Ky Die Verrater

PostPosted: Wed Oct 28, 2009 5:19 am

The door to the court slowly crept open as a figure emerged from the outside, shrouded in the dim light that illuminated the corridor which led to this place. Nothing really changed in Las Noches as every room had the same setting like it was a must in modern arrancar chic for rooms to be cold, damp, dark and quiet. Ky couldn't care less about it though because he had more important things to do than criticize the arrancars' interior designer, whoever that unskilled and sadly uninspired person was.

With a sigh, he opened his mouth. "Still up to the usual things?" Ky spoke loudly, allowing his voice to echo in order to break the silence of the room. It seemed as if he was talking to nobody but the shadows that largely veiled the court in its darkness, but Ky knew sooner or later that somebody would pop in from out of nowhere and respond to his question. Such were things in the world whether he liked it or not, so why not make the best of it? Adaptation was, as all people would agree, one of man's greatest skills which allowed him to survive for so long in a hostile world or at least cope with the things he finds annoying.

"Still skulking around Las Noches?" Jes appeared after some length of time, though she didn't answer Ky's call immediately. If he thought he could summon the Espada at his leisure, he was sorely mistaken. Taking her time, she finally emerged from one of the dark corridors that pockmarked the volcanic rock. She'd felt his presence the minute he had crossed the Court's threshold. Considering recent events, the feel of a Bount was almost commonplace, now. Generally, she would have sent any number of her Court arrancar to chase out the intruder, but she supposed Ky warranted some sort of meeting, even if she couldn't stand the man.

Jes's face was set impassively as she crossed the main hall, reflection cast darkly in the volcanic glass at her feet. She betrayed no emotion except a certain tightening of the mouth that might have suggested irritation. Sizing him up as she approached, it was odd how closely their features coincided-- red eyes, white hair-- but their nature could not have been more different. Ky was dressed flamboyantly, and, if reports were accurate, had an ego to match. He reminded her a rooster, strutting and cocky.

"You really must stop scavenging Las Noches's scraps, Ky," She continued, affecting a conversational tone, though her eyes were hard. She certainly did not approve of the Bounts' constant presence and interference in Las Noches. So far as she was concerned, they were no better than carrion, picking at a greater predator's leavings. "Though the Bounts seem to be growing fat from our leftovers... So what is it you want? You'll have better luck with handouts at a mortal soup kitchen, which is where you belong, you know,"

[It's not that I actually dislike you, Ky! (we've never really met, anyway) But it's just the character. Don't take offense! ><']

Hagane stood motionless a few feet behind her. His face was phlegmatic making him seem like a normal fraccion, which of course was his intention. If he was to be underestimated it would allow him to finish off any threat that Jes may have from this new appearance. Thought he wasn't about to underestimate his opponent, if Jes was making witty comments and addressing him directly he must of been someone of some importance. Considering she mentioned bounts he assumed that this newcomer was the leader of them. Hagane then proceeded to memorize and categorize this mans reiatsu signature, emotions at the time, and assign it a color so that he would be able sense this man at all times.

His hands rested behind his back, his right grasping his left wrist giving him the appearance of a seasoned body guard, but nothing more. He stood tall and firm having a loose but still perfect posture, showing that he was disciplined and not tense or nervous when in the presence of strong and powerful beings.

((Ah, we'll get along fine then, Jes. I'm the same way as well, so don't be offended. It's all RP anyway.))

Ky simply smirked at the arrancar's comments, amused at just how ordered they were compared to the simplistic and often childish insults he would often receive from those of her same race. To think that a day would come when an arrancar finally came around and actually amused him with her insults so soon surprised even Ky himself. He just had to reply with something witty as well.

"Took you a long time to get here, Espada. Did it actually take you that long to think up of something to say to me without making yourself look stupid?" asked Ky with a short chuckle near the end of his sentence. He didn't expect any reaction to it though since he noticed that the arrancar in front of him was strangely indifferent like a statue, showing neither a clear expression of disdain nor appreciation on her face.

Her tone of voice, too, was also a notable trait and one of the first things Ky noticed about her. She spoke as if she was speaking to some random person whom she had just met before, though such was the current case and was therefore understandable. This was the first time she had faced him and he with her. Ky had only heard about Jes from his reports, but he had never once laid eyes on the co-leader of Las Noches until now. "Speaking of which," said Ky in a sarcastic tone, "I am happy that you came to see me personally and I also appreciate your...warm...greeting as well. Now I know where Las Noches gets its...liveliness. You're just a barrel of laughs aren't you?"

