"Oh. Pryvet." Aleksey said gently and with a smile. "I was just curious as to the going on's." Aleksey said simply, he then held out two sunflowers for the men. Though the moment he did that he frowned. Wait.. you didnt give men flowers did you? He lowered his arm and frowned lightly. He held up a finger and pulled out the map he had bought. "Does anyone know how to be reading a map of English? Im afraid im not good at it." Aleksey admitted with a blush as he showed the men the map of Nirvani instead. "I lost my farm, and i need to be heading back in that directions. Oh.. but i should head to the stores first.. there is store here, da?" Aleksey questioned. These two werent as friendly as the girls.. odd.

...Okay, so Keith wasn't exactly the type of person Alex enjoyed being around. Actually, he reminded him of a lot of the obnoxious guys from culinary school and his previous jobs. Some guys got huge egos from their cooking skills, and got really annoyingly cocky. He wasn't sure if this was the case with Keith, or if he was always like that, but until he learned otherwise, that was the excuse he was going with. So he decided to focus on the man in the doorway, instead. He could get to know Keith later.

"You're in the wrong place," Alex narrowed his eyes at Aleksey. Who the hell went into the kitchen to ask for directions when there were perfectly capable inn NPC's available? Or even the waitress who was supposedly hanging around the front? "You don't know how to read a map?" he raised one eyebrow. Okay, well, this man was obviously an idiot, so he stepped forward and gestured for him to show him the map. "You live on a farm? Thankfully for you, the shops are in between here and the farms... Here, let me see..." The sooner this guy knew where he was going, the sooner he could leave.

Ahhh, so fast! That was so like her brother! River couldn't help but beam in pride as their food arrived. ...Now that she thought of it, she really was hungry, wasn't she? She set aside her note pad and pen (she had decided to write down the words Una was teaching her, though nothing could be said for her spelling. 'Goot', 'gootun tawg', and 'nine' probably wouldn't do her much good if she ever tried to read.) and leaned forward to look at the food. "Hmm, I hear this one is good," she pointed to a random plate. They were all supposed to be good! It was her brother's cooking, afterall! "Here, teach me more," River smiled at Una as she picked up her fork and began to pick at one of the plates.

"Vell.. ztere ist die numbers." Una said as she tried one of the dishes along with River. "Oh ztats gut!" She smiled after she had inhaled her part of it. "Zteres eins." She held up her thumb. "Zwei" She held up her thumb and index finger. "Drei, fier funf sechs seben acht neun zhen." Una said as she counted off on her fingers. "Ach und Deustche kommarades. Count vone on ztere ztumb. Not on die index finger, like die English do." Una said gently.
_________

Aleksey continued to smile but internally he was frowing a bit. He didnt like the snappy nature of the man and the other one was ignoring him. Did they not like foreigners? Couldnt they at least be nice? Its not like he was used to certain cultural barriers. Still none the less he handed the map over to Alex. "Spasibo." Aleksey said gently. "Im afraid my english is better than my readings of it." Aleksey added but his voice faltered off.

Alex took the map from Aleksey and looked it over. How the ******** did he mess this up. The island itself was small enough, and there weren't that many businesses or places in the first place. But he wasn't going to judge anyone, if the guy had a bad sense of direction, then he had a bad sense of direction.

"Okay, you're here," he held up the map and pointed to where the inn was. "You want to go here." Now he moved his finger up the map until it rested on the farm area. "As long as you walk away from the beach, you'll be okay. Understand?" he looked the man directly in the eye. Oh, what a weird feeling, being perfectly eye level with someone. "And don't just wander into places like this. You're not supposed to be in the kitchen." Now he gave him a sharp look, silently telling him to leave.

