"Are these...cactus spines?!" Jane demanded. How had her mate gotten into something like that in this region? The female pup eyed the cactus plush suspiciously. "Tell me what happened...and where you got that...thing!" she insisted, even as she began to care for his wounds.

"I'm fine..." The male whined, squirming a bit as the needles were removed. "and the plush has nothing to do with the spines....."

"Then start from the beginning....I want to know everything," Jane responded briskly. The female yanked another spine from her mate's coat and spat it aside. "Could you get some water?" she asked, turning to face Cypher as she awaited John's story. Once she was finished, his coat would need to be cleaned of the blood that now matted his soft fur.

Stretching a bit, Cypher ran off out of the cave to go get some water. Woooo fun times...not.
Yiping a bit, John cringed and watched his mate remove the spines. "The plush came from a human in the meadow....he's real nice...gave Cypher some steak too..." John fidgeted, limbs twitching. "The cactus needles...came from me wandering into the wrong patch of plants....maybe it's someone's garden or something...I don't know..."

"A..human?! You consorted with a human, John?!" She yanked out a spine rather roughly, upset by this sudden revalation for a reason not altogether known by even her.

John yelped loudly, struggling to squirm away from the female. "Yes....what's the big deal?!"

"You can't just go around talking to humans John!!" Jane scolded. "They could....decide to take you home and keep you or something!!"

"Like I'd let them do that..." John whined a bit, settling back down.
Cypher returned, hauling a small bucket with some water in it.

Jane pulled the last of the thorns free and accepted the water from Cypher with gratitude. "Thank you." Returning to John's wounds, she cleaned his fur with the assistance of a leaf and the cool liquid. "I'm not so sure, John. You've done a lot of supid things for silly reasons..."

John growled at his mate, swatting her away and rising to his paws. Glaring at the female, the pup slowly headed towards the cave entrance, apparently quite pissed off at her choice of words.
Cypher nodded to Jane, watching the fight unfold between the two.

"John! Where are you going?! I'm not finished with you yet!" Jane shouted after him, her brow furrowing slightly. What? Now that the thorns were out, he was going to go off romping into more trouble?!

John stumbled slightly, but quickly regained his composure and continued towards the exit. The pup tucked his wings in close to his body, every bit of his stance taking on the look of someone hurt...and ticked off because of it.
"You...might want to go after him." Cypher watched, stating the obvious. "He doesn't seem too happy with what you said..."

Jane shot Cypher a cold glare before rushing off after her mate. "John....come back inside," she began, catching up to him.

Cypher merely smirked, returning to his own side of the cave and thus his contraption.
"What...afraid I'm going to go off and do something stupid?" The male pup snarled, continuing his journey without even so much as a glance in Jane's direction.

"John...I didn't mean it....exactly..like that," Jane struggled. "But you have to admit, some of the things you do aren't the most intelligent choices...like walking into a garden of cacti..."
