Panata cheered inwardly as the green impressed to a girl he had recalled seeing when they came in, and he also though highly of the new Queen for allowing someone to go before her. Sometimes power could be shown in many different ways, not just through demanding respect from others, and Panata felt that this gold knew exactly where she wanted to stand.

The most recent egg cracking had caught his attention through the sound, though he dared not move his eyes away from the Gold. Panata was already hurt enough as it was, and even if this new hatching could be his . . .well. Things would come to pass.

- ---

Leicha turned his head fully towards the cracked egg, his fear and reverence of the queen not entirely as high as the others around him. He wasn't afraid something wild and crazy would burst from this shell, not with a Gold now on the sands.

Still, there was a hint of nervousness inside, one that mace him sweep his eyes to the injured scattered around the hatching grounds. Could any more of them take further damage, or would everything go smoothly?

He doubted the smooth.

Anale tensed as the little queen finally left the boys and made her way over to the line of female candidates, looking over each one as she went. Moment of truth it seemed... and the young healer's stomach was in knots. It was like the climax of the hatching, like everything had been building up to this moment...

The sound of cracking, off and barely noticeable, caught Anale's attention and she flicked a glance towards the remaining eggs, blinking as she noticed another egg in process of hatching. Well! That one wouldn't have much of an audience for its entrance into the world, with every eye on the queen, but it wouldn't go unnoticed for long. Anyone not impressed by the queen would be watching it hungrily, hoping for a kind of consolation prize.

Anale though... she just thrummed with tension and suppressed excitement. She might regret not impressing later, but for now, it was enough for her just to be on the stands with one of the best views to watch the unfolding drama. Living the excitement, being there first hand when it all happened! She'd be quite popular at the crafthall for a while as she related this story, whether she liked it or not.

Nadia watched as the queen inspected the girls bowing her head farther as the gold got closer to her, peeking through her bangs she watched the gold and cought her eye when she got close causing her to duck her head again.
She heard the creaking of another egg and glanced out the side of her eye to see that it was the Spring Flowers egg.

Trista waited patiently while the gold inspected her and the other female candidates thinking that she was a beautiful and amazing creature but whomever bonded to her had her work set out for her.

She glanced up at the sound of another egg cracking.

Oh dear. Oh dear. This...this was nerve-wracking. The way the queen was looking over all the girls, even the ones whom she surely couldn't impress...why, whatever was she doing? Kyllae swallowed, trying to clear her thoughts. What was the girl thinking? She was quite special, that was for sure, but what was she playing at?

Kyllae's eyes jumped to the Spring Flowers egg when it became active as well, but, honestly, it was hard to find a mere egg exciting when there was an actual dragonet not far from her, and a very intriguing, beautiful, gold one at that.

Gyl, though he had been watching the Gold just as the girls had been, was drawn away from the beautiful hatchling by the Spring Flowers egg's cracking. He focused his attention on this new dragonet emerging, curious as to what it could be.

There would be chaos and joy to come, and this egg would bring with it the happier of the time. The blue that emerged was quite a lovely little thing, decorated with darker spots and light claws. In record time, he bounded toward one girl in particular. Obviously, he had already made up his mind.

Ayishiamine! I knew you would be here! I knew while I was still inside, when you were first near me! I am sorry I kept you waiting! Oh! Oh, no! I missed so much! Please, let us eat, and tell your Ptoth EVERYTHING!

The blue was beautiful, and Sellae felt her face light up as it bounded straight for His. Ahhh, the girl who had helped the first wounded boy! Sellae sent the girl a warm smile and a wink as much as she dared. "Congratulations!" she mouthed silently.

Nadia blinked as she watched the blue impress to his rider. "Wow.. that was kinda anticlimatic." She muttered to herself though she has happy for the two of them. She glanced at the clutch and noticed that about half had hatched now, pushing down the sinking feeling that she would be left on the sands she turned her attention back to where it belonged; on the queen.

As the blue appeared out of its egg, her head lifted slightly. It was a handsome lad, that much was certain as it bounded across the sands to his girl. It happened quickly, faster than any before it, and Amoreth found herself sighing happily. At least it brought no carnage or suspense with it, the latter being provided by the gold still surveying the female Candidates.

