(how do vulnerary's actually work? I've never actually known)

Chince had finished (eating, drinking, applying,) using the vulnerary and had propped herself up into a walking position. She had heard what Quentin said about a cane and figured some one who had less broken arms then her could do the job. She ripped off some fabric from a nearby gaurd and started setting a sling for herself. It wasn't the first and wouldn't be the last time she broke something. She started looking around, trying to use some logic. The obvious choices for key bearers would be those who weren't expected to die, such as Tanner, or the other knights. Or it would go to someone who could move quickly but was further away. Like the horse riders below. Since she was staying up here she started checking the dead and unconscious knights.

With the adrenaline dropping, her "accent" would start returning.

(she suddenly remembered how she had knocked a knight over the stairs and hoped it hadn't landed on Quentin's cane. But what were the chances of that?)

Ziaram

You may call me useless for the fact that I am learning swordsmanship with my left arm

When the barrier fell, Ziaram flipped his sword up so that his hilt wouldn't be the side he would be attacking with. The real target seemed to be trapped behind yet another barrier, but they could worry about him later since they had more dark magic coming at them.

As a tendril soared towards Ziaram, he was ready to cut it down but some magic shot down to take it out for him. He turned around and smiled as he saw that Lena had his back. Now he felt she was being even more useful here and that was good for him. He turned to face the dark sages and charged the closest one, bringing his sword down his chest while the sage was chanting to send a tendril at him. He wasn't even able to get his spell off before he fell to the ground dead.

I say that this is just another challenge for me to overcome while my arm is recovering

Without knowing I'm alone underneath this moonlight
I've got a feeling that fragile things are being moved far off
By the power of always believing you'll be near me

I called out only your name

Inside this light...
On nights where it's like I can't catch hold of anything
There isn't a day I don't think about it

-Cyric-

The barrier is destroyed! Now the only thing stopping them from escaping this prison hell hole was none other then the old man whom Cyric had spoken to earlier. As much as he didn't want to kill this man..he was left with no choice. Talking wouldn't get him anywhere either. Chama may look stupid but he was smarter then he looked, that much the King knew. However, they had a few shamans to deal with before they can get to the druid. One of Estarcia's prisoners ran head first into the barrier that suddenly came up and fell backwards. Cyric grabbed his arm before he hit the ground and pulled him up straight. Just as he did, did a flux tendril come flying at them. Cyric shoved the man aside just in time for them both to dodge the attack.

"S-sorry!"

The King glanced at the soldier, then back at the shamans and Chama. "Worry not." he replied, before turning to the others that were hesitant to attack. "Take care of the shamans first! We'll deal with the leader in a bit."

Just a little more was all that ran through his mind. However, Cyric knew once they get out, that's when the real battle would begin. How the others would fare in this situation, he did not know...they will just have to make the best of things.

I've been searching for the future with you

You quietly gazed at me

Call out my name underneath this moonlight
I promise I'll go see you, no matter where
To your side

Darius needed some quick tending to until she could get him some proper healing. She smiled at the Estarcian, but shook her head. "Thank you, I have some of my own though. Please, help the others, I'll be there shortly!"

She then dismounted and searched for a vulnerary in the pack on Darius' side. Once she found it, she began to slowly... use it in however the ******** it's done I don't know. "Easy, it'll be alright... just rest for now." She cooed to her wyvern, reassuringly. She looked back towards the prison entrance and could tell things had calmed down. She then looked into the sky, and wondered how much longer it would be until the sun would begin to rise. She didn't have much time to rest, nor did any of them. She knew she had to report back to Wallace, but Darius couldn't fly yet. She'd just have to help the Estarcian captain the best she could and go from there. Once they began to move, she'd be ready to move with them.

User Image Chama watched as the prisoners flooded into the small opening. "Goodness, Learanians certainly are persistent these days, Zeon, heheh..." His attention then suddenly shifted to a soldier charging at him. "Uwaheh-! Oh, mmmm, how did that spell go again...? Oh, right, right!" With tome and cane in one hand, Chama angled his body and dramatically held out the other. The soldier skidded to a halt as he prepared for the oncoming attack that was certain to be powerful. "BOOMBALA WIGGYWIGGY TITTY SPRINKLES!!"