Ky didn't stop there, however. He still had something to say after all that. Besides, he still had to address her comment about the Bounts and consequently himself. It's not like he was insulted, though Ky wanted to say something immediately after hearing that.

"Well, that's why we are Ravens, after all. We're just waiting for you to die and then take everything you have. All for natural resources, essential in building an empire. Unless, of course, you plan on just making it easier on yourselves...," said Ky openly and looked straight into her eyes which signified that he really meant everything he said. He smiled afterward and planned on continuing, but he decided not to in order to allow what he said to sink in to the arrancar's head.

Even with the insults, he only expected the same indifferent reaction from the expressionless arrancar which only made Ky happier since he could insult her no matter how much he wanted and she would still be as calm as ever. On the other hand, if she were to get pissed off, he would also become happy. Either way, Ky would get what he want.

Seeing the Espada's loss for words, Ky smirked, content with himself for what he had done and started to make his way towards Jes. "Don't worry, I'm not here to start a war if that's what you're thinking, little miss stone-face," he whispered into the silent arrancar's waiting ear before he playfully ran his left index finger on her shoulder being careful not to allow Jes to secretly place one of her shadows on him.

As a person of his status, Ky naturally prided himself on always thinking several steps ahead of an opponent and always assumed the worst and that the opponent he was facing always had a secret trick, as was mostly the case with the people he dealt with. Due to this, he was slightly paranoid most of the time, though it's this paranoia had proved itself invaluable especially with him willingly subjecting himself to numerous risks on a daily basis just so he could get an advantage. It's how a ture businessman should be and it's how he got to the top in the first place, but more importantly, it's how he stays there even after being tried and tested time and time again.

While he walked, he turned his attention towards the other arrancar behind Jes. Ky simply looked at him and observed the way he looked back, all with a mockingly calm smile as if he was openly letting the arrancar know just how inferior Ky thought he was through that smile. In truth, Ky didn't belittle him in anyway whatsoever and thought of him as formidable. Only a fool would underestimate an opponent, but Ky just wanted to piss him off because from his confident stance and how he stood near the Espada, Ky supposed that the male arrancar was Jes' lover, or at least her bodyguard.

Why he did this was something only Ky would appreciate. In his mind, it would be funny to see the man's supposedly stoic nature break into a maddened state when he saw how much he was being belittled even though Ky knew how far the arrancar would go just so their opponent wouldn't have the satisfaction of seeing them in such a state. However, things didn't always turn out that way and it's those little surprises that would always leave Ky wanting for more.

Jes hardly batted an eyelid at Ky's proximity. She knew he was just testing the limits of her tolerance, but he still had quite a ways to go before he elicited any sort of reaction from her. Considering the way in which Ky's eyes flicked briefly towards Hagane, standing silently at her back, Jes assumed the touch was not for her benefit alone. All the same, she knew Hagane better than Ky thought he did. He'd been her fraccion long enough that she trusted his demeanor to be as cool as her own.

The more incorrect assumptions Ky drew, the more Jes would gain the upper hand. If he somehow discerned Jes and Hagane's relationship, he was mistaken as to the terms. And if he assumed that Hagane was merely Jes's fraccion, he would, similarly, be incorrect. Even if he had ascertained these details, they were minor pieces of information when compared to all the cards Jes held in her hand. She played them quite close to her chest, never letting any enemy-- or any ally-- see the full hand. It was to her advantage to keep both opponents and would-be rivals guessing. It was partially the reason no one knew the full extent of her powers or had ever seen her in any sort of release, though, she imagined if Ky was looking for a fight, she might have to expend a bit more power than the usual duel.

"I wouldn't think a common crow would start a war-- they only feed on the aftermath," Jes said evenly. "So what trash have you come scavenging today, Crow? You've certainly picked over Feiy's carcass, but you'll find I am not nearly so accommodating,"

Ky immediately turned his attention back at Jes, his eyes twinkling with glee since he finally heard the Espada's voice once more. He seriously thought that he had her stumped and was worried that he was wrong about her and had overestimated her abilities, but he was wrong and was happy for it. From Ky's point of view, it seemed as though he found a new playmate since his last one died, the stupid woman. It was hard to find someone who could take the same amount of playful insults and light-hearted ridicule as much as Feiy did before, but now he found someone. Yes, she was different from Feiy, but that made her all the more interesting in Ky's eyes.

