"Makes sense, I only came here when dad made a trip or when I was traveling with you," Lin replied, "Actually unlike the palace, I don't think I ever came here I my own."
Even when she had to retrain herself with her wings, she had one of the nekos there with her.

"I'm not sure why, but that surprises me," Earendil commented, finding what he was looking for. "I guess from all the adventures you told me about, I supposed you came here all the time ..."
He returned to Lin's side and sat down next to her, smiling gently as he cradled the wrapped item in his hands.
"But one desire I've had," he murmured, "is for the two of us to be together from now on, no matter where we are or where we go ..."
He set the wrapped item in her hands and waited for her to open it. Inside was a feather made of white gold, set in a littinum cage of ivy and leaves - little did he know that it was almost the same design as Lin had requested from Aranhil. It was on a thin littinum chain that would fit ever so comfortably around Lin's neck.

Lin blinked at him, she was going to say something that they would always be in some shape or form together, but the moment he placed the bundle into her hands she stopped.
Looking down at the bundle, she slowly and carefully unwrapped it. The glint of metal caught her attention and her breath was taken away by the sight before her. For a moment it looked like the feather she had designed, except it was obvious the metals were different. It was the most amazing thing she had ever seen.
It took perhaps another minute for her to realize that he had given her a caged feather, a design that could not be mistaken for anything else. She threw herself at him, wrapping her arms around Earendil to hug him tightly.
"Earendil! How did you know?" she laughed and smiled so brightly.
Here she thought she'd surprise him, but it was obvious he surprised her.

Earendil laughed and caught her in his arms, holding her tightly to himself.
"I'm afraid I had to break my mother's trust," he chuckled, pleased with her reaction. "After you left, I followed and spoke with your father. I wanted to do it in the way that would mean something to you."
He was feeling positively giddy, despite the fact that he had been quite certain that she would accept the gift.
"I love you so much," he murmured so softly it was nearly a whisper. "Please tell me that we will never have to be apart again, that we will be together for the rest of our lives ..."

"I can do better than just tell you," Lin replied softly.
Untangling herself from her tackle hug with Earendil she took his hands and led him to her room. She hoped that their bags were already there as Shiro had promised earlier. Sure enough, there were her bag and Miyuki's bag waiting there.
"Just wait, one moment," Lin told him, before standing on her tiptoes to give him a light kiss.
Backing away, she quickly went through her own bag. She hadn't been expecting to do something like this until Miyuki was asleep but when the opportunity arose... why not? A moment or two later (it felt way too long for Lin) she came back with her own cloth bundle and presented it to him.

Earendil followed Lin, a niggling suspicion growing in the back of his mind, and when she placed the bundle in his hands he couldn't help but smile as he unwrapped it carefully. When the silvery ivy cage came into his view, his smile grew wider, and when he had unwrapped it completely he couldn't help but chuckle.
"I think," he murmured, his eyes sparkling as he looked back at Lin, "this explains why I barely had to explain a thing to Aranhil."
He held the caged feather in one hand and with his other hand he reached out and pulled Lin to him again, holding her close as he leaned down to kiss her warmly.

This, Lin decided, was probably what people meant by being 'drunk off of love'. She certainly felt light headed at the moment after that last kiss. It was in a way different, by angel standards they were married.
Oh goddesses, they were married.
That sent a new wave of light headed-ness into her. Lin ended up leaning against Earendil's chest both out of joy and out of support.
"I had it done," Lin explained, "During that week stay at the palace."
She was flushed with joy.

Earendil chuckled and held Lin close. "That makes sense," he murmured softly. He couldn't bring himself to let her go, and he just continued to hold her to himself, taking joy out of that simple nearness.
He stroked her hair softly. He really didn't want to break the moment, but on the other hand, there were questions that he simply needed the answer to.
"So where do we go from here?" he asked her quietly, still holding her close. "Do you want to have a ceremony of some sort? Or is this enough for you?"
In her eyes, were they married or did they need more to make it official?

"This is more than enough for me," Lin replied snuggling close.
Besides that, Lin wasn't sure if she wanted to put up with the possible trials of having a ceremony. She didn't need a pretty dress or a lot of people to confirm her marriage. It was one of the few Angelic or Second traditions she was happy to keep.

Earendil's smile only grew wider, and he squeezed Lin slightly, still holding her tightly to himself.
"I'm glad," he murmured, closing his eyes peacefully.
So this was how true happiness felt, he thought to himself. It was something he could definitely get used to. And the best part of it was, he didn't need anything to make him feel this way ... all he needed was Lin's presence.
"We're going to have a time convincing Miyuki it's time for her to have a room of her own," he realized suddenly, chuckling softly.

"With all those tails, she's eventually going to have to sleep by herself," Lin replied, "But Senka can join her, because I draw the line in having a talking cat in the same room with us."
It would have been one thing if Senka was just any old animal, but Senka was a talking cat. Talking cats were not good creatures to have in the bedroom.

"Agreed," Earendil chuckled. "At least Miyuki will be happy to know that we're finally a real family, even in the eyes of those around us."
He kissed Lin once more before he let her go. "Come, we should talk to Haradhel about getting our rooms changed around," he smiled. "We're going to need a room with a bigger bed, I think."
Most of the beds were single beds; there were only a few rooms with double beds, and neither of them had one of those ones.

"Right," Lin replied.
Then, slowly she took off the necklace she had worn since she was a child. It meant a lot to her, and she would keep it safe, but now she sort of out grown that aspect of her life in a way.
The promise feather replaced the butterfly now.
"Let's go, then maybe we can get it all arranged before Miyuki comes back."

Earendil slipped his own promise feather around his neck, then took Lin's hand and squeezed it tightly.
"Let's go," he murmured, leading her towards the door.
He was smiling so widely, it was beginning to hurt a bit, but he couldn't help it. He and Lin were married. It was the one thing he had dreamed of for years ... and now it had finally happened.

Lin grinned, she felt so giddy inside. It was one thing to realize your childhood friend was someone you loved dearly in that special way only couples could, but it was completely something else to be married and have a life with that person you love.
For the first time she understood what the fuss was about with all those high school girls.
Letting herself be led back down the stairs, she looked around wondering where they should go check first.
"Would Haradhel still be in the playroom or somewhere else?" she wondered.
