Val now shook with desperate rage. his mind was racing, he tried to think of something quick to bid. he had to be carefull, or he'd give up something far too valuable by mistake.

but he was anything but careful. and before he could stop himself, he sputtered "My Moving Mansion!" he caught himself and quickly added "For a full Lunar Cycle, along with all non-organic items within it. and my previous two offers on top of it."

Sam groaned. "what will you do with her, Valthier... the mood in this room has become so villainous...I'd bid my Violin, if I but had it still with me."

"For a genuine 17th century Stradivari violin, you could have her," Scarlet smiled at Sam. Then she turned to the dark and frantic vampire glaring at Devonte. "Val, darling, as much as I would enjoy your moving mansion and your complete submission for a night, and even as tempting as pound of your flesh is...None of that helps me build an empire, now does it? Don't get me wrong, precious, I'd be happy to vex my brother and turn the girl over to your care, but the point of the auction was ultimately the forwarding of the empire. Now, a lycan for a fortnight--can you imagine how that would affect the Red and Black courts? They've worked so hard to control the species and here I come with one on a leash! It's positively diabolical, and unless you can come up with something better..."

Val's pointed ears perked and he jerked his head slightly in Scarlet's direction.

"did you say... Lycan?" he asked, incredulously. the last he dealt with Lycanthropes was unfortunately very messy, but he held high Respect for them. and they truely were gifted creatures.

his wits returned at the new thoughts, he relaxed his muscles a bit and unclenched his fists. his thoughts were twirling, but he found coherency in the cyclone of concepts.

"I daresay, I don't have anything to top my Mansion. it is quite useful, a marvel of a construction if I do say so myself. but I can build a creation as useful to your specific needs as my Mansion is to mine;" he said confidently.

"A Portal equally as grand or better, linking each door to eachother. you can have, as my bid, my personal services as your Portal Master indefinitely. I will Craft Portals for you at you will."

he then walked over to help Sam stand up, and afterwards took a seat, awaiting further responses. he told himself silently that that would be his final bid; he would offer no more.

"thank you, Sam." he whispered to his friend. "you're quite right, I went too far."

Watching Val calm down was just as satisfying to Cassandra as if he were to go completely insane.

"Alas, dearest Scarlet, I have no more useful things to bid." She still smiled, however, as if she won. Cas could not wait until everyone met her pet. She was hoping on keeping it mostly a suprise, but some things are easier said then done.

If a vampire could yawn, Cassandra would. Dawn seemed to be approaching much to quickly, as she was having far too much fun.

"My pet should be arriving in the late morning." Cassandra began, "I have forgotten if you have daywalking servants, but if you do, would you mind giving her a humble welcome? You see, I put her on the train thinking that it would be a good experience for her before realizing that they are not quite the most comfortable nor timely mode of transportation."

"Such powerful portals of my own would indeed be helpful--especially when the Red and Black courts start sending their dirty little assassins after me." The offer was more appealing than she let show. The idea of a room or home that could not be traced would be very advantageous, and she could finally do something without Devonte knowing about it. "Are you sure you don't have a Stradivari squirreled away somewhere, Sam? Well, I suppose if you did, I couldn't demand such a treasure for so paltry a peasant. And Cassandra, are you sure you have nothing more of value? Maybe I could take your pet off your hands for keeps? No? Oh well. It was worth a try. Then, my dear Valthier, for your services as my personal portal Master and the creation of something similar to your moving mansion, you may have the Wretch, to do with as you will. Her life, death, and possibly undeath, is in your capable hands," Scarlet declared regally.

Devonte still stood protectively between Wretch and the vampires. His glare told Valthier that he wanted the payment to be made in full to Scarlet's satisfaction before he stepped aside. Devonte himself was a little perplexed about why he was so uncharacteristically emotional about Wretch's fate, but as in all things, he yielded to Scarlet. Women like Wretch were a dime a dozen, he reminded himself, and he knew his sister would shower him with as many human servants as he could ever desire--had offered to do so on more than one occasion. Still, this whole business did not sit well with him.

