Aw, now all their furry friends were gone... Becca watched Agro wander off with a pout upon her lips, still nibbling slowly at her chip bag. She remained that way for a while, standing in the middle of the hallway, swaying side to side as if brimmed with impatience. She didn't like sitting still for too long...

"Me?" She blinked, glancing toward Lake again. There was a pause, her brow wrinkling as she frowned to herself, then sharply raised a finger in realization. "Two days!" she concluded. "I think. I went to sleep once, so... two days. I can't see any light. Have you found a window in here? How long have you been awake?" she went on, slipping into another slight ramble.

"Buhh..."

Lake found all the questions dizzying...or perhaps that was just his head. He shook it, hoping that might help, and raked a hand through his hair.

It's a good thing you're hot, kiddo.

"Two days, huh..." It was a wonder she hadn't run into anything dangerous...it was a wonder she hadn't been killed. "Look, uhh...if you see a window, let me know, all right?"

Like there were any windows. As far as Lake could tell, it was just endless hallways and dark, dank rooms...

Still...surely...there HAD to be a door somwhere. A door to the outside. A door to freedom.

He sighed again, and a slight frown touched his features. "Dunno how long I've been awake," he grunted shortly. I just...know I was alone...for a very long time.

Then again...he had always been alone, hadn't he? He liked it. He liked being alone...

And yet, there had always been people around him. Random passersby on the street. Gangs in alleys, drug dealers. Plenty of people around him, just none that he knew, none that knew him. None that even spoke to him.

This place was different...in this place, one could find themselves totally, utterly alone. Lake wouldn't doubt there were dead bodies somewhere in the mazes, of those who had not been able to find their way out of the endless array of corridors...had been alone.

" Yeah, I'd like to take a look around. Maybe I can dig up an exit somewhere. Or some water." He said, getting up. There must be some kind of bathroom or something here. It was reasonable to assume that if there was power, then the plumbing might still be working as well. " If we can't find any pants then maybe a makeshift skirt or something. I hear canvas is a big hit in France." He joked, he could sense a lot of discomfort and stress coming from the girl and attempted to ease a little worry. " Should we go now or do you need a minute?" He asked, a just in case before he trotted off before she was ready.

Becca glanced up at him, head tilted as she waited patiently for a response. Or, maybe impatiently based upon the restless swaying her body continued. But she managed to keep silent until he spoke, and then quickly bobbed her head up and down.

"'kay!" she cried, offering a salute. She wouldn't mind finding a window herself. This place was so dark and dull... It did look like a place where ghosts would pop up, so she didn't fully blame that guy. But she partially did, because she wasn't the slightest bit ghost like!

"You don't know?" she added a second later, staring at Lake again. "Does that mean you've been awake a long time then? Have you explored a lot? What have you found?!" she asked with steadily growing excitement. "What, what? How many people? Can they all do neat things? Can you?!"

"Just a bit of an oddball."

Absently, Kira tipped the chip bag to her lips to make sure she got every crumb, then crumpled up the bag and pocketed it. Even now, the mindset of littering being bad was stuck with her, keeping her from simply dropping it to the floor, no matter how ruined it now was.

"Yeah, I could really... make due with anything," she replied quietly, her cheeks still glowing red. He was a wolf, but she figured he had a human side as well, and he could talk and had a mind of his own. That meant she had the right to be embarrassed. So both hands had taken up the task of keeping herself properly covered.

"I guess I'm ready, but I can't find my l-locket..." she whimpered, voice breaking at the end, causing her to trail off. She glanced over the floor again, bowing her head as she swallowed hard to recover. "...I've looked everywhere, but I.. just can't find it..."

"What if I were to...
...disappear...

...in front of your very eyes?"

Running down the hallway, he answered her questions with only a slight shortness of breath. "For their ages, I'd say the metal-man was probably a bit older than me. And then there was another person. A young girl, probably no more than twelve. But the strange thing was that she was completely calm around the man, even as he tore up the surrounding area." Shaking his head at the thought of the strange girl, he almost the screams. Almost.

"Well dear, it seems that you aren't the only one hearing screams. I hear them too. And if it has anything to do with that booming sound that we heard moving towards us earlier, I think it would be in our best interests, if survival is your best interest, to get out of here and lose the thunder." He said, glancing behind himself every so often to make sure nothing was following him.

"Uh...um..."

He was getting more ulcers, he just knew it. Had someone given this kid a packet of sugar earlier, or something? And...had she just saluted him?

"L...look, I..."

Furthermore, her questions promptly made him realize he felt kind of...useless.

What HAD he found?

"I...uh..." He rubbed the back of his head. "Well, there's...there's the practice room...and...these isolation booths...and uh...um...these cells everyone wakes up in. Uh...there's also a...bathroom. Um..." He cleared his throat, hastening to move on to her next question. He wasn't sure he would call a man who had ripped a hole through his chest 'neat', exactly...