"....." "....."

Chama suddenly lowered his hand and began to stroke his chin. "No, no... that's not it. Hm..." Annoyed, the soldier continued to charge at Chama, not about to fall for a trick like that anymore. Chama, startled by the soldier, jumped and by chance tapped his cane on the ground, which caused a barrier to shoot upward in front of the soldier. Said soldier rammed into the barrier and the fell backwards onto the ground, limbs sprawled. "Uweggaaughhehh.. eh..." Chama looked at the unconscious soldier confusedly for a second and then grinned. "... ... ...Exactly!" He then looked out at the other prisoners. "Now then... mmm, I suppose I should read.. this... eehhhh okay!" Chama began to chant the actual incantation and then shot out a tendril... which made a direct hit into one of his own dark sages, who fell to the ground once hit.

"........" Chama pointed to the guard beside him. "He did it."

My memories are doubting me...

Annis let out a long, low breath as she lowered to the ground, bloody knives kept in both hands. Even if the number of enemy soldiers had severely dropped off by this point, there was no telling how many were left. Her eyebrows went up and disappeared under her hair as Quentin spoke up; she couldn't quite believe how much his demeanor had changed in just a few short minutes. But no matter, he was still in need of more aid. Sigh. Annis sheathed one knife to free a hand, flexing her fingers in her gloves before tossing a glance back to Loch. "Good job back there, Loch. I'll go find his cane." She didn't tell him to heal anyone, check the perimeter, whatever; she knew that he would make an intelligent decision.

The raven laguz was only gone for a few minutes, shedding a single black feather as she zipped through the destruction and chaos of Arajudia until she spotted it: Quentin's cane, abandoned but not forgotten in the rubble. She scooped it up in her free hand, idly twirling it between her fingers before returning to the blind Swordmaster. "Here. Your cane, sir." She held the implement out for him, then paused before tapping it against the ground a few times, unsure if an audio clue would suffice, or if he needed... he didn't need someone to put it into his hand for him, right? She didn't think that was the case.

Trying to appropriately respond to blindness was awkward, it seemed.

With all their combined efforts they managed to take down the barrier. All that was left were a group of dark mages and the old man who Kione almost strangled. They were so close to getting out. Dealing with the shamans around the cynical old man was there first priority just as the man taking charge quickly said right after he was thinking it. However, the summoner didn't really care about those things at the moment. He was focused on the old man who accidentally hit his own ally shaman. Seizing the opportunity, Kione quickly chanted the written text in the tome he was holding and the flux quickly sank into the ground and shot right towards Chama going right under all the soldiers and anyone else in front of him. Kione was so focused in killing the man he had forgotten to check and make sure no one else was targeting him nor trying to attack him.

What a kind person! Not only did she find his cane, but she even handed it to him! Without trying to demand payment for it, like all the cripples kept on doing to him!

Come to think of it, there was quite a few cripples in the world. Quentin pondered why for a second. "Oh, while you're at it, can you find Ymer? It's the other part of this sword, I stuck it into the ground somewhere...I'd prefer not to have to reforge Mortymer from the start again!"

seeing that the dark shamans were falling one by one Verruckt felt it would be a good idea to help out. Inexplicably, the first shaman he was about to hit was taken out by the weird old man. While pondering this strange turn of events Verruckt failed to notice the flux spell of another shaman before it hit him. He just shrugged off the flux spell and launched a shine at the offending shaman, knocking the man off his feet.

Dietrich pulled himself upright with a long, low rumble, and shouldered his axe. Between dying guards and the chaos of shamans and surging prisoners and stupid druids killing their own men, he was just ******** done. Like, just so done with this.

It was, he concluded, time to put this whole matter to bed.

Shamans and knights were fat and slow. Sometimes you had to cut a few times to get through all the fat to the parts that hurt them, but you could usually do that pretty quickly anyhow. Dietrich didn't even bother himself with the casters up front. They had enough to deal with, and you could never say the young Isaacian wasn't direct.

