When no one was looking, he absorbed his armor into himself, leaving him plainly dressed in a black button down shirt and black slacks. He still wore, however, his cloak. He'd take that off if he needed to but rather he didn't. His wings were not a source of pride and he did not like discussing why they were like that.
Auren politely sat down at the table and thought. He didn't need to eat, and he wasn't exactly hungry either but he would be polite and nibble on things.
He also prepared himself for the questions.

Oriana looked up to notice Auren sitting just across the table from her, then found her plate of food to be incredibly interesting and decided to examine that. Hali quickly picked up on her sister's nervousness, but waited for her parents to begin the interrogation. Damir set his fork down and wiped his mouth, "So, you two went to town today..."

Auren nodded lightly "We did. Oriana mostly went on a shopping spree. I added in some tasteful advice here and there but that is about it. It wasn't anything particularly noteworthy." he told the group while picking at a side-dish.
He probably thought he was being rude by taking such small portions but he didn't think it would matter.

Damir sighed and finished his fish, then looked over at his wife. She was a light eater, but she hardly had anything on her plate, and fish was her favorite... Vienna looked around nervously, but continued to attempt to show interest in her food. she set her utensils down and stood up, "I'm afraid I'm not feeling well..." Damir stood up quick looking quite worried about his wife. She turned to him and smiled, then excused herself from the table. Damir sat back down and had somewhat of a slump to his posture. Hali groaned and shifted uncomfortably in her chair. she looked at her father who was now poking his fork at his vegetables, and re arranging them on his plate, while Oriana quietly ate her food.

Auren sighed and grumbled inwardly.
Getting up gently, he shook his head. "Please excuse me, I believe my company has ruined the dinner service."
He ducked out of the kitchen, his armor sliding across him like liquid and encasing him. Going outside for fresh air, he took a deep breath and drew both swords and started drilling to clear his mind.
The first drill was a hundred strokes in rapid succession, the swords a brightly lit glow. The second drill was chaining together attacks.
The hoarfrost ground was turned muddy with his drills, the snow blown away in his efforts, creating a circle around him and scattering snow to lightly fall down in the cool night air.
His breath was quite apparent as he breathed with effort. His wings glowed again and seemed real again. adjusting his cloak to fit them. He continued the drill, his breath was measured.
Chaining attacks together against an invincible foe, the ferocity in his combat style was very apparent.
Finishing the chain off, he stood in the mud and snow silently. Clearly in deep thought.

Oriana stood up, but Hali skipped out the door and followed Auren out; from a distance. She watched him drill and pet Hans, then Bridget, then Vadim, and finally just sat and cleaned her nails waiting for him to finish with whatever it is he was trying to do. Snow removal maybe? Oriana placed her fork on the side of her plate and looked over at Damir, "Papa, Is everything alright with you and mom?" He nodded, and finished the face he made out of his vegetables, "I'll clear the table, Why don't you go upstairs and read, or whatever it is you do." Damir rose from the table and began placing left over foods in containers and freezing them. Oriana smiled and took the plates to the sink and began washing, "I'm not going to leave you down here alone to think of the worst, papa..." He smiled and kissed her forehead, "I love you Oriana."

Auren noticed Oriana watch him but did not say anything. If she wanted to say something, he'd respond. He stood there, in thought before sheathing his swords after she went inside.
Feeling much better about himself, he spun on his heel and started walking back inside.

Just as he stepped past Vadim's pen something tripped him and he stumbled forward. Hali giggled, "For a Guard you sure don't know when people sneak up on you... Shouldn't you be better at that?"

Auren's wings flared white and bright as he stumbled, his other hand going for his sword while he caught himself in a crouch.
Seeing who it was, he smirked at Hali, looking at her directly in the eye. "If you were a threat, I would've bothered to have done something. But you're not so its a moot point."
'''Sides, I can hear your heart beat from inside the house. You can't exactly sneak up on me." he said as he dusted himself off. "But that's hardly beside the point. I got the feeling you have questions for me?" he asked her.

"What Do you think of my sister?" She asked, "I've been sending her men for years now, and none of them have passed her front doorstep... Is posing as a bodyguard like the easiest way into a woman's heart?" she mumbled and paced around the room thinking as to why her sister was so cold toward the opposite sex.

Auren stood up, relaxed. His wings faded away, and for a split second they were the dead things that they really were. Adjusting his cloak unconsciously, they were hidden from sight.
The Huscarl then leaned against a pillar. "To be honest? I am not sure what I think. She is definitely beautiful and intelligent. Most men wouldn't find such women attractive. They'd rather they were... ignorant, unintelligent. Whatever you wanna call it so they have control." He had a thoughtful look. "What I think of her... I think I have a small attraction to her. Nothing TOO earth shattering and nothing that I wouldn't place before my duty as her protector."
He shrugged. "Hell if I know. I haven't felt emotions in hundreds of years that I am feeling now."

Hali smiled softly, that makes most men melt, "Then why don't you show her. You're a fool if you haven't figured out that she's attracted to you." she walked passed him and into the house where she splashed her daddy with water and started a mini water fight between the two. Oriana stood out of the way and laughed. she was happy to see her younger sister interacting with her parents, particularly her father. She froze the water in mid air and made it glide over to the sink where she let it plop into the warm soapy dish water and melt, "Hali, Why don't you check up on mom... you're better at talking to her then I am." Hali nodded and skipped up the stairs calling her mothers name, whipping out her nail file.

"Ah but is it my place to, Hali?" he asked her. "I am but a mere rogue-for-hire." he said with an exaggerated flourish and bow.
Still staying in place, he mused on himself and a possible future where he had settled down.
"Of course, I couldn't settle down with some Usara girl. Nuh, had to accept the Invitation, didn't I? Stupid Einherjar. S'what you get." he berated himself.
On the other hand, being with a queen had its downsides. Namely, public opiniions and it wasn't his idea of settling down either but he could deal.

"Invitation to what?" Oriana asked out of curiosity. She had only been leaning in the door frame for a little while, but long enough to hear.

Auren looked at her. "Invitation? Oh. Before I was a monster, I was something called a Huscarl. Huscarl were my people's protectors and guardians. The very best of the Latera would volunteer to get turned into a combat monster and defender. Thankfully, we, as far as I know, never had to be used in a war."
He turned to face her, looking her over thoughtfully.