"I don't know how many people there really are here, but yeah, it looks like they all have special powers and stuff." He frowned. "But listen...just because they do, doesn't mean you should run around trying to find them, all right? In fact, that's exactly why you shouldn't. This place is dangerous...and so are some of the people in it. You shouldn't trust anyone, anywhere. Especially not here." He frowned. "You never know when you're gonna run into somebuh...buhhh...some....butt...."

In an almost snakelike motion, Lake's tongue darted out from between his teeth and disappeared again as he spotted two figures moving down the hallway toward them...one figure in particular, in fact...

"Hnn...I was right. Fur definitely didn't suit you," he mused, his eyes roaming unapologetically over whatever he could see of Kira's hips. He paused, as though some kind of better judgement was about to kick in, but then grabbed Becca's chip packet and threw it on the ground. "Heyyy...Kira...you wanna bend over and get that for me~?"

"Practice room? Booths? Bathroom?" Becca echoed, excitement not ebbing in the slightest. In fact, it seemed to be growing, and she rocked forward, looking fully ready to bolt off to see for herself. But she stumbled after two steps and caught herself at Lake's added remarks.

"What? Why not..?" she whined, even though he had just explained why. But, she was confident in her escaping capabilities! Even if she didn't know how to control her teleporting and was somewhat afraid of landing inside of a wall.

How would that even work? Would she be crushed, or join with the wall? Could she stick her hand through and freak people out? Hmm...

She would've pondered longer if the wolf hadn't returned, but he was with a girl instead of a panther. "...fur? Kira? You're the panther!" she cried, looking quite proud for discovering the fact. Then, she promptly yelped as Lake stole her empty bag. "Hey!"

Meanwhile, Kira looked quite the opposite. Or rather, she appeared to be seething. Her arms were stiff by her sides, tugging the sweatshirt as far down as it would allow, which was barely enough. At least with the zipper completely up, her chest was safe from view. Though, she wasn't sure which she'd prefer... Obviously, she'd ideally want nothing to slip.

"Back. Off." Her tone lowered, snarling at him almost as dangerously as the panther, and the look in her eyes seemed even worse. If looks could kill, Lake would've crumpled instantly into a useless heap upon the ground. Sadly, that wasn't possible, so Kira contented herself with staring at him with a look of deep, deep loathing, offset only by the blazing red blush across her face.

Staring straight ahead, she swept right past him, one hand tugging the sweatshirt behind her so he would not get even the slightest peek.

She was in no mood for his perverted comments and the loss of her necklace had only added to the situation.

"Y...yes ma'am," Lake mumbled, shrinking back a little as Kira stormed past him...although he couldn't help but sneak a peek once her back was turned, just in case. He recovered quickly, scrambling to his feet and hastening after her like a lost puppy. "Hey...hey, where are you going? What were you and the wolf doing? Where were you? Would you like to share my pants with me?" he couldn't help adding onto the end. "Hey, wait up!"

"Don't walk behind me!" Kira raged, whirling on Lake to cast another deadly look. Her nerves were at their breaking point, but she had a feeling he wouldn't back off so easily, especially now. She'd felt his eyes looking her over a second ago.

"He's the only one who bothered to check on me!" she snapped out, nearly shouting. "I'm looking for clothes, and... and shut up!" But she didn't look at him this time. She just kept marching forward on bare feet over the dirty ground, arms stiff in front and behind her. She moved quickly as well, as if determined to leave him behind. But then, she stopped quite sharply in place, head turning to stare at the wolf, letting her gaze purposely avoid even glancing toward Lake.

"...do you have any idea where some might be?" she asked, her voice suddenly losing the venomous undertone. He had, after all, found chips. It looked like he'd gotten everyone some too, so maybe he could find a storage closet that had something useful inside? One could hope, at least.

Becca observed the show with a quiet interest, her hands clasped together as she continued to sway, glanced toward Agro, and then slowly started to trail after them. She kept her distance though. If she got too close she might miss something, like Lake getting slapped. Or, she might end up getting slapped herself! She'd rather keep back.

"...I bet he can!" she couldn't help piping up. "He found those chips like.. like magic!"

"Fear. Fear is my ally."

The booming only got louder and louder, as if a horrible storm was growing and nearing; despite their running, it approached with an unnatural fury. Finally, the source of the noise rounded the corner, and as Craig looked back, his eyes might have been blinded by the perpetual flashing of white light, followed by the ear-splitting thunder booms.

Only, if he paid attention to the split-second intervals between lightning flashes, he would have noticed two things. There was a sudden appearance (and disappearance) of a white-haired man in odd clothing in between every bolt, almost like the subliminal flash messages in modern films. He was there for the briefest of seconds, and then gone with the next lightning bolt... only to reappear where the bolt had connected to, whether it be the wall or ceiling. It was like the inverse of a rave or horror film, where the lights would flicker off and people would be in different positions; in this situation, it wasn't the lack of light, but the intensity of light.