"Oh, your flattery is killing me, Espada. Really, it's to die for. Do not worry your little hollow derriere though, my dear, I'm just hear to bring you a message. Call it a prelude if you will, though whether or not I tell it to you will be up to you," said Ky with a sly grin etched on his face as if he was hiding something.

"If you wish to know, just tell me. If not, then I shall be on my way. Either way is fine, though if you choose the latter, then I shall enjoy myself watching you and your race."

"Amuse me, if you must," Jes said flatly, betraying none of her sudden interest in Ky's visit or the news he brought. Although she was confident she knew all the important details of the Bount's shortcomings from her informant, Powchii, there was always the distinct possibility that he had missed something vital-- something that Ky had been playing as close to the chest as Jes herself played her own cards. It was also worth considering Powchii's loyalty. While it was true that Jes had repaired his failing body and invested him with a good deal of power, she was not one to trust so easily. Verifying information was important if she was to always have the upper hand in any given situation. Then there was always the suspicion that Ky would be lying in order to amuse himself and see Las Noches scramble to compensate for whatever false information he was feeding.

In any case, it would be useful to know whatever piece of information Ky was dangling in front of her, though she would not give him the satisfaction of knowing she was interested. Ky seemed like the boastful type. Jes guessed that he was practically jumping out of his skin to tell her whatever he'd come to say, and she would not deny him his little pleasures in the event that they truly impacted her.

"Far be it from me to deny you your pleasures," She continued dryly, gesturing for Ky to continue if he wished.

Kenji's head queen steps out of her Sonido and bows to Jes-Sama right away before saying, "Excuse me Jes-Sama, my master has sent me to warn you that we are under attack. A group of intruders have been located within the outter walls of the palace. He figured if you didn't know about it already that you would want to know right away so he sent me to inform you. He is heading to the location now to stop them. Do you have any orders for me to pass along to him?" The queen stays bowed until told to recover by Jes.

"Far be it from me to deny you your pleasures," She continued dryly, gesturing for Ky to continue if he wished.

"Do what you must though you've already given it to me with your response, little Jes," responded Ky with a smirk then crossed his arms, smiling even more than before because of Jes' expression. The indifferent look on the Espada's face was just too funny and Ky found it amusing for Jes to be able to hold it for so long. To Ky, Jes' actions were that of a child trying to hold in her emotions just so she could act all tough, though the opposite of which was true, but he didn't know Jes all that well to assume that out loud since the information he had on her was merely based on past data.

Sensing another foreign entity arrive inside the court and seeing her form bow down in front of Jes, Ky knew that Powchii was successful in causing a certain amount of trouble in the labyrinth as soon as she gave her report and remained silent. It was then Ky decided to throw in a piece of information that he had been holding since the entity had entered the room.Although unimportant if interpreted in a normal situation, it was just a simple quote. However, if understood in the same sense as the person who said it did, then it would make everything clear.

"Absolute power corrupts absolutely. As soon as you give them the chance to gain power, even your friends would betray you for it. A thing of supposedly great importance and value is in the hands of an inexperienced Bount, although lacking, is loyal, persistent, and skilled. I wonder how long he'll last with the power something similar to that in his hands?" asked Ky. "Can you resist temptation the temptation to grab more power for yourself? Can you put your faith in a race you barely trust or would you rather trust your own hands?"

Ky stopped for a moment for a little chuckle before he continued. He was slowly building up the momentum before he would get to the point of his visit there. He just wanted to, as Jes put it, "amuse her"."Of course, I do have the piece of information you've been waiting for, though, not wanting to make you bombard you with new information so soon, I'll wait until the information had sunken into your brains.

"You act as though I should be concerned," Jes said evenly, a bored tone coloring her voice. The smallest smile pulled at her lips. "Though perhaps it is you who have overestimated your own friends. Are you sure they have not betrayed you for the same power of which you speak?"

If she had interpreted Ky's cryptic message correctly, she could assume that the object of interest was the Hogyoku and that it was on the move. By Ky's description of the Bount who carried it, Jes concluded that the bearer was no other than Powchii himself. Ky was playing right into Jes's hands and he hadn't even realized it. The thought was almost enough to bring real emotion to Jes's face, but she held it back in the interest of the game she and Ky were still playing. It suited her to let him believe he had a slight upper hand, yet the minute he'd placed the Hogyoku in Powchii's care, he'd already lost.