The artist began to trace the blue's markings in her mind, taking note of the shape of its head and the sway of its back. Oh, there would be many paintings after this made of the new denizens of the Weyr, as they were all so mystifying.

As the blue moved towards a girl without even hesitating, Panata tried to place her face. He couldn't recognize her as the one who'd come over to help him, who had worried over him, since most of everything seemed like a blur until the Healers had come about. Still, he was happy for whomever she was, and after a few moments of watching them interact, he swung his eyes towards the other eggs that sat on the sands.

The two eggs with the beautiful brown colored shells hadn't hatched, and he wondered if they were merely biding their time, waiting for a signal of some sort.

- -

If Leicha could recall correctly, the egg that had just hatched was the one that when he touched it, he felt like he knew something special - the gossiplike egg. Good thing it had passed him over, he probably wouldn't have wanted such a chatty egg anyway.

But there was still the fact that no one really chose their dragon, and he was running out of times to stand . . .

It seemed to Arolon that the queen valued all of her subjects. She inspected every girl candidate as if to show them they were all important to her, just that hers was that little extra someone she needed. She even gave us guys a little attention, if only to get us to give her a respectful bow fit for a queen. She hadn't made her choice yet, he didn't blame her for taking time to make such an important decision.

Spring Flowers Egg started hatching as if to purposefully steal the show away from the young queen. He looked up at the egg as it's shell cracked apart loudly. It seemed like she had waited for this moment, instead of impressing with her brother from Pink Raptor Egg. She divided the attention up. He wondered if this would anger the queen. Hopefully their wouldn't be another fight. He liked what that suggested of her personality, content not to take the spotlight, relaxed, but not going to be downright ignored. He had a feeling this would be a beautiful green. Then he found out he was wrong! A boucing baby blue came out and quickly impressed.

The bronze was given a nod, he bowed to her as she made us guys do. Again he was blown away by how honorable and respectful this bronze was. The timid behavior was somewhat expected for one of his color, but all that was put aside to protect his queen sister. He liked this bronze more than the one that had been fighting. He didn't think he was worthy enough for him though. He was a little different in personality. Oh, he was all for protection! Just a few traits he had that the dragon probably would not agree with.

His hope was still among the eggs.

One of the girl’s who couldn’t impress a gold didn’t mind the attention. Kestra couldn’t help her grin. Firstly for the little queens’s antics which were a bit cheeky...but her respect was being won for how the dragon seemed to be looking at each of them regardless. And secondly, she grinned for the two swift impressions of the green and blue. This was more like it!

The girl who’d helped the hurt boy – shards she needed to collect some names – certaintly had a cheerful seeming creature. She might look rather like a boy but she felt girly thinking how adorable he seemed.

*

Mishal meanwhile was back amongst the boys and dividing his attention between the various dragons once more, relaxed and calmly observing. Now there weren’t warring dragonets, it’d be business as usual on the sands again, he hoped. But you never knew. It wasn’t just the Tye Dye Egg that had been ‘full of surprises’ so far.

The queen still had not chosen, and was still going through the herd of girls. Each of them she looked in the eye. Eventually, as she made her way back around, she would stop in front of them and sit up enough to stare at them. But sadly for the candidates being judged, she would always drop back down and keep going.

The most colorful egg of all, the Blinding Red Egg rolled around on the sands. Much of the crowd sighed in relief the egg had not been damaged beyond repair during the scuffle between Teharth and Sakneth. Some still worried for it, but they need not do so.

The green who broke out, face first (it looked like she'd headbutted her way out), was healthy. Very small, but very healthy. She stomped up to the rest of the clutch and turned to the boys, glaring at them like each and every one had personally wronged her. The bronze greeted her with an affectionate croon, and she turned to him.

Oh, such hostility! The bronze did nothing but smile at his new clutchmate and bow his head, same as he had done the queen. Like magic, the green's demeanor changed entirely. She seemed fine with him after that, and headed for the girls.