River marveled at Una, both for her German skills and the speed at which she ate that food. She was an amazing person, wasn't she? She took a few bites of her food before setting down her fork and leaning back, moving her fingers in the same way that Una had, going over the words in her head, though they really didn't sound as good as she had hoped. Her language skills were clumsy even in her thoughts. "That's really interesting. I didn't know people counted differently." Maybe one day she would be able to travel the world and see all the different way people did things~ "But that makes sense, you know? 'Cause your thumb comes first. I don't know why people start with the index finger. Maybe it was started by someone who had an issue with thumbs," she joked with a grin.

Keith had stayed in the back of the restaurant, simply staring at the two tall men with a completely look of comfusion on his face. Not that he wasn’t understanding what they were talking about, or that the man was lost on a ******** small place like Nirvani. No, he could understand that, as stupid as it was. What he didn’t understand, was why Alex wasn’t just kicking the man out of the kitchen! Kitchen was reserved for cooks and sexy waiter/tress who wanted to get it on with the cooks! That was well known, and the Russian man was neither of them! Alex should have simply pushed him away or used one of the numerous knives in the kitchen to do it for him. Now they were waiting time trying to explain a map to a moron… not that time could have been used to anything better, but eh, Keith didn’t like stupid people and that man was one, so now he was simply irritated. Good thing he was letting Alex deal with it, cause he would have probably stabbed the man by now, if it was up to him, but eh, Alex’s kitchen, Alex’s problem.

Aleksey frowned after he was explained things. It was helpful but did the man have to be rude about it? Hm.. where all the men on this island rude? The other one.. Aleksey looked over to Keith. He had an irritated look on his face just like Alex did. Aleksey turned his eyes back to Alex and sighed. He nodded and bent slightly putting his hands together in an almost Chinese style of a bow. He hadnt meant to piss anyone off.

"Spasibo. Sorry to be taking up time. I go now." Aleksey said gently as he took the map back and put it away in his long coat. "Pa-ka." He said stoically as he held up a hand in a goodbye. Turning Aleksey headed out of the kitchen and through the main part of the Inn before he made his way outside. Now he was confused and slightly upset, just cause he couldnt read English good didnt mean they had to look at him like he was a retard. He knew alot of things it wasnt his fault. And why couldnt he be in the kitchen when the other male had just walked back there so casually? Was it really that much of a problem? Or where just men here all assholes?

Shaking his head Aleksey took a deep breath in and let it out slowly. He didnt realize that he been crushing his flowers in his hands. Nor did he notice the dark look in his unique eyes, or that he had stopped outside the Inn to think of all that. "Nyet.." Aleksey said outloud. He refused to let his nice mood be ruined by mean people. Aleksey looked to the sun and it made him smile instantly. The warmth it provided, it really was such a nice thing. Plus.. one day Mother Russia would take control of the world and this little island and he would be the one being mean to the mean people here. With that thought..that made him smile darkly, Aleksey started walking again, heading towards the shops.

"I dont know, or as ve say in Deutsche. Ich viess nicht. Vhich means, i know not."
Una said with a smile she tried one of the drinks they had ordered and let out a satisfied Ah~ "I ztink ve schould try ztis vone next." Una said as she pointed to another dish. She took her part of it and started eating it. Trying not to completely wolf things down. "So how ist die vork going heir? Gut? bad? Horrible boss?" Una asked gently.

Alex couldn't help but sigh as Aleksey left. He couldn't handle people like that. It's why he had always preferred the kitchen to the front. He never did well with strangers, especially dumbass ones. Yeah, the guy was a foreigner, he could tell by his accent, Russian or something, but that still didn't excuse him for walking into the kitchen. It had thrown Alex off, and he felt relieved now that it was over.

"Next time that happens," Alex turned to look at Keith, "feel free to step in and kick him out." Another reason for hiring a second chef? He had someone else he could get to do his dirty work for him! Oh, what fun it was, being the boss.

