She stopped dead and her eyes lit up like it was Christmas morning. Turning a slow circle she took in the massive amount of roses, the colors, the smells, and the feel. Nastara always felt better when she was around roses of any type, almost like she drew energy from them just as she could give them energy.

He stood a little away from her, not wanting to break into her thoughts and feelings; she seemed totally in awe and at ease. He was definitely surprised that she had never been to the gardens before. After a few moments, when her awe seemed to very slightly wear down, Asher came next to her and kissed her on the cheek. "Still not as beautiful as you, but beautiful nonetheless."

Oddly enough, Nastara didn't blush or speak. She simply turned to look at Asher. Her eyes seemed to be shining like gems as she met his gaze and lost herself in his stunning eyes. A soft smile spread over her face as she leaned forward slowly and gave Asher a tender sweet kiss.

Taken slightly aback by her boldness, he kissed back. His emotions were gushing once again, and he knew that even if he wanted to speak he wouldn't be able to. Her eyes were simply too enrapturing, her smile too sweet, and her kiss too amazing. He pushed all of his thoughts aside and reveled in the kiss.

Reluctantly she pulled away, breaking the kiss. She had to blink a few times to surface and come back to reality. This was the best surprise anyone had ever given her. She felt weak kneed with how sweet Asher had been. This was easily the best moment of her life!

After she gently broke off the kiss, Asher opened his eyes and simply gazed at her, not feeling like moving or turning away. It took him a bit to speak, at which point he only managed to stumble out a simple, "H...hi..." before blushing.

She couldn't help it, her heart melted. She was on cloud nine, Asher was so unbelievably adorable, and my some miracle he cared about her. He was such a contradiction- so suave and gentlemanly, yet at the same time he'd stutter and blush. "Asher you are adorable, amazing, and I can't believe someone like you would care for me"

He blushed a bit deeper at the compliments before his eyes widened. "Someone like me like you? How could anyone not like you? I'm the lucky one. You're beautiful, kind and sweet, fun, thoughtful, caring... Oh, and on a side note of the thoughtfulness thing, Tristan sort of huffed when I showed him it, but when I was next in the kitchen well over half of his food was gone. So I think he appreciated the gesture..." He gave her another quick kiss on the cheek.

Now she blushed. "Glad I could help....." Flashing a quick smile at him she moved closer to the roses, inhaling their sweet scent and reading the plaques again. All throughout it Nastara was chattering to Asher with strange facts about roses.
" I bet you know that when a rose is given to a woman, that the color and number often have meaning. But do you know where that started? Its a leftover from the Victorian Age's "Language of Flowers". This language included not only the flower and color, but also weather the bouquet or flower was given right-side up, and even the hand that was used to give it. Sadly much of the nuances have been lost to time, but some things are known. According to this language a single red rose given right side up, right handed, stood for a man declaring his love. The woman would reply in kind. A white rose was her saying she felt she was too young for a relationship. A single leaf of a rose meant that she wasn’t interested at all. Giving a yellow rose in return was a way of scorning the gentleman’s offer. The return of a single red rose was a profession and acceptance of his love.
And the rose wasn't just used as a symbol of love either. Ancient Romans used to hang a wild rose on the door where a secret meeting was held. Its from this practice that we get the phrase "sub-rosa".
Oh! and if it wasn't for roses America might not have been discovered! In 1942 when Columbus and his men despaired of ever finding land, a rose branch was seen floating in the water. This told them that land had to be near and gave them the hope to go on.

His eyes sparkled as he took in that knoweldge... he knew he would have to research that up a bit more and use it on her someday. He was tempted to get a red rose now, but he figured it would be too soon to his hearing about this to be very meaningful or surprising. "I knew about the different meanings of colors, but I had absolutely no clue of the rest of the things! Where do you learn about stuff such as this?" He had been staying a step or two behind her and she went around to all the roses, but he came up next to her when he responded.

She gave a small shrug. "Here and there. Sometimes there are little fact sheets or anticdotes in my gardening books, other stuff I find online. Emerald did a paper on roses awhile ago, I helped her with research for that." She leaned in to smell a red bloom the size of a dinner plate. "Oohh! Smell this one Asher, its a wild rose!" She shifted slightly so he could reach it." You know, that is one thing I have never really understood. Commercial growers often breed the scent out of their roses. They are more concerned with a long straight stem, a large bloom, the right color, ect. I think its just crazy, the flowers are loved for their beauty yes, but the smell is what is so alluring. And to solve the problem of those who want their roses to smell like roses, florist shops sell small vials of rose scent to put on the flowers! Its nutty!"

He smiled and nodded as she chatted, adoring the sound of her voice. He gasped slightly when he inhaled the rose shehad pointed out. "Really? But... the scent you can get even if you can't see the flower. I would think that would be more important..." He shrugged. "Society doesn't always make much sense anymore."

She nodded in agreement and indicated the rose. "This is one of the first species of roses found here in America. It's always had a powerful sweet scent. Even though its not shaped like the traditional rose bloom..." Here she points out that it is a large round flower, more plate like than bud like, " I still love this breed for the scent."

Asher said, "Ah... are there any other roses shaped like that? Or is this a flower named something that it really isn't? Like calla lilies?"

"OH, there are other roses shaped like this, you see classifying roses is very tricky. And they keep coming up with new classifications based on bloom type or all sorts of criterion." Nastara continued to ramble on, explaining some differences between Tea roses, Hybrid Tea roses, that the classification of "Wild Rose" was actually a misnomer, ect. She really didn't expect Asher to listen and catch all of it, she was just enjoying her time with him.
