Aludra Yvette...

After what seemed like hours looking for an empty table, she found one in a darkly lite corner of the inn. Aludra hastened to grab the seat before anyone else spotted it, lest she would have to use force to get it back. She felt a sudden surge of loneliness when she sat down by herself. Usually friends or her lover would accompany her to Hogsmeade but this time she was by her lonesome. It felt rather invigorating to be there without a friend or company; it gave her some much needed time to think; think about nothing more than of the silly things that made her life so wonderful. A sloppy grin formed across her face as Aludra began to decend on her meal.

*******

She finished her lunch with relish, her once empty stomach was now filled with some of the finest food in all of England. After giving her stomach a little pat she waved Madame Rosmerta goodbye and walked out of the door; she was fairly certain there was other things to do in Hogsmeade before heading back up to the castle.

He stumbled into the Three Broomsticks, and was delighted to find that the bar woman was cleaning and he wouldn't have to face someone familiar right now. He stumbled into the bathroom and gasped, he couldn't help it. His appearance...was that really him in the mirror?
His amber eyes Ayamae used to admire were now bloodshot, all the tears he shed, the pepper spray, the few hours of sleep that he got, seemed to be reflected in them. The circles under his eyes were more than dark purple, they were black. Black as the sky on a cloudless night with no stars. He resembled a panda with his eyes...And there was the yellow-tinted, gray-ish skin, covering half his face, from a huge, sickly purple-yellow bruise. He was pale underneath the bruises, but not just scared-looking, more like the blood had been drained from him completely, and the bones in his cheeks stuck out in his face like he was a mere skeleton with one layer of skin stretched over it. All his bones were visible. If not for the limp gauze, he was sure he'd be able to count his ribs and play them like a xylophone. He was drenched in cold sweat from the fever or virus he had. He pressed a hand to his forehead and was not surprised to find it burning as hot as metal on a summer's day. Yet he felt like he was freezing...Sleeping in alleys was no doubt what got him this sick....

His long brown hair was a bit past his shoulders, matted, tangled, and ragged. Dry blood covered the entire top of his head from where the tree had struck him, it looked like it could've been a small dark red beret. It was so congealed and thick that it peered out from the top of his lazy wrappings from his jeans. The jeans he were wearing looked like very long shorts, not too far past his knees. His jeans were worn out at the knees as well, and still plastered with filth and blood. He put his hands up to his head and tried to sweep some of the flaky blood away from his head, but as soon as he even touched his head it throbbed almost as bad as when the branch had hit it. Concussion? Was it possible that he had one and didn't even know it? He lowered the jeans wrappings a little bit that he'd put on about...a week ago, scared of what he might see. He remembered everything though, even if he tried to block certain things out...he remembered everything that had happened in the past month...how could he forget? He couldn't have a concussion... Yet his head still had that dented look to it, and it was still tender. Still, that wasn't his worst problem. Looking back into the mirror, he glared at the rest of him, wishing it weren't true. His arms were a bit of a pale green-ish yellow, he felt just about ready to retch. If he did though, all that he'd throw up was water, there was literally no food in him. Deep scars and open wounds were all across his body, scabbing over and peeling, covering and papering him, infected and bloody. Not all of them were infected, thanks to the disinfectant he'd used, but the cuts that were infected looked disgusting and pus-filled. Dried blood caked his body, and bug bites covered him completely. Mosquito bites, swelling, red, infected bites from every bug imaginable were scattered all over his pale skin. Some of them even came from rats in the alleys he'd slept in. It didn't look only like he'd lost weight, but more like his hope and life had been sucked from him, leaving him looking deflated and empty. His pants looked like they were 10 sizes too big, which they probably were. He'd always been fairly skinny, but this was unreasonable. His muscles were gone too, he didn't look like he'd been working out at all, no matter how much he'd been walking. He was supposed to weigh about 160lbs, give or take a bit, being almost 6 feet tall. But no...right now he must have weighed what one of his young girl students weighed. He stepped on a scale in the restroom, ((just pretend there is one)), and let slip another shuddering gasp. He wasn't even 100 pounds, but 80. Half of what he should be. He just stared down at the number as if it were going to change, but when it didn't, he buried his face in his hands. Shouldn't he have died on the street by now? Or died in the woods from that tree? Perhaps it would be easier if he died than lived. His life was getting thinner and stretched more each day. As he stared at his own terrifying ribs, he truly feared for his own life. Ayamae wouldn't love him now...how could she? Her patronus said it did...but she hadn't seen him like this. He was the horrible filthy animal the upper class treated him as. Heck, even the lower class treated him like the sickly rat he was. The bloody gauze sagged and he looked down at his chest and ribs that had been hidden from him for the first time in a month, but wished he hadn't almost the instant he did. It was terrifying to think that this was really himself, to look at his own arms and hate himself so much he wanted to tear them off. His eyes widened as he stared at the ribs he hadn't wanted to see. The area around his ribs was deep red, almost a purple color, swelling, flaky, and pulsing like it had a heartbeat of it's own. His two broken ribs were clearly visible, sticking out from his side at a bizarre angle, like two sides in a triangle. He poked one of them as if to force it down, back to his ribcage, and positively howled in pain. He quickly wrapped the pathetic gauze back around it, gritting his teeth to keep himself quiet, and left the store.