She turned her attention briefly to Kenji's messenger, quickly assessing the situation and choosing the standard response, "Tell him to engage the intruders. Use lethal force as he sees fit. It's time we purged Las Noches of these interfering carrion. That's all," She finished, dismissing the woman in a clipped tone.

Jes turned her attention back to Ky, aware that she had ordered a direct attack on his forces without regard to his proximity. She wondered idly at his response. Anger didn't seem to suit the cocky Bount, but she was sure more petty insults were likely coming her way, yet they were quite easy to bear. He could tiptoe around the subjects of interest all he pleased, insult her as he would, but in the end, she had already deduced the majority of his intentions-- or rather, Powchii had informed her of them before Ky had even set foot in Court. There was very little Ky could say or do that would genuinely concern or even ruffle Jes, but she supposed it was sporting to let him try.

"Although it may amuse you to drop cryptic hints and threats, I have no time for games or puzzles. It leads me to believe your wit compensates for lack of action. So tell me, Crow-- have you a point to make, or are you wasting my time?"
PostPosted: Fri Nov 06, 2009 4:34 am

Ky pouted, though it was clear that he was just playing and didn't really mean it and did it in the spirit of light-hearted fun. "Of course you should, you're a leader, aren't you? A Bount walking around, packing that kind of hardware may prove to be...detrimental...to Las Noches' development, if you catch my drift or is it that you're waiting until it becomes too big to handle?" said Ky, immediately putting Jes on the spot, though the question was more rhetorical than anything.

The Bount leader was about to continue to address Jes' second reply when he saw the Espada's lips raise slightly and slant into something more of a smile. Although small, it was a reaction that Ky had been waiting for the entire time he was there. Finally, the once inexpressive look the Espada had had shown something else other than an expression of indifference she had brandished all this time as she was talking to him. Because of that, he just had to say something about it. "Oh, I see a little smile there, Jes. Does that mean that I am amusing you? Well if it is, then I am happy that I am fulfilling my role. I do try my best to please my clients." With that finally out of his chest, Ky then addressed Jes' second reply.

"Friends? Oh no, don't mistake a working relationship with friendship. I do trust them with my life since they are skilled, but that is all. Tell me, do you consider dispensable furniture as friends? In the end, if they stop working properly, they get replaced with new ones. In the same manner, as long as they remain useful, they shall have a place in the Organization. If not, then they are replaced. As simple as that."

Ky's response was carried out in a slightly more formal tone of voice, one that emanated a feeling of sincerity and seriousness unlike his other responses which were more sarcastic and playful. "I make it a fact not to trust anyone too much, Jes. It's something that has helped me get to where I am now and stay there. I thank you for your "concern", though leave it for someone who is in need of it. I had my fair share of deception, what's another one to me? But yes, I do see your point. Let's cut the foreplay and proceed with the best part, shall we? You must be yearning for the thing I have ever since we first. Before we move on to that though, allow me this pleasure first."

Placing his hand inside a small pouch that was big enough to carry three baseball-sized objects, Ky pulled his hand out shortly after to reveal none other than the hogyouku itself. How did that happen? Ky gave the supposed hogyouku to Powchii before he left and there were many witnesses, including Powchii himself, to account for it. How can two hogyouku exist at once? Anyone other than Ky would wonder though the explanation was actually very simple as Ky would soon explain, although he needed to do one small thing first before he started to explain yet again.

Placing the hogyouku on the ground before him as he knelt down on one knee, Ky placed his palm on the floor and used alchemy to transmutate a small section of the floor into a marble pedestal with a slight circular depression at the top that sunk to the center which rose to half the height of Jes without allowing the hogyouku to fall of the edge. Using alchemy once more, the marble pedestal seemed to glide across the floor and stopped just in front of Jes.

Standing up from his kneeling position, Ky once again resumed his dignified stance and spoke to Jes once more. "As promised, I return the hogyouku back into your possession. I wanted to return it personally as a sign of just how grateful I am to you and Las Noches for allowing me to expand my research into the creation of hollows. Now, if you would allow me your audience for the last time, I shall get to the point of my visit here. So, do I have your full attention, my dear?"