With a drawn-out, guttural roar, Dietrich shouldered his way straight through the front line. No consideration for defense, no contingency plan. Kill the warden and go outside. Oh god outside would be so ******** awesome. His face twisted into a cruel grimace, the fighter whipped his axe around, bringing his left hand up to clutch the handle and pull it through its arc with every ounce of his might, intent on taking Chama's head to the ground, or at least to lay open his chest.

Nobody would say he isn't direct, but they might say he's really bad at picking his battles.

Horatio
▫ ▪Altiplos Warrior▪ ▫

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Relief came when as the action on the outside of the prison begun to die down. With most of the enemy soldiers cleared from the field, Horatio was able to take a clearer look at his allies, to assess the damage that was done to his small troop. Mihira and Darius looked like they pulled through the ordeal. Loch and Annis had gone to assist Quentin, and Chince seemed to be recovering.

”We won! By the Divine Graces above, we’ve actually won this battle!” Horatio thought gleefully. Although he was feeling the strain that came from too much action with his hammer, the smith wore a smile on his face. Horatio’s group had gained the upper hand, and had time to rest and recuperate. They still had to get inside though. It wasn't quite over yet.

One of the guards had to have the keys to unlock the prisoners. In the absence of a good lock-picker on their side, Horatio would have to snatch the door keys and be on his way. He took out a bottle filled with a vulnerary and drank it. The liquid coursed through him, soothing some of the wounds he endured in this fight. The redheaded smith began to walk around, examining the many Mordachean corpses. So far, there were no keys in his sight.

”Learanian Forces! Form up.” Horatio called out to the others in his best commanding voice. ”I’d first like to thank all of you for your effort thus far. You have far exceeded my expectations for all of you as fighters. I know where we need to go in order to end this conflict once and for all, but first things first. We still must rescue our comrades who are behind the walls. As soon as we find the door keys, we can be on our way.” He said, looking to the left and to the right at the group who had fought on so hard outside of the prison walls. He paused for just a moment, beaming with pride for this group of fine soldiers. ”And then we’ll head to the city’s town hall! That is where the true leader of the Mordache forces is hiding! Once the prisoners are rescued, we’ll drive him out and reclaim Arajudia! I know you all can do it!”

Annis' eye twitched slightly. One good thing with a blind person, she supposed - subtle body language cues like that? Completely out the window. Annis threw her hands up, letting out an exasperated, "Why not? Sure. I will find your sword. Sticking out of the ground. Okay." She watched him for a moment. Make sure you aren't gonna... I don't know, fall over because you only seem to be competent on your own with your entire cane, Annis thought grudgingly before flying off and to look for Ymer.

She had to admit, at the very least, that he was capable with his sword. Who the hell knew how, if he was blind in the middle of a battlefield thick with friend and foe alike, he could manage what he did. The strange redhead didn't seem to have a single scratch on him, either. "Who the hell knows what's up with him, I guess," she muttered. The raven laguz obliged him nonetheless, finally locating a rather distinctive sword sticking upright out of the dirt. Annis tugged it out with one sharp jerk as she swooped in a wide half-circle to turn, then flew back towards Quentin. Annis came to a sharp stop a few years away from him, landing neatly on the ground before holding the sword out for him, flat across both palms.

"To your right," she clarified. "Next time, don't pull s**t like this. Could get you killed."

Her ears twitched as she heard Horatio's distinctive bellow. "C'mon. Better see what he wants!" And with that, she lifted up and was off towards the redheaded Warrior, paying little heed to Quentin. She hovered in the air to the side of him as he spoke, arms folded neatly over her chest.

"Find door keys? I like to think I'm pretty good at finding s**t. Do we have any idea of a general idea that they're stored, or maybe who might have 'em on them? Or do we have no more info than that? I mean, we can work with it, but..." Annis brushed some dirt off of her forearms and returned her gaze to Horatio. She raised an eyebrow and waited.

