Rory's hands curled unconsciously. "Aye, it is. It's from th' sluagh blood. E'eryone born t' me family has it. I'm sorry, Lee's children will, too, if I'm th' father."

The only hint he gave of how disappointed he'd become was the slight twitch of the corner of his mouth. "That's... It really isn't... that bad. Just a bit startling at first..." He didn't want to insult the boy, or his future grandchildren, but didn't want to lie to him either. Clearing his throat a bit, he stepped closer for the door, nodding to Rory. "We should get down there."

Rory held up a hand, looking at it as he flexed his triple-jointed fingers. "I suppose it can be off puttin', but Lee knows about it bein' hereditary an' she doesnae mind. She likes me hands." The boy let his hand drop and looked up at Mr. Katan, nodding. "Alreet." He followed the man down the stairs to the dining room, feeling even more self-conscious in the borrowed shirt than he had in his t-shirt.

Lee had been waiting, wondering what was taking Rory so long and trying to keep from having to talk with Jeremy. At the sight of Rory all cleaned up, Lee gave him a bright smile, hurrying over to him. "You look..." She tugged at his shirt, smoothing it out even though there wasn't a wrinkle on it. "Very handsome." She giggled, biting her lip as she looked up at him. Just like he liked seeing her in a bikini, she liked seeing him in a white, collared, button-up shirt. Perhaps it came with being raised with prudes...
Mr. Katan moved over to the head of the table, nodding to his wife. "Sorry to keep you waiting. We should sit." He took his own seat, nodding to the others to do the same.

Rory gave Lee a shy smile, kissing her hand before moving to first help Mrs. Katan sit and then Lee. He sat down next to the girl, leaning close to her. "Do I really look alreet? I had t' borrow th' shirt from your da. Take me shoppin' tomorrow fae some new clothes, yeah?" He took in her dress and smiled. "You look beautiful."
Jeremy frowned a bit, watching the two, then sighed, trying to put on his best friendly face. "There's a shop not too far from here that's pretty good for casual dress clothes."

Blushing, Lee was more than a little surprised at how gentlemanly Rory was, smiling at the kiss on the hand and the help sitting. Covering her mouth as she smiled, rather flattered by his compliment, Lee wanted to thank him but was interrupted by Jeremy. "I dunno much about buying clothes for guys, actually. Where'd you say that place was?" She may actually need Jeremy's help now. He was being pleasant enough, though, so she was willing to take his suggestion.
Apparently having appreciated Rory's manners, Mrs. Katan looked over at the boy, not smiling, but not looking particularly cold. "You look nice, Rory. I can't say I'd mind if you decided to dressed like that all the time, at least while you're here." Sitting back as the servants poured the drinks and set salad in front of them, she looked a bit guilty still, but seemed to have collected herself since the fight.

"I can come by tomorrow and take you both," Jeremy said, shrugging. "Not sure if Rory knows much about the latest trends. I mean, that's not from the carnival, right?"
Rory shook his head. "Nae, I donnae know much on outsider culture, true. I'd appreciate it." He looked to Mrs. Katan. "Fae you, I'll try."

"You don't have to-- I mean, do you live far from here? I dun want you running back and forth over some clothes." Lee wasn't sure this "nice" thing was going to last all the way to tomorrow, not sure she wanted him to come along.
Mr. Katan sat in silence, keeping an eye on Jeremy as he ate his food. Things were uncomfortably calm, considering Rory had knocked the boy's tooth out moments ago.

"I don't really live that far away," Jeremy said, shrugging. "If you're set on being with him, you might as well make him presentable, right?"
Rory frowned a bit, but figured Jeremy had a point. "Yeah, I donnae want t' embarrass Lee or her parents."

Lee cocked her head a bit, getting a little defensive. "He looks good in whatever he wears." Turning to Rory, she shook her head. "You wouldn't be an embarrassment, anyway." And who exactly was he being seen by? Just Lee, her parents, and that kid sitting across from her who she was purposefully forgetting the name of. "Besides, who are we trying to impress?" She pouted, disliking Jeremy even more, even if he'd been trying to help. Perhaps everything he said upset her now.
Mrs. Katan chimed in. "Well, when you get married, I hope you don't plan to wear a ratty old t-shirt."

Rory looked at Mrs. Katan. "Nae, I wouldnae do tha'. I'll get a suit or somethin. I wanna look nice for Lee's special day." He knew from his older sister's wedding that the bride was the most important person on that day.

"Do you own a suit? Perhaps Jeremy could help you find one while you're out."
Lee blinked over at her mother, then to Rory, biting her lip. "What are you supposed to wear? I mean, traditionally?" She was enjoying taking advantage of talking about the wedding in front of Jeremy, smiling slightly as she worked on her salad. "And what does the bride usually wear?"
Mr. Katan sunk a bit in his seat, having looked forward to seeing his daughter in an actual wedding dress -- a wedding dress he was used to, anyway.

"Usually just dress in wor nicest clothes," Rory answered, working on his salad. "Brides usually wear white. I ain't really seen th' kinda dresses outsiders wear for weddin's but wor dresses are nice. Me sister can prolly show you her dress. She still has it."

Lee glanced over at her father, whose face had softened since Rory'd mentioned she'd be wearing a white dress, and she nodded. "Sounds like what we wear, I guess." Perhaps it wouldn't be too different from what she was used to. Laughing uncomfortably, she looked down at her now nearly empty plate. "I feel bad, I still haven't met your older sister..." They lived so close and yet she'd never visited her. "But yeah, she might help me get an idea of what to expect."

"Donnae take it hard. Annie's usually a pretty busy lady wi' her kids an' work," Rory said, shrugging. "Mum can prolly help out, too." He looked at Mrs. Katan. "An' you. I bet you hae some interesting ideas w' can use, too."
