The bits of mirror she'd taken came in useful as she placed them so the Angel would look at itself should Aven blink. There was a rustle behind her and she turned to see a stone head peeking at her from the opening the Doctor had left through. Aven felt her blood run cold as she stared down the statue. Her brain screamed at her to run away and hide, but even if she tried, the other two Angels had her trapped.
And if the Doctor wasn't coming? What if he'd left her there? What if he wasn't coming back? Try as she did to have confidence she couldn't help but realize the utter bleakness of the situation. It would be simpler for him to simply cut his losses and go. That was the logical thing to do.

The Doctor finally got into his Tardis and searched around for something. Just what he needed a freeze gun. He jumped out of the Tardis and frooze the angel quickly and ran over to the vent and froze other angel "Aven!" he called as he threw the freeze gun up and slid it over to her.

Her fingers closed around the gun and she shot both angels squarely in the chest. With a swift kick she broke the now brittle stone around her ankle. Without a second glance back she darted out of the vent and into the Doctor's arms. She trembled wordlessly for a few moments before composing herself.
"Took you long enough," she said with a nervous laugh.

"Ah don't worry ALLONS-Y!" he grinned while running back to the Tardis with her in his arms.

Aven was thankful for his assistance. The encounter coupled with her claustrophobia left her legs too weak to sustain her weight. She then wrapped her arms around him and hugged him tightly.
"Thank you for coming back..." she whispered.

"Oh it's not a problem, not like I would just leave you" he said while entering the Tardis and layed her down on the couch.

"Y-yes well..." she trailed off as she realized she was crying.
She didn't mind the Angels, or even the dark... but the tightly enclosed space had really done a number on her. Aven immediately let him go and furiously wiped the tears away. She'd learned at a very young age that tears were a useless waste of energy and it irritated her that her body would pick now of all times to break down.
I'm alive aren't I? There's nothing to be scared of anymore, so stop crying! But try as she might she just couldn't seem to stop the tears from falling.

The Doctor watched her. "It's alright to let it out. You have been holding those in for such a long time"

"T-tears are pointless..." she said sniffling and wiping her eyes, "T-they're just cries for attention... I-I'm not like that... I d-don't want to be like that."
Tears never earned her anything other than pity, and she would hate to see that emotion in his gaze. She would not be pitied.

He sighed "It's also a sign of showing that you still have a heart." he said while now powering up the Tardis again. But did not pull the lever that would send them traveling again.

She was tempted to ask how having a heart was relevant to anything but decided that it might upset him so she chose not to.
"What are we going to do about the angels?" she asked with a sniffle once her tears had dried. "We can't just leave them stranded here. Anyone could walk in on them."

"Yes that's right, but we can't do much." he said as the Tardis started to shake. The angel's outside were trying to get in. "They really arn't a smart lot." he said while pulling the lever were the Tardis started to disappear and the angel's froze once they saw each other.

Aven blinked as she felt the TARDIS melt back into the vortex. It had been only two short hops but she'd seen and traveled to the farthest reaches of space and time. She looked down at her rumpled clothes and bruised ankle.
"Doctor... I want to go home," she said quite suddenly her thoughts distant.

The Doctor looked back at her and sighed. "Alright" he said while redirecting the location of the Tardis. It finally landed and he turned to her. "I guess this is goodbye." he said while looking distant.

Aven stared at him not moving from the couch.
"Er... I meant for a change of clothes," she said with sheepish expression on her face, "I mean... I'll leave if you want me to but... if... you don't mind... I'd still like to... well you know..."
She was stammering, but really Aven didn't know what to say. She'd already asked to stay several times and he'd been more than a little reluctant to keep her around...
