((Did I leave the staff in the deer's antler?))
As the raft rolled down the stream he could see the grounds clearly. They were home. It felt good to be back and out of that damn forest. Moving closer to the shore grabbing the oar he nudged Kore out of his lap. "Come on buddy go find Baki tell him how well you did today." Karite steered the raft into the shore and began downloading as Kore shot off. Karite laughed at the cub as he ran through the snow towards the warm fire. Baki would be proud of him Karite knew it. Looking at the other two he thought of the easiest way to move this large catch. "How about we just drab the raft to the fire. It would be easier then carrying everything individually again." Karite was fine with carrying it all individually but working together would impress Maya and get it down faster. He hopped Maya would forget he hadn't finished his push-ups but he highly doubted it and should probably get it done when they settled down so he could wash off the day.
Kore felt Karite nudge hom out of his sleeping state. Groggly standing the cub noticed the familiar place and instantly knew where they were. As soon as Karite docked the quickly crafted raft Kore shot off through the snow moving as fast as he could as he came through the grounds closer to the fire he saw Baki and Maya. Being so happy to see them the cub ran faster only to trip over his own feet. Rolling in towards the two head over tails the cub slowed down and landed on his bum. Shaking off the tumble the cub looked at Baki and Maya with the biggest smile any cat could give. He was happy to be home and happier with what he did today.

The youth had struggled to maintain his chakra for the entire ride. For once he was smiling although a few beads of sweat were coming off his face. Instead of being cold the boy was the opposite. He was hot, mostly from the strain of maintaining the control. He was lucky that the ride back was nice and slow without any waves, for that would have broken his concentration. This point was proven even more once the raft made contact with land. The energy around him immediately ‘poofed’ out of existence leaving a heavily breathing boy. His head pivoted slightly from atop the mountain of animals to see Karite had suggested that they drag the raft back. Another bother. The snake child was beginning to contemplate of a way to shirk this mundane task, but decided he was only meters away from the grounds. He just had to bite the metaphorical arrow this time. The bigger concern that would arise in the near future would be his accommodations for sleeping tonight. Camping out on frozen grass was not an idea of fun. Especially if he knew of an alternative. The Tenmoki Household was in no use at the moment and the youth had a key. It would just make sense to sleep in a warm, comforting home.
Ghost skin leaped from his perched position onto land. He walked slowly up to Karite slightly heaving. “If that is what you want to do. You or Orika take command.” the fanged mouth replied awaiting to see how the other two wanted to go about doing it.

[If you did...you're dead. >:E]
Maya stood, hearing a commotion and turning to see just what the hell it was. The trio - and what were they dragging with them. Maya's eyes narrowed and she growled softly to herself, looking down at Kore sternly and without a single word. She curled her upper lip slightly, but otherwise ignored the cub and the buck she still had to cure. At this rate she would never get done! But still... they had come by the river, and that alone pissed her off. It would take a few days before anything they brought back would be out of the system, since where they landed was a small pond-lake where the water was still before it moved on. The blood from anything they killed would pool, and make the water undrinkable. Her brow furrowed and she crossed her arms, standing like a predator over a kill as she waited for them to explain themselves.

Baki, with his sharper sense of smell than the sick Maya, caught the scent of a full-on slaughter. He greeted Kore, but the low warning in his throat let the cub know that he knew Kore hadn't done all the work himself, and the amount of meat was too much even for three humans to have taken down without help from man-made materials. Maya had been out of swing, so maybe she wouldn't notice...but Baki knew immediately what was going to happen. He bared his fangs towards Kore and nipped his ear, careful not to draw any blood, and shook his heavy mane. He stood, ready to stand between the already-distressed girl and the three that would very soon be their next meal. The snake-boy wouldn't be very tasty; the other two, though, had at least some chance at being a decent dinner...~ Rewards ~ -- Karite -- +1 Taijutsu +3 Sprint +2 Grapple +1 Charisma +1 Endurance +2 Staff +1 Blacksmith

