"Together. It just seems to me like Nightfall looks still a little weak. Perhaps you should take her up into newfather tree," Cutter suggested.
Leetah gave them a small knowing smile. She had a feeling she knew what her lifemate was thinking, and if she was right, they would all be mimicking Skywise before too long. Her expression shifted as something occured to her. Might they mimic him in other ways? She studied her friends, considering how hard it had been for them to have Tyleet. Had Cutter anticipated that, or was he just thinking that they could both use a good roll? suddenly she wasn't so sure that she knew. For some one she still called her barbarian, Cutter's mind could be incredibly complex. At times.

It did sound tempting, Nightfall knew. Ever since Tyleet was born they had been a family of three at all times. While she wasn't full grown, she was suddenly not a little cub anymore. Her Tyleet. But still, she was missing in a strange wood. "But Tyleet...." she started.
Redlance was worried about Tyleet as well. She didn't have the personality to defend herself, but then, he knew most people beleived that of himself and pike as well. Even with them having earned those names. One-eye no one questioned. Strongbow. Cutter. No one ever worried that they could or would not defend themselves. But himself, Pike, Leetah. Leetah had killed a troll defending her daughter. Of course she nearly destroyed herself with guilt after, but they were all wolfriders. He would not do that to his daughter. He would teach her, and then he would believe in her.

"A hunt!" Ember cried out, excited.
Nightfall nodded. She trusted her chief, but m ore, she trusted her friend. Cutter would take care of Tyleet, and it would do the cub good to get to know him better. "Leetah?" she asked.

"We're going back to newfather tree," Nightfall said. "Cutter's going to hunt for Tyleet, and he's taking your cubs, did you want to tree with us?" she asked.

Leetah studied her, trying to determine if she had been invited as friend, or as healer. Friend, she decided. In which case, there was only one answer. "Perhaps later," Leetah said. She wanted to give Cutter's plan a chance to work. "I want to get to know the new elves some. But later, we should all lock send, add your memories to ours, and Skywise's to yours."

"We'd need fresh meat... and dreamberries...." Cutter said, considering it. That was perhaps not the best way to get all the information out, but it was the best way to really feel it. Plus the new wolfriders had probably never been to a howl. It would have been better with more, and a storyteller. Cutter blinked. "Two Moons..." he said.

"Leave the dreamberries to me," Redlance said with a grin.
"And we could do a full pack hunt," Nightfall added. "If Caelestra is willing to stay back with the cubs, we can go after some really big prey."
"Tyleet should come," Redlance said.
"Really?" Nightfall asked, surprised.
"She's big enough now for a hunt, why not. Cub should learn soon, and a big hunt with the whole pack around is as safe as she'll get without picking on something smaller."

"If Tyleet gets to hunt, I want to hunt too!" Ember demanded.
"We need your help with something back at the holt," Redlance told Ember.
"This is a trick," she decided.
"You haven't even heard what he has to say," Nightfall pointed out.
"It's going to be a trick." Ember insisted.
"A good chief can tell where she is needed, but first she listens."
"Father once said that listening too much is almost as bad as being deaf." Ember said pointedly.

"She chooses the most interesting times to listen," Cutter muttered under his breath.
"Yes," Leetah said to Ember. "Sometimes it is bad to listen too much, but that is the rare case, cub. First one has to listen a lot to know what too much is."

"Oh alright, I'll listen, but it's going to be a trick!" Ember said.
"Caelestra is about to be a mommy, you know that, right Ember?" Redlance said.
"Yeaaaaah.... so?" Ember asked.
"She's never had to take care of cubs before. If she only has to take care of Suntop, she'll think it's too easy. Before she has her own cubs, she has to get used to some one who will keep her on her toes."
"Wait... you want me to make trouble?" Ember asked, suspiciously.
"I want you to keep her busy. Be active. Play games with her. She's with cub, so you can't pick anything dangerous, or the cub she's carrying could get hurt. But you can play all sorts of games with her that you usually can't play with adults," Redlance said.
"Well... okay," Ember said. "Just this once, 'cause I gotta do my duty to my pack an help um out, cause I'm gonna be chief someday. But next hunt, I go."

"We shall see," Leetah said warmly. She stood carefully. "If you are going to go with your father to find Tyleet, you should go now, before the daystar rises too high. You kn ow your father cannot stand as much sun as you, Ember. Suntop, keep an eye on them both for me."
Cutter shot his lifemate a glare.
