Catching the sound of the scurrying rodent, Raven would quietly cluck his tongue. Damned rodents. It wasn't the Rattata he had anything in particular against; but rather the fact it was crawling along the ceiling, out of apparent reach or sight unless you looked up. A cowards tactic.
Grasping the hilt of his weapon in his right hand Raven would draw his sword, effectively doubling his reach, and swing it upward in a swift arc. He didn't honestly believe he could manage to kill the rodent in that single stroke, but odds were he could scare it into release it's grip, or momentarily stun it by smacking it with the flat end of the blade. Either option would provide the opportunity to properly deal with the vermin.

The blade would catch the Rattata on the shoulder as it would slip to the side and fall off the pipe even as the blade would cut it's skin in the process. It had been a lucky strike, there was nothing that could be said for it as the rattata hit the ground and tries to quickly twist back where he could see his opponent with his eyes narrowed and teeth chattering.
The smell of blood from this group was strong, and he refused to be the next in the line of deaths as his own blood ran along the ground.

Releasing the grip of his right hand upon the hilt of his weapon, Raven would spin the blade left handed in a show of dexterous skill before sliding it back into it's scabbard. His other hand would immediately grasp the third ball upon his belt, thumb pressing the button at it's center to enlarge it before lobbing it forward.
A bright flash would herald the Rattata's doom, the Pokemon that had killed three more of it's kind that day. Shimmering steel feathers scratched against the walls as the Skarmory once more found himself in a location to cramped for flight.
With evasion impossible, Crowe would simply hold his ground, depending on his feathers to defend his body. He watched the Rattata closely from where he stood, his eyes not those of a predator before prey, but rather one whom understood that only one of them would walk from here alive.
Pokemon: Skarmory [M] Name & Level: Crowe, Lv 2 [Temperament] Quiet Bio: Crowe was first encountered upon the second ring of Beginner Island amidst a crater. With wings that shimmered like steel, the bird no less landed upon the ground and challenged Raven to a duel directly. Battle fiercely against Genn, the conflict seemed to take an eternity as the two near immovable objects clashed. With a swift hand, Raven was able to throw a single PokeBall and capture the bird...with a slight chase soon to follow. Struck by the ball in the air, the capsule soon flew over the side of the crater, forcing Raven to pursue it by sliding down the side upon Genn's back. During the process of which the boy encountered a Sneasel...and soon both he and it were hanging off the crater by a branch. After a struggle and much dramatics, Raven was able to retrieve the ball, and save the little Dark-Type he had accidentally placed in a perilous situation. Since then Crowe has shown a strong sense of honour, reacting to nearly every battle as if it were a duel with that very thing on the line.
Shortly after the elimination of the Strike Student Trix's Meinfoo, Crowe too met oblivion at the hands of the girl's Magmar. His body burned down to cinders, an egg would form from the ashes due to the ability of Team Legacy's Guard Student. Reborn from the egg soon after, Raven gave him the same name he'd held in his previous life. Yet the experience of his death has changed the Skarmory. The memory haunts him, sending chills down his spine...the Skarmory has rarely spoken since the initial squawks at his rebirth. The Rattata saw the bird and recognized his own predatory even as the bird seemed to recognize that only one of them would leave alive. Though the Rattata had no plans of letting himself fall as he would come at the bird the moment he noticed that movement wasn't going to be in his favor. The Skarmory didn't have the room for evasion nor good attacks, and he wasn't going to let that miss as he used a move that had his teeth and body glowing with power as he launches himself at him. A brownish red glow over his body as he uses Reversal, he was going to try and even this fight ...as he went to slam into the bird with enough strength that he would force him literally further down the tunnel with this collusion.

With claws sharp enough to dig into steel, the Skarmory would not budge under the rodents assault. The Rattata's attack wouldn't so much as cause the bird to shuffle a millimetre. Despite his efforts, the Normal-Type's attack had been completely deflected by the Skarmory's metallic feathers.
Worse yet, not he was significantly closer to the bird.
Giving a brief caw, the Skarmory would lunge forward with his beak, forgoing his usual call for the enemy to guard. He wished to end this quicker then previous excursions. Best to take the rodent's life quickly before he could realize his own doom. He hoped to end this in a single Peck.

Though the Rattata was ready for this, that opening, his attack as his teeth would flash in the dim light as he landed on his back paws and as that beak came down. His head bowed slightly as he caught himself on two paws, he would launch himself up to meet that beak with his skulll as the rocked head pokemon would actually use tackle.
A smirk was on his face as he counter-attacked.