User Image Light magic stung the dark sages, who cursed being up against their weakness. The advance of the prisoners through the chaotic flying magic was causing the guards numbers to gradually drop. They kept attacking those in the front lines, but one of them noticed a healer in the back and sent a tendril flying towards her. Another dark sage saw that the summoner had dropped his guard and so sent a nosferatu spell at him, in an attempt to heal his own wounds with the life drained from the summoner. Maybe teamwork could thwart these attacks.

Through the chaos, Chama's attention was brought towards a bellowing roar. When the warden looked, he could see a thick-hided behemoth stomping forward. His eyes seemed blazed and bloodshot. Drool flew out of his gaping mouth. His sharp axe was raised in front of his head, flailing wildly. Chama had a rhino charging his a**- and not just any rhino, a psychotic one.

"UWHEEEEAH!!" He scrambled to grip his tome and read another spell, but he clumsily dropped it and the powerful axe completely missed as Chama knelt to pick up the tome. As he was down there, he absentmindedly tapped his cane on the ground and with his mind still on the fighting going on, he was unknowingly embowering it. Before the axeman could swing at the old man again, a barrier wall flew up and smacked into him.

"Uuu... ehhh..." Chama moaned. Though he had recovered his tome, when Chama tried to straighten back up, he found that his back would not let him. "Uwehehh, my, my, what a time, eheeyeyehh.." He then went around, thoughtlessly tapping his cane on the ground while trying to get his back straight. Barrier walls were popping up and disappearing everywhere and being a nuisance to everyone. His moving around also made the flux that was aimed at him miss.

After several minutes, he finally managed to straighten up and turned around to face King Cyric. "Oh, hello. My, what fine clothing you have! Estarcian, I believe, yes? Uweheh... flaunty as always! Chanti sure has good taste. Ah, I wonder how he's doing..." He shook his head and snapped back to Cyric. "Uhweeeh, oh, sorry. ...Is there something I can do for you, perhaps?"

The battle lasted on for a short while, at least until Chama fell into his own barrier which he summoned. The king watched as he slowly got back to his feet, observing if he was going to do anything else. He held up his right hand, halting those who wanted to charge at him. Chama straighted himself up and turned his attention to Cyric. The king couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at him, at his sudden change in behavior...then again...he did that earlier when they were still imprisoned. Chanti? Chanticlier if he recalled...they used to be old friends. This gave Cyric an idea as he strapped his bow to his back.

" As a matter of fact, there is."

Putting on his old 'Captain' face as he gave the old man an Estarcian salute. "Under direct orders of his majesty, 'King' Chanticlier..I am to escort you to Estarcia for a visit." He started, took a deep breath and continued. "His majesty has been feeling a little lonely lately and requested your prescence." He lowered his arm, acting a little more casual like he always did when around Cornelius or even the late King himself. "He won't take 'No' for an answer."

Cyric could hear the soldiers behind him whispering and muttering something. Before it drew any suspicion, he quickly hushed them and turned his attention back to the old man. "Well then, Lord Chama...shall we be off then?"

User Image "..." Chama listened intently to the king. "...Chanti said that about me, did he? Heh heh... he hasn't asked me to come visit in... so very long..." He drifted off and then looked back at Cyric. "We were childhood friends, you know. Met in Archesis when we were just lads. Zeon, Argile, him and me... good times, those... then we got older and... my... mind started... ..." After drifting off again, he looked back at Cyric and smiled brightly. "I think I might rather enjoy paying him one more visit." He then snapped his fingers. "Ah, but I'll need to make sure it's okay first. There seem to be a lot of people running around... ...When did I leave my office? Uweheheh!"

Nearby, one of the druids had watched the old man basically be a complete screwup and nothing but a nuisance in the battle. The fact that he was now talking to the Estarcian King instead of trying to subdue him was the last straw. "I am fed up with his incompetence... he's just getting in the way!" The druid turned towards the two, chanted, and then sent a tendril towards them.

Chama's eyes suddenly opened slightly and looked to the side. He tapped his cane on the ground and a barrier wall shot up beside Cyric, blocking him from the tendril. However, the tendril didn't hit the barrier, it hit into Chama's side, knocking him into the nearby wall. The warden looked at the druid who had attacked him and then shut his eyes again as he slid to the ground.
