Something about the way he spoke...it unsettled her.

Nalini began to extend her arm, as though she was going to place it on his shoulder, and stopped. She felt like she was the last person who should be comforting ******** it, she thought, and clasped him.

She sat back down on the edge of MK's desk, her face impassive.
'...Care to fill me in on what I'm still missing? If time is so critical, then it makes sense to tell me now, then wait 'til tomorrow, doesn't it?'

There is a lot more at stake here than either you or Kat. All of Gaia is at stake. It's too complicated to go over right now. Let's meet up first thing in the morning, and I will tell you everything then, okay?

He watched over her, thinking about all that had transpired... and then passed out. His body shifted back once more to the Dysadi*

 Lella frowned, hoping that she had just dreamed what she might have heard, and sniffs the air, smelling the vampire.So that's all it is, huh?She stood up and glared at his sleeping form.I was a fool for ever trusting that you cared for anything beyond my race. It was the entire reason you bought me, after all.It felt suddenly wrong to be lying there after all that she had heard, and got up to sleep elsewhere.

Trudging over to the Captain's office, Nalini came to a halt when she reached his door, knocked on it a couple of times and stepped inside.