River paused to write down the phrase before nodding. "Got it." Now that Una had changed the subject, she set aside the notepad and the pen and instead focused on their next victimdish. She took a bite from her half, pausing to fully enjoy it. Oh, she loved Alex's cooking the best~ "It's harder than my last job," she replied after swallowing. That wasn't a hard thing, though. She had practically never been there! "But it's kinda fun. I get to meet new people and stuff," she smiled. It was a good job for a sociable person like herself! "But Alex is super strict. And then I have to deal with him at home..." She let out a sigh at the thought. "You get along with your boss, right, Una?"

Listening more and more to the man that had walked in the kitchen, Keith had that tickling sensation in him which he knew meant that he wanted to slice someone up. He hadn't cut himself in over a year, thanks to a lot of distraction, almost no drugs and extreme therapy, but when he was in front of idiots like that Russian man, he had no idea how long he would be able to resist before going all Psycho's shower scene on him with the first kitchen knife he could get his hand on. "I'll be happy too. God, what a moron." He replied to his boss with a half grin on his face. Only half because he was still a bit irritated over the whole thing. He could deal really easy with bitches and bastards, but morons? That just irked him.

He shook his head, walked toward one of the free counter of the kitchen, sure a prep table or osmething of the sort and jump on it to sat himself. He crossed his legs as his hands went to his left pocket to grab his pack of cigarette, bringing one to his mouth. He had almost topped drugs, that didn't meant he had stopped smoking like a chimney."You smoke?" He asked his boss. All cook smoked, it was a fact. Well, not all of them did, but most said they did. That was the best excuse to take a break when you were in a busy restaurant. Of course, he didn't lit it. He knew he couldn't smoke in the kitchen and didn't felt like getting fired on the first day; didn't stop him from at last feeling on his lips and tongue. "So? You want me to do something? Anything?"

"Ztat must be veird.. vorking vith your boss und zten seeing him at home." Una commented with a raised eyebrow. When River mentioned Freja, Una shook her head and smiled. "She ist ein veird vone but easy to get along vith. Just you migth have to do ein few questionable ztings to get ein sale. Aber ztat ist die selling business." Una said with a light shrug and smile. " Ve have ein octopus ztat constantly escapes from ist tank zat ist too small. Ist interesting ztough learning all die different remedies und such ztat arent normally prescribed by ein Docktor." Una added gently. "Und Freja herself ist ein gut vomen. Bit spacey... but not strict in die least. Long as you make an effort to get ein sale, ist pretty easy going ztere. Ztough not many people come in to get veird treatments." Una added.

Okay. So Keith was sitting on the counter. His counter. That he had bought himself. If Keith were Zhi, Alex would have yelled at him and kicked him off immediately. But he wasn't Zhi, he was a coworker, and if Alex had any hopes of having a harmonious kitchen, he couldn't snap at him on the first day. He could yell at him later. "What? Yeah, I do," his words were delayed as he struggled to break from his thoughts. "The door outside is back there," he added, jabbing his thumb in the direction of the back door. Well, he was glad that Keith didn't have an issue with smokers. That would have been annoying.

Next Keith asked if he could help out. Okay, so he could deal with this. Sure, there was an a** on his counter, but if Keith was ready to work... "It's quiet today," Alex scratched the back of his neck uncomfortably. "There's not much that needs to be done right now. Though..." he paused to think about it. Might as well take advantage of the situation, right? "I'd like to see you cook. Just something you'd make at home, or something." Watching someone cook was the best way to assess their skills and style, right? Also, it would get him off the counter.

River ate quietly as she listened to Una speak, pausing to laugh at the mention of the octopus. It had been mentioned several times in their meetings, but she would never get tired of hearing about the octopus~ Someday, she'd like to see! "I still think your job is so cool," she commented with a grin. "Alex goes there a lot to see Freja, right? I keep on asking him to take me, but he says it's not for kids," she rolled her eyes. "I think he's just embarrassed that he likes to have his fortune read."