Scarlet turned to Cassandra to reassure her. "They will be ready for her. And don't be surprise that I know your pet's heritage--I could smell her all over you. It is faint, but I've only caught that odor once before in the deep forests of Germany. The creature was stalking me--right to one of my galas, no less. I would never mistake it."

"I assure you, she is nothing like that, dear Scarlet." Cassandra smiled. It now took all the resistance she had not to peer into Valthier's mind and know exactly what he was going to do with the wretch, but she had to remind herself that not all affairs had to be known. To try to focuz on something else, she honed in on her pet, who was aproaching rather slowly by train. It was just past the next mountain. Cassandra focused on her pet's breathing, the thrum of the train's wheels, the hissing of the engine.

-------------------------

The night serviceman was doing his rounds on the train, indulging himself by peering through windows left unwittingly unblinded by unassuming passengers. His glance now fell upon a young redheadded girl obviously dreaming on the small passenger bed. Her eyes rolled in their sockets behind the eyelids, her face and legs twitching, as if she were running after or away from something. The girl's mouth began to move, and a faint sound emitted, as if she were barking. He could distinguish no words.

Suddenly, all of her body movements began to cease. A feeling of unease grew over him, and before he knew it, just as he was planning on walking away, he was staring right into a set of dark blue eyes. The girl had such a fierce gaze and it startled him so that he fell back into the wall of the hallway. Then, strangest of all, she bared her teeth at him as he stood up, and walked away, continuing his rounds. As he glanced over his shoulder one last time (to at least remember whether or not she slept in the nude), she was gone, most likely back to her bed to sleep. He hoped.

Valthier grinned in surprised joy, as his bid won. he stepped towards the girl, to be faced with a still apprehensive Devonte, and had to await his prize.

"I'll have my way with it in my quarters for tonight, later. in the meantime, it can be my lap-pet." he declared, referring to his new prize as an item rather than as a person. "I'll gladly be of service on call, milady. I'll need supplies, of course."

he pulled the girl, who seemed stiff with fear, into his lap as he sat down again, and played with her hair. he seemed completely obsessed with her, as though she were a toy.

"may I name it, Scarlet?" he asked, like a spoiled child. "I would very much like to give it a name."
PostPosted: Wed Nov 17, 2010 12:01 am

Devonte grudgingly let Val pull Wretch from behind him. He refused to look away even for a second as Val toyed with the girl like she was a Barbie Doll. It disgusted him. Even though he did not really care about humans, it seemed risky to frivolously treat a young woman who didn't appear to have any ties. She could be a hunter's daughter or partner or even a hunter herself. He was furious that Scarlet hadn't taken the time to thoroughly investigate her before giving her to an allegedly close and valuable friend. He cursed himself to being so used to following Scarlet that he let a threat to her and her burgeoning empire go un-investigated. But he didn't want to speak up now; it would make him look petty in front Cassandra. He just wouldn't let Wretch out of his sight until he was certain she wasn't a threat or threatened.

"Any name is better than the one she has," Scarlet said. "And after the ball tomorrow night, I'll expect you to get to work. I will provide all the materials you need--I'll send the order out this morning, so if you could make a list, my servants would appreciate it. I send them on enough wild goose chases as it is. After you have constructed my first portal to my retreat in Japan, you may have her as a bed mate. Until then, I'll keep her in one of my closets, only taken out to be your lap pet." Then she turned to everyone else. "Don't let this episode disappoint you, lovelies, I have plenty more favors to bestow. In fact, I am willing to grant one for each of you as a sign of good faith."

She walked over to the speaking tube in the wall and softly made gave an order to her servants on the other end.

the Elf was so pleased that he didn't even mind being forced to wait to have his fill of flesh. his lips curled in an evil smile, and he stroked the girl's exposed neck, causing her to shover and close her eyes tightly.

"I'll call it 'mouse', because it squeeks." he said. "and is perfect prey. I'll play with it, like a Cat does with a Mouse." he said all this without taking his eyes off of her.

then he turned to look at Scarlet. "Japan, ah? I'll need to visit each place I build a Portal. I'll have the list made this morning before bed then, since I'll be without company. would you like me to bring it to you at the Ball, or leave it for your servants to find?"

he was actually looking realy forward to the job, though he worried about the length of the task, and the time he'd be spending away from his usual affairs.

