Ebony stepped through the portal of gate town. he had heard rumors that his old friend Jabez had become the new leader of Enthelda. Ebony hadnt seen him since they were in the war together. he had tried to stay in touch with him, but he disappeared. well now he knew what Jabez had been up too. Ebony had rented a horse to rid his way to the main city. the road was beautiful lush and green, but he could see in the dawn light a large group of people by the fountain stone looking at a person on it. maybe they need help? Ebony thought. he pulled his mount up to the crowd and asked what was going on. a young girl pointed to the woman chained to the enormous stone. "I dont know what she's doing up there, but she looks beat up." the girl said. Ebony stepped down from his mount and pushed his way through the crowd. he was to the water's pool edge and ushered the others to step back. he made a path through the crowd, or you could call it a run way. Ebony then ran towards the pool and smokey black wings erupted from his back and he leaped and flew over the water. he landed gracefully at the top of the stone next to the woman. "do you want some help?" he asked her.

she struggled to tilt her head back, her weary red eyes looked up at him, and a slight smile curved her lips, "That... would be nice..." she said in her raspy voice, "I've been up here for almost a whole day now... and i need water." her head fell back to it's original state and she closed her eyes once more, "I'm so... tired... so very....very tired." she whispered, though barely audible due to her sore throat.

Ebony made a snorting snotty sound and spit this sticky black sludge onto the chains, but being sure to not get any on her. the sludge hissed its way though the chains at a disturbing speed. Ebony cradled the girl in his arms and let the chains slip into the water. he then gently lowered to the waters edge resting her on the soft grass.

Achlys touched the surface of the water with her hand and smiled, "Thank you for helping me..." she whispered as her form turned to water and swirled into the lake.

Ebony looked absurdly at the glistening pool, as he tried to find reason to what had happened. the crowd gasped and chattered loudly, but the left quickly after finding no answers to their confusion. Ebony jumped on his mount and continued is way to Jabez, maybe he would have answers, probably not.
once Ebony entered the city, it was not hard to find Jabez. he simply needed to look for a giant black smokey man amongst the white city.
Jabez looked surprised and yet disappointed when he saw Ebony trotting his way through the street towards him. "how in the heavens did he manage to follow me?" he asked him self.
When Ebony got closer he shouted Jabez's name trying to get his attention. Jabez turned away and started to quickly make his way back to the castle, hoping he would loose him. Jabez swiftly tuned a corner and Ebony walked right past shouting his name. Jabez sighed with relief, he was out of his hair for a bit longer. but it was not long at all. just as Jabez stepped out into the street again Ebony appeared in front of him in a burst of smoke and fog.
"Jabez!" Ebony pronounced, and threw his arms around him. Jabez looked stiff and uncomfortable,
"Ebony." he said unenthusiastically. and sighed pitying himself.
"Hey, I almost lost u back there, its like you were avoiding me." Ebony laughed and slapped Jabez on the shoulder. "oh! i have a crazy story to tell you!"
but Jabez looked uninterested.
"okay so listed to this!" Ebony had his way of not noticing Jabez's obvious annoyance with him. "So this hot babe was stranded and chained on one of the fountain stones and a crowd had gathered to watch her like an animal! so i figured i could get a date if i saved her from her certain death. but just as i get done saving her, she turns into water!" he thew his arms up, (he is the sort of person who talks with their hands). "can u believe that?"
Jabez nodded, "That is hard to believe. You being heroic? that is strange."
Ebony groaned with frustration "No Jabez! you have to believe me, she turned into water! i didn't even get a kiss!" Ebony looked rather distressed and Jabez didn't need him flailing about much more.
Jabez rested his hand on his shoulder, "Look, will you feel better if you take me their and then explain what happened?"
Ebony gave him a childish look and nodded.
they arrived at the pool on horseback. the mist shrouded the scenery giving it a blue hazy look. Ebony stepped up to the water and pointed at the stone.
"she was chained to the top, and i spit acid on them to brake them. then they slipped into the water and so did she!" Ebony still sounded rather excited about the experience. Jabez pondered about a way to answer his question.
"I dont know what to tell you Ebony, maybe she was a water sprite. Unlike back home, the sprites here are really friendly." Jabez said smoothly
Ebony looked intrigued, "Just how friendly are they?" he asked with a perverse smile. Jabez gave him a disapproving look. "Don't even think about it."

the bluish swirling mist turned a dark purplish black and the water began making circular waves from the center, out to the edge. drop by drop a ball of water formed above the lake and took the shape of a female form. the form became solid and Achlys stood in it's place, "Returning already are you... Did you forget something?" she asked as she hovered just above the water, "Or am i not allowed to live here either?"

Jabez and Ebony stood in awe. she was truly beautiful. Ebony looked weak at the knees. and turned back to Jabez with a surprised look. "See! I told you!."
Jabez ignored him and stepped up to the aqua maiden. "I am Jabez," he said to her politely and bowed slightly. "If you dont mind me asking, what are you doing in this pool, is it your home?" he sounded calm and patient.
Ebony simply gawked at her appearance.