Was that a test? That totally was a test if Keith knew one! Ah! He'd prove to mister blue hair (Oh God, please, don't make him a relative to Kade...) who was the best cook in the kitchen! Sure, maybe Alex had been doing it for a while but what did it change? Maybe he had been doing it for too long! He was getting rusty! Now it was the time for a new (and more beautiful~) generation to take over. "Alright." He said as he umped down the counter. H could totally do this... he just had to figure out what to do. His worst was in desert, so of course, he'd stay as far away as those as possible, his best, however, was things that needed to be sliced, mostly appetizers, and mostly French, thanks to the huge recipe book that Gladice had given him, but... that might just be a bit too extravagant. Showing off too much was as bad as ******** everything up.

So, he'd go in between and just make a normal meal... hey, at least he could eat it without having Conor pick bites in it. More for him! yay! He walked toward the walk-in refrigerator and started to look around to find the various things he would need. After a good ten minutes (hey, new fridge! He didn't know where the things were in it), he came back out with a slice of Salmon, lemon, asparagus, snap peas and mushroom. He went to the prep table where he had been sitting, stared at it for a moment, and sigh. Yeaaah, that had been a bad idea. He frowned a bit, trying to find out how to hold everything in his arms as he whipped the table with sanitized... And then, he saw it. A green cutting board! Yes! Saved by the board! He grabbed it and placed all his food but the salmon over it. Seafood mixed with somethign else? Yeah, he had been hit behind the head in the past for doing that, so he knew better as to do it. "Hey, you have a Cvap here? Or do I have to steam it old way?"

"Ja he does come to ztink of it." Una said pondering lightly, as she dug into another dish, they were almost done by now. "Ztese are all so gut!" She said with a smile. Alex broke into a slight smile as Keith agreed. He was reassured that this was a worthwhile choice, since he seemed ready to cook, and at the same time, he was curious as to what his new coworker would make. And he got off the counter! Wins all around! And so the man crossed his arms and took a step away, trying to give Keith as much room as he could, and watched. It took him a while to assemble the necessary ingredients and tools, but he was new, he'd figure out where things were eventually. River knew her way around the kitchen pretty well since she had helped him put things away, so he could even get her to show him around.

"Yeah, over there," Alex replied, gesturing to the stainless steel oven tucked away at the end of the counter. Even though his budget had been tight and he wasn't able to deck out his kitchen as much as he had wanted, it was still filled with new appliances. He had worked at some shitty places in the past, so of course he'd be excited to buy shiny new things with cool technology. "Sorry if things are in weird places. Space constraints and all that... Someone will show you where things are." Someone, meaning River.

River slowed down as she felt herself start to get full. She was almost at a comfortable spot, but of course, she wouldn't stop there. She'd keep eating until she was just about rolling on the table in discomfort. Thank god for a fast metabolism! "They are, aren't they? Alex's cooking is the best!" she replied with a goofy grin before pausing thoughtfully. "No, I guess I don't need him... I'll come by after my shift one of these days! I want to see the octopus!"

Wonderful, he wouldn’t be working in a crappy kitchen like he was going to be working in. He had been afraid for a moment, but eh, weird kitchen he could do. One just had to look at his and Conor’s old apartment to see how he was used to work in an unorganized place. He took an aluminum plate, threw the fish in it and then placed it in the steamer. There, now he didn’t have to worry about the salmon anymore. At least, not until it was cooked. ”If the kitchen was too small for you, you should have let Conor expend before renting the place out of him.” He informed Alex. Of course, the blue haired man couldn’t know that Conor was going to expend the place, which was information that only those who slept with the owner could know, but the boy wasn’t thinking about that for now.

He returned to his cutting board where he’d.. Well, cut his vegetables away. Chopping, slicing, mincing, making confetti’s out of them. God he loved cutting so much, it was almost unhealthy… wait a sec.. it’s Keith we’re talking about, cutting was totally unhealthy of him. At least he wasn’t doing it on himself anymore? Yeah, that was an improvement. A major one even. ”Hey, can you get me some butter, cream and white wine? I’d probably take way too ******** long looking for them.” He asked Alex as he moved toward the broiler, grabbed a skilled and three the minced vegetables in it.
