Soon everyone had left the hub but Herryk's group and her own group. It was oddly quiet. Danny didn't like it.
"Isn't it about time we go?" she said, rather annoyingly. She wanted to get on with this crazy house! There was treasure to find! How could you deny treasure? Besides, G was getting restless too. He almost stood up with her still on him! (Though she didn't know that was to sit between Roch and Hel)
Not waiting for the others to respond, Danny darted out the door. Always the reckless one, she darted into a clearly dangerous Haunted House by herself, with no protection except her fire, which could be potentially useless.
GG Danny.

Herryk watched the sisters say their goodbyes, whispering a soft word of thanks to Hel as she passed by. After a long moment of solemn silence, Herryk grunted and struggled to his feet. There was really one thing that he wanted to do right now, and that was to try and reassure Freya that her sister was going to be fine.
Pushing himself away from the wall next to him, Herryk slowly shuffled to Freya. He didn't hesitate to wrap his arms around her from behind, nor did he hesitate to press a kiss to the top of her head.
"Hel will be okay, Freya," he whispered into her ear, "she is smart and strong, just like Freya."

It was difficult to stay unhappy, when those strong, dark arms engulfed her. She leaned back into Herryk's arms, unfolding her own and resting against him.
"That's what I'm afraid of." Comparing Hel to Freya was the last thing she needed, at the moment - especially with what she was about to say. She turned in his arms, and looked up, and up, until she could meet his eyes. This would be difficult.
"I'm hurtings our group more than helpings it, Herryk. Yeh can't deny it isn't true. Yeh might be better off goings without me.. leavings me behind."

Herryk snorted, the sudden exhale of breath stirring the golden hair of the valkyrie he held in his arms. Freya was crazy if she really thought he was going to leave her behind. She really was.
"Freya does not remember using her scythe to hold open the wall of gears so that everyone could get through?" The question was not meant to have an answer -- Herryk knew full well that she hadn't forgotten. "It seems to Herryk that we never would have gotten this far if it hadn't been for Freya."
He squeezed her briefly, resting his chin on the crown of her head. "We have gone through two rooms now," he whispered softly, "and Herryk is not going to leave Freya behind now. Herryk is not leaving Freya behind ever, so Freya better get used to it."
Inhaling deeply, Herryk nuzzled her hair. "Herryk and Freya and the others are in this together until the end, no matter what happens."

There was only one thing more dangerous than the idea of walking into another one of these rooms and encountering even more enemies to fight - one thing more dangerous than any of these silly, hard hitting boos. The feeling that Herryk's precious, earnest words stirred inside of her was far worse than any danger she was facing today, and Freya knew it all too well.
She shuddered in his embrace, and stared at the dark of his skin with a worried expression.
She wasn't going to argue with him, but she couldn't help the words that fell from her lips in automatic response. There was a painful wisdom in them.
"Never say never, Herryk."

"C'mon big guy," Roch said, grinning and patting the monster on the shoulder as he stood. "Time to go back to the room. We'll see if there's a swamp this time, okay?" he added, heading for their door.
He hesitated before going through, glancing around at the unopened doors with a slight frown. "Keep safe, Xiu," he whispered before going in.

"Freya," he shook his head. He wasn't sure what to say to make her feel better, and maybe she didn't want him to say anything to convince her that things were going to be okay. He wasn't even sure that they'd make it out of the house without a hitch -- they were down to one pill and Herryk was pretty banged up. He was thankful that Freya had made friends with a year two student -- because of Christof, they were in a group with three year two students. Herryk did not want to think about what would have happened if they were in a group with a bunch of year ones.
"All Herryk knows is that he is glad to be here with Freya," the words were softly spoken into her ear. They were meant for her and only her. "Herryk would not want to be here with anyone else, Freya." Of this he was utterly and completely certain.
Tiring of the solemn route the conversation had taken (and despite the aches that burned each time he moved), Herryk forced his tone to lighten.
"What does Freya want to do until we move to the next room? Does Freya know a game, or.. have questions for Herryk, or... perhaps Freya wants to talk about what Herryk and Freya will do once they get out of here?"