Donavon entered the three broomsticks some time later, Ayamae's hand in his. He remembered the last time he ran in here like it was yesterday. He was grateful he hadn't seen anyone then, or he'd most likely have to face them now. He sat down with her at one of the tables and smiled.

"I'm paying this time." He said in a tone that said it really was no good to argue. He owed her way too much, he had to get himself out of some of this debt now. The three broomsticks was warm and cozy as ever. Madam Rosmerta, the curvy bar woman came over to take their orders. Many men had flirted with her before, she was attractive, but there was no one more beautiful than Ayamae. He only had eyes for her and he always would. Hmm...marriage...it really did seem right, it was just so hard to believe that it would all come true. A small part of him was so unsure, worried he might not be good enough, but they were way past the point of ever breaking up, so wasn't marriage the only way forward? He didn't want it to be a resort because they'd run out of things to say, but it wouldn't be. He held her hand across the table. There was no place more perfect than with her. Even if he was suffering like he was in the hospital wing, as long as she was there, he felt fine. He didn't want to ever lose that feeling, the one of real love that you can't really describe with all the words in the dictionary.

Ayamae smiled at Donny's insisting to pay for everything. She knew that he didn't have much, but if he insisted, she wasn't going to insult him.

After they sat down, Rosmerta came over to take the orders. Ayamae exchanged a quick greeting with her. They knew eachother pretty well. Ayamae'd been ordering booze off of Rosmerta since the day she'd turned 17.

"I'll get some eggs and bacon, Rosmerta. And a glass of orange juice if you've got it."

Ayamae smiled as Rosmerta turned to get Donny's order. Though Rosmerta was older, she was still a very attractive woman. Ayamae silently wondered if Donny noticed the large bust peeking out of the corset she wore, or the stylish way she wore her hair...or if maybe, just maybe, he didn't notice it at all and only had eyes for her.

Ayamae suddenly found herself envisioning a future with Donny. She was by no means "gifted with the sight" but she could see it clearly enough as though she were. They would sit hand-in-hand in a nice house...and heck, maybe they'd even have some kids. Ayamae had always wanted a son, but she'd be content with whatever she got...as long as it was healthy.

She shook herself out of her stupor, hoping that Donny didn't see the dreamy expression on her face.

Donavon ordered some hash browns and bacon and eggs on toast. He still had quite an appetite after all that happened this summer. He ate with Ayamae and they talked about the usual at first, but he wanted to say something new. He wanted to ask something interesting, just talk to her like he never had before. Say something he never had, take it up a level, but he wasn't sure how.
"So I heard your cousin Saya's is at Hogwarts now? So d'you have a big family?"

He was a bit curious if he did marry her what is in-laws may be like. He'd marry her...hopefully...whether they liked it or not, but he still wanted to know. Lucky for him, he didn't have any brothers or sisters or even parents anymore. In a trailer park, your friends were your family. And Ayamae had already met those guys, they were definitely not the best family you could hope for. But they had always been there for him, and that was all he could ask for. Then he wondered if he was being insensitive, he knew her cousins had been fighters in the second wizarding war and some of them died, it sounded like. Damnit. She might still be sensitive about it. And wasn't the one who worked at her house her cousin too? Maybe if she had more family they'd be staying with her? Dangitt! Why did he always say something wrong...he wanted to be as great as he could be, even if he never may really be great enough.

Ayamae shook her head at his question.

"No, haven't got a big one. Closest relatives are my uncle Isshiin, his wife, and my cousins Yashiro and Saya. I don't speak to my parents very often...mum kind of ignored me a bit after dad got arrested for his dealings and sent to Azkaban. So, I went to live with my grandparents. Dad just got out a few months ago..."

She smiled a little embarassedly at him. She knew that it wasn't normal to not speak to one's parents...and knew that it was even less normal for one of those parents to have spent a quarter of their life in Azkaban.

"D'you have any family?"

Donny nodded and felt a bit ashamed for asking the question, she didn't sound wicked close to her parents and he hadn't wanted to bring that up. He thought for a moment before answering her question. No, he didn't have any family, he was the last living 'Epithia.' But how would he actually say it? He hadn't talked about his own family since his parents died...

"Well I was close to my parents even though they took care of so many kids and had to neglect me at times. We got along really well, but they both died not too long after I graduated Hogwarts." That was obviously why Emily's death was even more traumatic, it was both car crashes, and each time he blamed himself. He should've saved them three...