Sam, meanwhile, looked to Devonte, and saw that he was still as uneasy as he was about Valthier's behavior. a wave of conflicting emotions swept over him, and he looked to Scarlet as well.

their Hostess seemed completely uneffected by the state of the girl, only moments ago called 'Wretch', and now named 'mouse'. how could she be so cruel as to engage in Human Trafficking? he knew she had done it before, and probably still did, but even then she was usually saving and rescuing the victims, not feeding them to vicious predators, or auctioning them off like paintings and sculptures.

then again, it was Val, whom they all trusted. but could they trust him after his display?

no! don't think such ill thoughts, Sam! these are your Friends! of course you can trust them. they wouldn't do anything evil. he told himself.

Markius smiled from within his coffin silently reflecting on what he had seen through Wretch's eyes, Valthier should prove easy to manipulate. His compatriot might prove... problematic though. It seems her own motives did indeed show as soon as expected Markius permitted himself an ice cold fanged grin, All is as I have foreseen. All shall soon follow my plans, and those weak humans shall feel my terrifying powers once more...

Ciro simply shook his head at Val's antics, and finished his wine. Somewhat bored, he pulled out his USP and began cleaning it. The mention of favors piqued his interest, but only for a moment. A faint noise coming from outside, on the other hand, suddenly caught his attention. "What is that? I know I've heard it before...."

--------------------

*whuppa whuppa whuppa*
"You hear that?"
"Your ride has arrived."

"What do you see on thermal?"
"Two figures, third story window. Several on the ground, a few in the towers.... wait. one of the figures in the window has activated an IR beacon."
"That's the package. Move in."

Cassandra almost flinched as the deafening roar of the helicopter ripped her back to the reality of the room. Her pet was just fine, but now this massive machine was starting to give her a headache.
"Scarlet, did you know that this would be the mode of transportation for our beloved jamie?" Cassandra spoke, beating back the will to shout the words, as the helicopter seemed so loud to her. Perhaps it was because she was tired, or too focused on very distant sounds, she did not know.

"I actually have not had the pleasure of meeting Jamie," Scarlet said darkly, walked away from the speaking tube to the window. "I am insulted that he didn't ask permission to intrude on my airspace. Ciro, with me, we're going to have a little talk with Jamie." She tightened the belt on her robe, still leaving plenty of cleavage visible, and marched out of the room.

"Yes ma'am." Ciro finished reassembling his gun, holstered it, and followed Scarlet out of the room.

-----------------------

Alfons opened the window, and the wind from the chopper blew in. The crew threw Jamie and him a headset.
"So how you want to do this?"
"Jamie will be jumping out the window."
"I'll be WHAT?! The hell with that! I ain't gonna jump outta no window!" Jamie took three steps back.
"We're at bingo fuel, so get your arse on-board, over."
"Verdammt, Mann! Jump!"
"FINE!" He sprinted at full speed toward the window and leapt out. "s**t!" He was a little short of the landing skid, and started to fall.
"Gotcha!" One Alfons's troops had leaned out to catch him, along with the pilot tilting the craft, then compensating to avoid the building. This had the unfortunate side effect of throwing one of the mercs out of the helicopter. He managed to grab a ledge between the 2nd and 3rd floors.
"Leave him here gentlemen. He will accompany me for the remainder of my stay."
"Yes sir! Let's get out of here."
"Thanks for the info Alfons!" Jamie radioed. Alfons just smiled as the helicopter flew off. Shortly after, he heard the door burst open.

Cassandra wasn't sure if it was anger or curiosity, or quite possibly both she had felt from Scarlet, but she was sure of the fact that this was not likely to end well for Jamie or Alfons. Suddenly, she picked up a new thought pattern, and had to refrain yet again from prying.
"Devonte," Cassandra spoke in her low, bell-toned voice, "I'm sure it's been a stressfull night for you, but won't you please sit?" She paused, "Surely you cannot be comfortable standing fro all of eternity. I do not believe I've ever had the luxury of seeing you at rest."
