Cassie turned away from Kai, "People don't deserve kisses because they had a pitiful history." she said. she couldn't believe this. "I deserve them least of all." she said with spite. her footsteps tapped down the hall. she sighed, *what am i doing?* she asked herself. *why do i do this?*

Cassie stopped, her back felt prickly at that word. *Love.* "Love? I don't believe in it." she turned around and faced him. "After all I've been through, why would I think such a thing existed? at least for me? My mother tried to kill me, and anyone i got close to either left me or tried to kill me. or they hurt me so bad that i killed them. Love forsakes me, I will not go chasing after a dream that cannot be a reality for me."

[every story has it's sad moments. some stories are just plain sad.]

Cassie shook her head. "You don't understand. I've been through this before, so many times i feel like my tape has been rewound and I'm watching the same thing over again. Why should this, if we were to hook up or whatever you want to call it, why should this work out when nothing else has?"

Cassie turned her heel. "I'm sorry, I don't have any dreams anymore, only nightmares, nightmares of the past." she turned again and started walking away.

Cassie felt tears leak out of her eyes. Why was he trying so hard? she wanted to believe him but the doubts lurked behind her and covered her eyes. Cassie's knees buckled and she fell to the floor. she sat back on her feet and buried her face in her hands. *Why am I crying?*

Kai crouched down and rubbed Cassies back "It's ok Cassie, just forget about what happened back then, don't let it haunt you! Whatever happened happened! No use crying over something you can't change!" He shed a few tears and hugged Cassie "Don't be afraid to cry."

Cassie tried to look around but everything was blurry from the tears. she wanted to break something, rip something to shreds, but there wasn't anything around her, except for Kai. her hands went up slowly but pounded down on her legs in tight fists. her nails dug into her palms and the tears kept coming.

Cassie tore away. she stumbled to her feet but her legs had fallen asleep and she fell back down to the floor.
