Rory's eyes widened a bit. "It's a bit early fae tha', yeah?" He moved, spreading his feet and knees so he could pull her over to rest against him, wrapping his arms around her. "I care a good deal about you, Lee. I think I could love you. I just donnae want t' label this feelin' too early." He was quiet a moment, sorting out thoughts and emotions. "I can see meself married t' you, can see us raisin' a family. Not now, but one day. I only known you a week, but it's enough t' know tha' your parents are gonna hae a hard time keepin' us apart." He tilted her chin up to see her eyes, stroking her cheek with his thumb. "If love feels like this, then, aye, I suppose I do love you."

As he first started to speak, Lee felt like the biggest fool for having asked anything. She knew it was too early, she should have kept quiet... But as he went on, her face slowly softened, her teary eyes looking up at him as he stroked her cheek. Reaching out for him, she pulled herself closer to his chest, letting the tears roll down her cheeks as she rested her head on his shoulder. Her trembling hands clung to his shirt, and she let herself cry without holding it back. "I'm staying, Rory. I'm staying. Even if she drags me away, I'll just come back." Her words came out in sobs, but she'd never been happier. He had been honest, and even if he wasn't sure, it was enough. She couldn't pull herself away, didn't want to, and continued to cry. "But, from now on, don't ever say those words until you absolutely mean them." She backed away and laughed at herself for a moment, a hand wiping at her cheek. "I'm sorry for asking. But I couldn't stay if you didn't feel anything..."

"La, girl, but donnae question me feelin's like tha'," Rory chuckled, wrapping his body around hers protectively. "Pretty sure if I didnae feel anythin', I wouldnae be tryin' so hard t' win you o'er. I made you dinner, carved you a pretty box, an' got thrown off a horse. If tha's not love, it's damn near close." He leaned down to kiss the top of her head. "Lee, she cannae take you if you ain't wantin' t' gae. As I said, you're an adult here, same as me. You hae a right t' tell her no. Ain't th' first time we've had young outsiders join us against their parents' disapproval." He wiped at her cheeks gently with a calloused thumb, trying to rub the tears away. "If all else fails, well . . . we can just get married sooner'n I planned on it."

Laughing into his chest, she looked back up and shook her head. "You didn't have to do any of that, ya know. I would've liked you anyway..." She was almost positive she loved him, and even though she wanted to say it, she couldn't yet. Almost positive wasn't good enough. Thinking for a moment, she kept her face buried in his shoulder as she spoke. "I dun think you want to meet my mom. When she comes, maybe you shouldn't be around. She's not like my dad..." Not only was she thinking about Rory's best interest, but the only real leverage she had over her mother was Lauss, and she couldn't talk about him with Rory around to hear it. As Rory wiped at her tears, she smiled apologetically. "I cry too much around you..." At his marriage comment, she had to keep herself from hitting his chest, and had to settle with glaring up at him playfully with now rather puffy eyes.

"Cry all you want, love. It's good tha' you can be real around me," Rory chuckled. "As fae your mum, well . . . you're thinkin' I donnae want t' meet her is exactly why I should. She needs t' see your life here an' I'm a part o' tha' life. You shouldnae be ashamed o' me an' donnae let her make you feel like you should be."

She looked up at him, a slightly hurt expression on her face. "I'm not ashamed of you. She's just... mean." Sighing lightly, she bit her lip before speaking again. "If you wanna meet her, just know... it won't end nice." She shook her head, imagining what she might say. "Ugh, you're gonna hate her."

Letting herself fall back against the bed, Lee covered her face with her hands and made a strange combination of a groan and a whimper. "I didn't think about that..." Her mother already knew about Rory, then, which meant she'd waste no time in coming over for a "visit". Then again, that saved Lee the trouble of explaining everything to the woman herself, which was, in a way, a plus. She was dreading tomorrow morning, now. Laying her arms by her sides, Lee looked back at Rory. "Do you wake up early?" That likely sounded much more out of the blue than it was.

Sitting up, she smiled at him, slightly amused. "You dun have to do that... I just might need help waking up early enough to look okay." That was, if she'd even be able to sleep tonight...

Rory thought a moment, eyes half-closed, then looked at her a slow grin forming. "I could stay o'er an' make brekkie fae you an' your mum. Nae playin' about, I promise. I'll just sleep beside you. I got th' day off t'morrow, so it wonnae be a rush fae me t' get t' work." He reached up and got the teddy bear down from the shelf. "We'll take ol' Murphy along as a chaperon."

Lee looked him over, making sure he wasn't just kidding around. Scratching the back of her head, she gave him a questioning look. "You'll keep your hands to yourself, yeah?" She smiled and giggle a little, only kidding. Well, for the most part. "If you wanna, sure." While Murphy might not be able to keep a watchful eye on the pair, Lauss could.

"A chance t' spend th' night wi' me girl in me arms? Why would I pass tha' up?" Rory laughed, moving to get off the bed. "Let me get an o'ernight bag packed up. You can pick out a few o' me shirts t' take along, too. Figure you might wanna use them for nightdresses."

Lee beamed back at him, positive that he couldn't get any sweeter than he'd just been. Following him off the bed, Lee knelt by the drawer that held his clothes, smirking at him. "You like the way I look in your shirts, eh?" She blushed a bit, biting her lip as she looked back down into the drawer and searched through it.