The second thing he might have noticed (if he paid close enough attention to sounds besides thunder) was another, different noise... a strange, almost bodiless shout that occurred in the same intervals.

Lake flinched slightly again, and obediently skirted around to walk at her side instead...regardless, he did not stop following her.

"H...hey now, you're the one who walked off! Would you rather I have walked in on you?" He wriggled his eyebrows a little. "Maybe I was just being a gentleman!"

Yeah, right.

His almost eager demeanor began to fade, however, as the attention of both girls suddenly turned toward Agro. Depending on him? Fawning over him?

"H...hey!" he piped up anxiously, trying to get some attention. "M...maybe I know where some clothes are! Why aren't you asking ME?" He folded his arms, sulking a little. "I...I coulda found those chips, you know! It's not like y-you asked me to find chips! You can depend on ME to find clothes and food!" He thumped his chest proudly, but quickly realized it was still injured and, instead, let out a hacking wheeze and plopped back onto the ground.

"I...I can do it!" he persisted stubbornly in a noiseless rasp.

xxxxϚo...what?! "You mean to tell me...you left a twelve year old girl alone with a killer?!" If, of course, there was a crazed psycho maniac roaming the halls. If there was, this guy was a creep! Even if the girl was strange, you shouldn't leave a child alone. He was going to be a horrible father! Mark him off the list for a possible prince charming. He wasn't even princely in the slightest. Ugh. So much for knight in shining armor, huh? Fine. She'll just settle for...acquaintances. Craig, thou art now an acquaintance.

...Craig. It wasn't a very princely name either, for that fact. Oh, she should have read the signs!

"Dear...? Anna-Marie, or Anna is fine, thank you." ...Great, he was hinting that someone else was the cause of this. She didn't belong in a place like this! It wasn't natural! She was utterly sane! Looking over at him for a moment, she stopped running. "How do we know someone doesn't need our help, hmmm? You're a man, aren't you? Shouldn't we go see if someone needs us? Sure, one against a psycho killer isn't going to work out, but now that I'm here, that'll be two, and whoever is screaming might help as well. I don't know about you, but I can't just run away while someone else might be getting hurt. So...are we going to go see what's going on, or are you going to keep selfishly running away?"

The Shadow Man

"What if I were to...
...disappear...

...in front of your very eyes?"

Stopping, he stood and looked at her for a moment. "So...what you're basically telling me...is that I was selfish to run away and save my life? From a psychotic man who didn't hesitate to drop a metal door on me that would have killed me if I didn't avoid it? That I left after the man and I only watched as the little girl left with him? She wasn't getting hurt. She didn't even seem to be in any danger. I thought that she was the one giving him his powers. Of course I left! I'd rather like to live and find my way out of here. Maybe there are other kind people here. Maybe. Maybe the screaming people are going to be kind. But have you considered that they might be screaming because they are being attacked? Perhaps by the metal-man, or perhaps by somebody worse? Well, sorry for wanting to live. I'll be sure to run it by you the next time I consider losing my life!" He finished, practically shouting at the useless girl. During his little rant, his voice had steadily gotten louder, almost to the level of the thunder sounds.

And that goddamn thunder! What was with it!? Turning to look back, he noticed the thunder now was interspersed with lightning. Lovely. It was getting to the point where it was getting hard to think the noise was so intense. And, he might have been going crazy, but he thought he might have seen somebody in between the lightning, which probably wouldn't be so out of place in this messed up place.

Letting go of Anna's hand, he turned and faced the oncoming lightning before making a rather rude gesture with his right hand that involved most of the fingers curled into a fist with one standing straight out. "Piss off you goddamn lightning bug!" He shouted, his voice loud enough to match the thunderous booms. He had almost been killed by a psychotic b*****d, he met one of the most annoying girls he'd ever known, and now there was a thunderstorm heading towards him. Craig was not amused. So fixated on the thunder, he didn't notice that, while he stood ramrod straight, his shadow quivered, as if a sudden breeze had blown and shook it. It was only for an instant, and it was very hard to see, but if one had been concentrating on his shadow, they might have noticed.

" I gotta be honest, I enlisted the help of some rats running around in the ventilation system of this place. I'm not sure where they're getting it. But, you know, maybe the rats are magic." He said, animals were a lot smarter than they let on, but 'by a lot' means that they could do more intelligent things, but don't because instincts and things get in the way, and smart and intelligent are two different things. " If worst comes to worst Kira, maybe we can rip something up and use that. Or like, maybe there's some towels in a washroom somewhere. Either way, we should get moving." Agro really wanted to see more of this place, clothes were secondary in his mind, he wanted to help the poor girl out, but if they escaped he'd steal her some expensive jeans.