She giggled, "No, but i would like it to be... though i can understand you not wanting me here..." she grumbled as she crossed her arms, "I was exiled by Queen Hali of Aquious, because i wouldn't willingly give up my husband to her bidding..." she frowned and shuttered uncomfortably, "It didn't hurt me so much that he wanted to leave me... because i knew he wasn't faithful... What irritated me is that she waltzes into my home to take my husband and when she didn't get what she wanted she banished me..."

Both of them gave her a sympathetic look. "You poor thing." Ebony finally said.
"don't worry," Jabez said urgently "You are welcome to stay in the spring as long as you take care of your self and the pool." Jabez felt bad for her, that she had to travel to Enthelda just to find a home.
Ebony was scratching his head and looking at the stone curiously. "I was wondering, why were you chained to the stone?"

"I was chained there by Hali's men..." she sighed as she lowered her wings, "They must have knocked me out, because there's no way i would go willingly..."
She looked up at the two and smiled, "But thank you for your hospitality... I'll be sure that this spring produces the cleanest water in all of Enthelda." she vowed as she walked to the water's edge, "So... Who are you two?"

Jabez smiled to himself "I am the king of Enthelda, and this is Ebony." he gestured to his acquaintance.
Ebony nodded and said, "Yeah, we are old war buddies, i was on my way to see him when i came across you. what is your name?" he asked eagerly

Before Jabez received his answer, a dark shadow cast over them. Ebony looked up to see a massive golden dragon.
"Jabez.. what is that?" he said dully but the alarm on his face was obvious.
Jabez looked to the dragon in astonishment and then sunk into a black shadowy pit under his feet.
the beast was flying gracefully to the capitol. its skin was bright and beautiful but its intentions could not have been darker.

The dragon clung to the city's buildings and perched on its walls, tearing away history as it did so. it thrashed is head and tail about the structures, forcing them to crumble. the citizens were grasping for their children and fleeing for their lives. who would save them from this mighty offense.
the creature took flight and hovered over the city. hundreds dead already. the beast unleashed is flaming terror on the capitol. its destructive brigade killed thousands.

Jabez rose from a smokey pit in his daughters bedroom. he snatched her from her flowery cradled and held her tight to his chest. she meerly cooed, she never seemed to cry. she is such a good baby. Jabez thought to himself. he could see the dragon unleashing its rage on the city through her window. the beast shifted it head and made eye contact with Jabez. it was as if everything had gone still for a moment. Jabez's eyes grew wide with panic and the beast lurched towards them, beating its heavy scaly wings. it grasped the building with its hooks and talons and a bit of the ceiling fell before Jabez. He opened shadowy gap in the wall and dashed into it. the monster breathed flames into the room through the window and roared in frustration. Jabez was in the crumbling city streets before him was the crumpled form of a dead child. the hair stood on the back of his neck, to think that the child could very well have been is own. to his left was a woman whimpering in pain. she was unable to see through the blood in her eyes and more than half of her body was crushed under a piece of fallen stone. and further on were people fleeing through the city gates. the dragon had then drawn its attention to the gates of the city. Jabez hardly needed to imagine what would come of the fleeing civilians. He held Gail close to his armored chest and he formed a cocoon around her so that she was also protected in his armor.
the gates were not so far from Jabez and he made a mad dash to get there before the dragon did. he put himself between them and hurdled a hardened black spike at the beast. it had caught the dragon off guard and put a nice gash in its left wing. it screamed in agony, and Jabez further ushered the civilians to hurry and exit the city.
Ebony had finally caught up with Jabez and was the only person entering the city. he could see Jabez diverting the dragons attention away from the people and was running towards the chapel. Ebony used his powers to move atop a building close to the dragon. he then leaped and hooked is claws into one of the beasts feet. the feet were so callused that it didnt notice. Ebony slowly made his way to the back of the beast and was between is mighty wings. the dragon had begun to swoop down at Jabez and Ebony knew Jabez couldn't run fast enough to get away.
no, Jabez thought to himself how could i have but Gail in danger like this? Jabez was beginning to regret his decision to distract the beast.
he tuned to look back at the beast that would be his doom and was surprised to see Ebony on its back. Ebony had summoned an enormous axe and lifted it high above his head. the axe fell and severed the dragons right wing clean off. the monster flung its head back and screamed in agonizing terror and crashed in the city plaza.

Auren stepped through the portal, Oriana in tow when the dragon landed in front of him.
"...What the crap?" was all he managed to get out before Oriana stepped through.
The Huscarl's wings lit up full as he drew both swords, pushing Oriana to the side none-to-gently. Better a bruise now rather then Something Bad.
Already with one wing? Someone else must be fighting it... he thought as he took a defensive stance.
Waiting for the Dragon's movements, he readied himself.