Herryk was whispering in her ear, and that really wasn't fair. Who could argue with that? The answer was most definitely not Freya. She was putty, and she pouted at the unfairness of it all.
"I.." What did she want, exactly? She wanted to regain the ability to THINK CLEARLY, since she was currently floating in some ethereal plane that did not allow her to think so much as feel.
"I.. want.." Seriously, the ability to finish a sentence would be her first desire, right now. She blinked and took a deep, shaky breath, and opened her eyes - when had they even closed?!
"Uhh.. what was the question again?" Hopeless.

There was a strange hissing noise coming from the wall behind the two vikings. It slowly built in crescendo until with a sound a lot like a someone plunging a toilet, Booni finally managed to free his unibrow from the wall.
"FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFPOP!"
The hirsute Boo slowly floated backward, dazed, until he realized he was free. He looked around for the Boo he'd given an epic, glitter explosion inducing poke, but save for a few sparkling grains in the floorboards, the be-scarfed Boo wasn't there.
"FREE AT LAST!" he yelled, nubbins pumping into the air. He then noticed the two vikings in the room. Specifically, he noticed one had curves, and she looked ... upset?
"hhhhhhHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHey, baby! Don't cry! Booni's here!" he said, zooming in beside her head. "We can totally get this party going."

Herryk chuckled robustly, squeezing her tight for a quick second before he released her. "First, help Herryk sit down again. His side aches. Then maybe Freya can tell Herryk more about her family, or more about why she came to the Academy, or maybe more about what Freya plans on doing once we are out of here."
He would have to thank Hel for dressing his wounds. While the pain still throbbed where Faboo had slapped him around. He certainly hadn't thought that the boos would have packed such a punch.
Wrapping one muscled arm around Freya's shoulders, Herryk nudged Freya towards the nearest wall.

Freya did as he asked, because it was about all she could do. She helped him to the wall, and made sure that when he slid down, he did so slowly and with her help. Then she turned, just in time for a Boo to fly at her face.
Her arms curled around her bare stomach, right where Fireboo had burned her shirt, and she backed away until she hit the wall herself.
"No no nONONOO YEH GETS AWAY, LITTLE GHOSTIE!" She flailed her arms in front of her, trying to shoo the thing away before it attempted to attack. Instead, she managed to trip on Herryk's leg, and fell clattering to the floor on her rear.
Freya's temper returned in a flare of defiance, as she hopped back up to her knees and continued to flail at the Boo. "Shoo! SHOO!"

Time to go already? Gargantuan heaved a sigh as he got to his feet--and flinched as Freya began to make loud, angry sort of sounds and one of the ghosties swooped near her face. Flattening his fins against his head, G quickly made to shuffle out of the room. This place was getting scary! Maybe there really would be a swamp in the next room...

"Awwww, don't be like that, sweet-cheeks!" Booni cajoled, dipping away from the flailing limbs. How long they were! A whole lot longer than his nubs. He spread said nubs wide, "I'm a lover, not a fighter!"
He put on his best romantic grin, unibrow waggling up and down like a jump-rope.

Freya stopped flailing for a moment, pointing her finger sharply at the little Boo.
"Don't talks to me like that, yeh fresh little punk! The last time one of yeh tolds me yeh didn't wanna fights, yeh almost KILLED me! Yeh thinks I'm goings to fall for that again? DO YEH, HAH?"
She took a few steps forward, emboldened by the return of her strength. "Yeh floats over there, away from Freya and her Herryk, and we won't has any problems. Ja?"
And here she thought they were finally going to get a moment to relax..

((entering from group 2, room 2))
Cady chose this moment to waltz in, picking at her teeth with a splinter not unlike a certain cat who had a fruitful run in with some kind of songbird. All in all, she was pleased as punch that she'd made it out of the room without breaking her promise to Willow. It was HARD, the manticore thought mournfully. She lost her train of thought, however, as she noticed the other occupants of the room.
She frowned. She'd forgotten about the weird ghosts. She wished there were more spookies, and less...weird. She settled for watching the unibrowed-blob try to rub nubs with a-
-Another student? But they hadn't seen anyone since they'd come through the door!
"HEY! YOU!" She cried, her gesture indicating both the valkyrie (who she vaguely recognized from the eating contest) and some strange, dark skinned boil. "Er...that is, hi."
She glanced around, looking to see if there were any other students. Was that all of their group? Where had the others gone? Did they fall down a hole or something, like Demi had warned?