((Haaaaaaate you.))
(19 - 2) + (7 - 11) = 13 /2 = 6.5 (round) 7 DMG
Crowe HP: 8The Skarmory would give an abrupt, startled squawk as the rodent slammed into his body, leaving a dent in Crowe's beak. he'd have to endeavour to straighten it later. No doubt it would be a painful experience, but it would be better then living like with a bent beak.
Scraping his talons against the ground briefly, the Skarmory would once more move to hold his position. After that last attack he wasn't willing to take any risks.

Though the same couldn't be said of the Rattata as it flipped in the air to land on his paws. His tail would curl and uncurl in a way that could only be called a challenge. His whiskers flicking as he would smirk at the pokemon. No he wasn't going down as easily as his fellows, and if he had a choice he wouldn't go at all ...as he would rush forward again. Ears flat, tail straighten as he would launch himself at his opponent with his shoulder turned so that he would catch the Skarmory completely from the side as he used once more another tackle attack.
He wasn't giving up ...as his tail would curl tightly.
He wasn't going to give an inch at all.
(Yeah ...ummm........my rolls have been like that for most of today)

(17 - 11) + (7 - 11) = 2/2 = 1
Crowe HP: 7This time however the Rattata would find his blow significantly less effective. He'd struck all right, causing the barest nick against Skarmory's steely hide...but it didn't even stand in the same league as his previous assault.
Crowe stood there for a moment, grim faced as he looked down upon the rodent. This would most certainly not end in the Rattata's favour, not at this rate...and not so long as a certain child stood at the birds back.
"Peck" The simply, blunt command left Raven's lips as impatience griped him. He wasn't going to allow the Skarmory to simply stand there for the remainder of the day.
Giving a brief caw, Crowe would lunge forward with his dented beak. He would end this...and soon.

Every little bit mattered as the Rattata would jump away from that bent beak. His feet skidding a bit as his tail would flip over his shoulder as he made that launch upon his back paws, if it was by inches it didn't matter as long as it missed. He knew what damage that pokemon would cause even if that beak was a bit crooked now.
A smile was on his lips, he had left his mark, no matter how short lived it would be.

(9 - 8 ) + (8 - 7) = 2
Rattata HP: 5Just as the Rattata had before him, Crowe's attack would strike; the damaged weakened by his somewhat blunted beak. Still, it was a clean hit, and it proved that the Skarmory would still standing on the upside of this battle.
Fanning his tail slightly, the Skarmory would actually sit down, lodging himself better between the wall and floor. The idea was to keep the Rattata from striking at his legs or stomach. He the rodent wanted to attack it would have to run straight for his beak and chest.

The move would cut into his shoulder, it was a shallow scrap in comparison with the long bloody mark from Raven's sword. As the Rattatta would fall over on to his side as he twist back up quickly, the bird's move made it impossible for him to get at the parts of the bird's body that was the weakest.
He would still leap though, for that bent beak as he move to try and bend it even more. To try and force the beak more to the right, as he aimed to hit the area that was the weakest that he could reach right then.

(14 - 10 ) + (7 - 11) = 0
Crowe HP: 7This time however, despite the Rattata's best efforts, the Skarmory's natural defences would prove to much for the rodent. Not even the barest knick would be left behind on Crowe's body this time, and the aim for the rodent's attack would leave him in a rather precarious position.
Doing his best to prevent the rat from having time to react, the Skarmory would thrust his head and beak forward into the purple rodent's soft fur. A peck attack meant to skewer the Rattata.

Though this is a pokemon that should get a award for his flexibility as he would roll himself into a ball even as he fell back towards the earth. Letting that beak catch him instead of slamming into him as he would roll on top of it....as he aim to catch the ground and nothing more with his body. Then again, depending on the strength of that blow, it might not make much of a different ...being hit by moving metal has never been the softest of blows as the Rattata would seek to escape that peck with just a few bruises.

(10- 3) + (8 - 7) = 8 DMG
Rattata HP: -3That peck attack would prove to be the blow to end it all, as the Skarmory's steely beak sunk deep into the Rattata's fur in a near devastating wound. It wasn't an attack which would end the rodent's life...but Raven's blade was liable to fix then in short order.
Recalling Crowe, the boy would once more unsheath his sword, thrusting it downward to severe the rat's head. This was an extermination mission, and he intended to take that rather serious.
Yet it was also more then that, he still intended to train his Pokemon so they might regain some of their lost might. With that in mind the boy would put away his blade, turn about, and head back toward the entrance of this place.
When he passed the man who had delivered the details of his assignment the boy would simply hold up four of his fingers "Four thus far...I'll return shortly" He stated, not caring if the man was paying attention, or even cared himself. A big part of this mission was training Requiem and Crowe.[Exiting to Pokemon Center]
