaring up at Shadow, more peeved at herself than him, she pouted her lips. "I don't care about relationships, I don't care about being wanted. That's what I said." Though it wasn't really true. Of course, she'd chop off her arm before admitting the truth.
PostPosted: Sat Oct 22, 2011 6:30 pm

"We don't have ranks here. This is a public event," Izaya said seriously, remaining where he was. Sure, the guy could run him through. Or he could have just gotten his pokemon to maul him. Heck, he could get demoted. Again. Which he wouldn't have concerned himself too much with if it weren't for -

Damn it.
He couldn't let her down again.

After a long pause, the hero stepped aside. Before Asch could exit the lavatory, however, the grunt put a hand on his shoulder. "I'm sorry. That was uncalled for. I'm just frustrated with my current situation with Aila and I'm probably just taking it out on you and yours with Natalia. I thought if I could help you, it would take my mind off of my inability to do anything to help her."

The agent stared Nakura down for several moments, and just as he was about to call for Saber to remove him... he finally stepped aside.

However, as soon as the hand was on his shoulder, he was swatting it away. He wanted nothing more to do with this guy. At all. Uncalled for was certainly an understatement. He had just made an enemy of Asch, and there was no amount of apologizing that was going to mend things or make it so Izaya got what he wanted.

He had already told the guy that he didn't need his help. Thus, he passed Izaya by without another word and went back out to the dance floor. Angered, he quickly made his way past Aila. "Je pars!" he told her in passing. This was the worst party ever.
PostPosted: Sat Oct 22, 2011 6:54 pm

Oh well. He'd tried. Twice.

Not that the informant had really expected to get what he'd wanted - at least not this early in the game. Still, that didn't make him feel any less dejected. He hadn't really been sure what it was that had ultimately pissed the agent off, so the full extent of the damage he'd caused was difficult to estimate.

With another weary sigh, Izaya half-heartedly left the bathroom, leaving both his wig and mask behind. Maybe he could get a can of iced tea at the refreshments table.

"s**t. Are you alright?" Shadow asked, hurrying to help her up. He didn't seem to mind her glare at all as he attempted to pull her up by her underarms to get her on her feet. Still, he wondered...had it been something he'd said?

"Not wanting a relationship isn't the same as not being wanted. Even people without boyfriends or girlfriends or friends of any kind have other people to care about them," the robot replied. "Mothers, fathers, siblings, family in general...wouldn't you at least want them to want you?" He wondered what kind of life she'd lived to say something like that. Even if Luxury didn't really mean it, it was still shocking to hear.

Gently, he lead her over to a nearby table. "Here...maybe we should sit out for a while."
