... limewire? xD

You have to be UBER careful with Limewire- some of those supposed downloads are heavy viruses capable of bypassing most anti-virus if given the chance (aka if you download them and try to use to 'install' the so called PS). It practically killed my first computer, and I'll never be so naive again. xD

Try Frostwire instead. It's what Evan uses on his Windows comp, and he's a hacker/nerd/geek/computer genius. If he trusts it, it should be good. I'd do some heavy double-checking with it first, though. He also uses Avast! Anti-virus security software, that you can download for free from http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

Also, he uses Spybot - Search and Destroy, which can also be downloaded for free at http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html to clean up his comp of Spyware, Malware, and Adware. Both of those used with Frostwire should keep your comp nice and clean and also get you the software you want. n_n

:0 really? I use Limewire for music - is that still risky? (well technically, most of those sources are risky, but still...)

Frostwire also gave me a virus, except I caught that one before it started- it was a pretty powerful bug from what I looked up about it.

The two of them are practically identical, with the only difference being the same difference keeping Mac user's safe- Frostwire isn't nearly as populated as Limewire, keeping it safe. Security through obscurity xD

I'm not trying to scare you into not using either of them- I still use Limewire to this day. I'm simply saying watch what you download. Specifically, look at the size of the file you're downloading. All songs should be a few thousand KB (I think it was KB), so downloading a song that's only a few hundred kb? That's almost clearly a virus.

The safest thing to do for any PvP program is to just scan anything you download before actually activating it (as in, playing the song or installing the software).

EDIT: Wow, I can't believe I forgot this. >_< It was Frostwire that killed my computer, not Limewire. However, the potential for computer-destruction is the same for both, so the above advice still applies. That was two years ago and I won't be making any stupid mistakes like THAT again.

I'm glad it works so well for you, Maggie-chan! I won't use any other security software on Ebony because Avast! and Spybot work so well together. Don't forget to thank Evan, he's the one who gave me the links! (He really wants fanart of himself, but I know you won't do fanart for Kingdom Academy...) n_n And with Limewire or Frostwire, if you use the right anti-virus software (ie. NOT McAFEE OR NORTON), then actually neither one is that big of a threat... But yes, you should scan everything you download, especially from Limewire or Frostwire.

Actually, if you DL something using Firefox, it'll scan everything for viruses for you automatically so you don't have to... *shameless plug*

But Limewire does kill computers a lot faster than Frostwire. Just keep Avast! and Spybot installed on your comp and run them as often as possible and you should be fine. If not, sue either Limewire or Frostwire, whichever one you use. ^o^ jk, jk... The real trick in keeping your computer safe is to be so ridiculously careful that you become a**l about it. sweatdrop I'm like that now, because I do NOT want a repetition of the Beast, my dad's computer, which had like ten thousand viruses on it, was completely wiped three times, and still fails because HE DOESN'T FREAKING TAKE CARE OF IT!!!

Spybot you should download the updates at least once a week, and after that run the Immunization process (you have to run Spybot as an administrator to do this, which is easy. You just right-click the icon and select "Run as administrator" from the dropdown menu). Finally, run the "search for problems" feature and get rid of anything that shows up red, and you're golden! Avast! you should run constantly, and it should start up automatically as well. Be sure to put Avast! it's highest setting, too.

But anyway, congrats on finding your scanner! I can't wait to see what you put up next!!!! heart

YAY!! Sorry I haven't been popping in here o.o But next time you're on AIM Fuu I'll give you CS2?? biggrin *goes to double check she isn't on AIM now*

I personally don't use Limewire or Frostwire haha... I used this one site called Forumw.org that my CS friend recommended, they tend to have most programs for computers and stuff like Office 2007 o.o on sites like megaupload so it's much safer. That's where I got my nod32 antivirus :]

Thank you Evan! *guggles* Ive been trying to find releable ones for ages. Bullguard just invites itself on your comp and all the others just work when they want too. I know what you mean about monotouring your computer day and night for even the littlest virus, cus as soon as one gets in they all have this backstage party.

Heya Lavvy! Do I have you're AIM? that would be great if you could, ill be on tonight so if you just gimmie a nudge as soon as you're on i'll be glad to download it. Yeah magaupload tends to good, i got all of my Avatar episodes from there *cough*

But if you don't then it's sushiishyummi .... yeah weird hahah I dunno what compelled me XD