"You don't normally have too many relatives in a trailer park because you can't take care of them, and people tend to die a bit younger, there's so much trouble there. I know I did have an uncle, but I think he's in jail for rape..." He ticked them off his fingers. "He was my father's brother, but he's definitly a criminal never getting out of there. I think he had a daughter about my age who got pregnant at around 14, and her and her little 6 year old daughter ran off. I don't even know their names, never met them. I think the one around my age is a prostitute now and she moved to some other country. Then their mother, the criminal's wife...I think she got cancer and passed away. That's my father's side. On my mother's side, she had a sister who got divorced, had a son, and her second son she died in childbirth, and her first son overdosed when his girlfriend left him. The second son got into some huge fight, I think it was with DaddyJ and Lee as a matter of fact, and he got stabbed to death."
He sighed, looked up, and smiled. "It's not a big deal though. It really isn't. I never really knew them."

Ayamae felt the intense urge to get up and hug Donny and never let him go, but they were in public. Instead, she reached across the table and held his hands tight in hers.

"I'm sorry, Donny."

She didn't know what to say to that. Thankfully, their food was arriving.

As Ayamae ate, a question occurred to her, and she felt that she may as well ask it.

"How many kids do you want?"

She was hoping that he wouldn't choke on his food at the question.

"It's really fine." He said again. It wasn't fine that he never knew his family, his legacy, never had those funny moments with relatives that you could laugh about later...but he really hadn't known them. Some of them died when he was a kid, some died when he was at Hogwarts. But all of them were gone. Ayamae was here. He was going to focus on her right now, not on what was beyond the grave. He'd gotten over their deaths years ago. The only ones that really hurt were his parent's and Emily's. Maybe if he could have a miracle happen, he'd wish for the family he never got. But it was miracle enough to have someone as amazing as Ayamae love a broken-down person like him.
He ate, grateful for something to do, but didn't choke on the question. He swallowed and was a bit unsure. Was there a right or wrong answer here? If he said loads, would she be put-off, if he said a couple, would she be disappointed?
He looked thoughtful for a moment before saying; "At least two. Not like, loads and loads of kids because they're more work than anything" He laughed a bit, remembering the toddlers and babies he'd help take care of during the summer. Whenever there was more than 5 for him to take care of, it was like hell on earth. But once they were around 7 years old they started staying at home by themselves while their parents were out. Of course, they got corrupted at a young age. He saw 10 year old finding their father's beer and drinking it because 'daddy does it'. He never wanted to be that irresponsible, and he never would be. Plus he hated the feeling of being neglected for another child, always thought, Am I not good enough?, and wouldn't let his kids feel that way.

He remembered Emily and him discussing their to-be families and the same questions. But now he found that it didn't matter how many kids, thought of course he wanted some, because he'd be the happiest man on earth anyway. Why get picky with names of any miracles he received? He smiled a bit as he continued to eat, remembering the joke he made when she wanted her son's name to be special and he suggested Charles de Porkpington or something...as long as his taste in names wasn't that bad, then what did it really matter?

Ayamae smiled.

"Two's a nice even number. I don't think I'd want to go over three. I like kids, don't get me wrong, but like you said, lots of work."

She wondered what their children would look like...she pictured Donny in miniature with brown hair and purple eyes...or maybe if they had another metamorph, they'd have some kind of funny colored hair. In any case, she decided that they'd be perfect, round, cherubic little menaces to society...if they were anything at all like their mother.

She blushed pink with embarassment.

"Sorry if I'm making you uncomfortable with all the questions."

He smiled, containing his excitement that they agreed on this. He wouldn't know what to say if she wanted loads or no children. Then she blushed a bit and apologized.
"No, not at all!" He said, grinning, waving her apology away. "I'm actually just really glad we can talk about it freely and not be all uptight about it." He took another bite of toast and was again, strongly reminded of choosing baby names on the beach. Still, this was more special, because he actually intended on having children with the person he sat across from. Even if he'd agreed on a baby name with Emily, what did it matter? He wouldn't have had kids with her. He wondered a bit who the kids would look like as well. He hoped any daughter's would have their mother's looks. Then again, he wasn't 100% sure he knew what Ayamae looked like without changing her appearance at all. Since purple short hair obviously isn't natural, what did she have before she changed it? Well, he wasn't going to ask anyways because he was sure it was fine anyways, and he didn't care too much about appearances, especially considering how skinny he still looked.

"I wouldn't know what are some good names though..." He wondered a loud.

Ayamae chuckled.

"I'm not exactly good at naming things. Case in point, my male owl is named after a female goddess."

She finished up her food and sipped her orange juice. She wasn't sure what on earth she'd name a child. Not that Artemis wasn't important, but he was a whole hell of a lot less important than a baby...