"You underestimate my control, I believe," Jes said, casually plucking the Hogyoku from the marble pedestal that now marred the dark obsidian of the court floor. She didn't deign the gaudy display of alchemic mastery with a reaction. It was probably just another flashy show designed to poke at her reserve. Instead, she held the small orb up to the blue lights that illuminated her court, inspecting it with a jaundiced eye. Apparently satisfied, she tucked it into one sleeve of her red kimono top.

Idly, she traced the small divot in the marble column idly, then spread her long fingers over the marble, pale skin nearly matching the shades of the white marble. Shadows crawled along the floor and twined up the marble column, staining it with veins of slithering darkness. The shadowy tendrils wormed their way into minute cracks in the marble and expanded, viciously tearing into the column. It exploded in a shower of marble shards that shot in all directions. Several fragments bounced off of Jes's hierro-enforced skin, though she didn't react. Her eyes were on Ky's as she dusted her hands off. Ky was not the only one who could put on a show.

"You have my attention for the time being," Jes responded in a flat tone. Which card, she wondered, would Ky play, now? Although she was curious as to the existence of two Hogyokus, she suspected one to be some sort of smoke-and-mirrors illusion. Perhaps the one now tucked safely in her sleeve was the fake. It could even contain a harmful substance or some sort of nasty trap. Jes would not put it past Ky to rig up some juvenile prank to rankle her. Still, it would take more than a booby trap to harm her, so we wasn't unduly concerned. Either way, both fake and real Hogyoku were likely in her possession, and that was her main concern. At any rate, she continued, "Though I suspect if you do not make a point soon, you will have lost it,"

Ky eyed the female arrancar as she used a sonido to leave the room and return to her duties of attending to his little distraction in the labyrinth. Ky didn't expect no less from the people whom he had trained with though, they were strong and they were reliable. Besides, the mission he gave them served another purpose. Not only was it meant to provide a distraction to allow Ky an easier access to Jes minus the hustle and bustle of unwanted interference if he planned on directly going there, the mission would also serve as training for all of them in order to force them to develop their skills and teamwork in actual combat.

The plan itself seemed to be a cruel move by the Bount leader, though it was a decision he found the most logical that would benefit the most amount of people even if it meant that his own subordinates would see him as a condescending puppet master. Being looked upon like that by those below you was all part of being a leader and Ky was already accustomed to it. All that mattered that everyone was getting what they wanted and getting stronger because of it.

Turning back to Jes, he let out a small whistle. "Oh my, little Jes, if I must say you do have quite an interesting array of subordinates. If I didn't know better, I would assume that you were running a whore house, haha," laughed Ky. "Well, kidding aside, it seems as though you also know how to pique a man's interest, my pet," he whispered, referring to the little stunt Jes pulled off with the pedestal by using her shadows, "though since you seem rather impatient, then allow me to just say it outright. I want to drill a hole in the Throne Room to the middle of Las Noches and I want you to help me."

The request would most likely be a surprise and was something that nobody would expect would come from the Bount leader and his reputation of being the serious type most of the time. In Jes' point of view, the request would seem illogical and even absurd. However, Ky was serious when he said that. He wanted to drill to the center of Las Noches.

"During my last visit here, I have detected a tremendous amount of alchemical energy stored within this world's core. In my opinion, this energy is probably the result of the spillover of excess power when the hogyouku was used in the creation of you arrancar. I wasn't able to confirm this phenomenon until I made the Jagers using almost the same process as with the creation of arrancar."

Ky continued. "The data I have gathered corresponds with the data I have detected before, though on a much, much, smaller scale. If I could get to that power source, who knows what kind of things I can make with it? Of course, I would be happy to share some of the spoils with you, though this would only come if and only if you help me out. Think about it, you and Las Noches have nothing to lose and everything to gain from this deal. If not for Las Noches, then think about the possibilities of you gaining more power than you have now if this were to succeed."

The Bount leader spoke to Jes a little bit more after that, making sure to keep her interests at heart and emphasizing the gains she and Las Noches might garner if she were to agree to this merger with Ky. Being the businessman that he is, he made sure that every word that came out of his mouth was directed to Jes' interest just as a salesman would pitch a product. Hopefully Ky would be able to score a deal with Jes which would advance not only his own, but Las Noches' interests as well. He, too, had something to gain from this deal.