The three warriors in training did not receive the welcome that Shisei would have expected. There was no praise or anything. No hint of awe from their return. No ‘I was worried’ and ‘you should be more careful to return earlier’ sermons. Just one woman with her lion, both having irritated expressions. This made the snake feel uneasy. His brain didn’t expect the woman to be upset already. Worse yet Shisei wasn’t sure of what the reason may be. His frame was threading on a tightrope now unsure of what Maya wanted to hear. Gold eyes pivoted towards Karite and Orika. “Your weapons better be hidden somewhere…” his brain was and eyes sternly reinforcing, but his lips released no words. While the other did the mundane work the serpent youth walked up to his feral superior slightly worried. Despite his face remaining impassive the boy’s heart had begun to drum at a steady beat and it wasn’t from the chakra control on the ride over. He had to think. There was no way his form could take a full fledged shinobi. Especially this person with her ‘partner’. Gold eyes stared at the larger lion for a second before turning back to Maya and making a small bow. “I can’t tell what she is thinking…. Less information maybe better, but may also look sketchy. I need to calm down. There is an alibi. We’ll be safe. I just need to let her lead the conversation for now. Once I have a better understanding of her feelings I can adjust the conversation to my advantage.” the youth though to himself first. Then his lips began to speak. “We have returned with the animals you wanted sempai.”

Maya continued to ignore the buckskin as her eyes narrowed. All of it, huh? She didn't say a word to Shisei as she walked passed him, Baki a single step behind her, and approached Karite and Orika, still on the make-shift raft. Her tawny eyes grew annoyed, then angry - the hunt had gone well, but she would examine the animals before she even said anything to them. And what was this? Karite and Orika seemed too...close. Maya bared her teeth and let out a throaty snarl directed at the two, then shoved them both away from the kills. In a pride, the lion ate first, then the lionesses, then the cubs. They would learn pecking order, at the very least. Maya knelt and ran her hands over the kill-wounds. Her face hardened; these were enough to tell her what she needed to know. She shook her head, fuming, the absolute rage coming off of her in thick, invisible clouds. Without a word, she motioned for the three to move the meat off the raft and towards the campfire, where she would spend the night preparing it ... but not before she made sure the trio knew that she knew they hadn't learned a damn thing in her opinion. Maybe she'd have to bury them somewhere on the island, but they would learn...the easy way, or the hard way.

As Maya and Baki walked passed, the serpent youth’s eyes lowered very maliciously. “Ignoring me…” his mind began to contemplate a few vicious thoughts, but they subsided as quickly as they had arose. The teen golden brown hair teen still had her sights set on the kill. Shisei could only pray now the two fools in love had disposed of their armaments from sight. It’d be much harder for the snake child to explain with the club, kama, knuckle blades and staff around. Then he’d definitely have to take most of the blame. His mind was trying to examine the beast woman’s every move. Especially how her entire body seemed to tighten at the sight of the animals. Shisei could not see her face, but the way how some of her muscles became more noticeable seemed to be a deadly premonition of what is to come. “Damn… could she have figured it out already…”. The snake kid began to think. He had an alibi for the stabbed animals, but those crushed by the club and staff. Now the dread head wished that he found some broken branch in the forest and smeared it a bit with deer blood. Still. He couldn’t suggest anything about weapons until they were brought up. If he said anything about them unprovoked first that would just incriminate the three more. At the same time the scaly youth knew he’d probably have to go on the offense if Maya was not planning to say something. “Is there something wrong sempai?” Shisei stated rising from his bow and staring at the woman. He kept his distance though. That should at least open up the field of conversation.

Karite was drawn back by Maya's welcome. He new she was cruel sometimes but they had just got back from doing exactly what she said with a bigger catch then she wanted. Climbing off the raft he offered Orika a hand as he looked to Maya. "Is there something wrong? You seem angry for some reason." Karite was trying to peace together what could possibly be wrong. He was looking and saw nothing in the animals that was a weapon but some of the wounds could be seen clearly as such. A rock could be substituted for the club, Shisei used sticks on all his prey but the gaping hole in the chest of the deer followed by the bite marks and claw marks gave away Karite more then anything. no stick would have been that strong to pierce through the chest cavity of a buck. He being know as a thief as well did not help his case. He would more then likely take the fall for this. Looking at Baki he was trying to read off of him what was going to happen. He looked hungry, which wasn't a good thing.
Kore nipped back from Baki as he attacked his ear lightly. Knowing Baki had figured something out. Not even bothering following the two he went in the tent and laid down and tried to sleep. Something bad was going to happen and the cub did not want to be there to see it. Today had been a longer day then he wanted and it seemed that it was only going to get longer. Laying in the tent did not ease his worries. He was apart of the hunt so either way he was in trouble. Stepping out the cub walked back over to the trio and took his spot next to Karite where he belonged. Together with his friend and family. Although he had a feeling they might not be living for much longer.

Maya couldn't even concentrate on the skin she had left to finish. Something wrong? Oh, they had some nerve...
"You used weapons," she said quietly, the tone of her voice obviously full of meaning: she was angry. "It should have been impossible to bring back all of what I told you to, but you did, and then brought more. There wasn't any need for meat - but obviously you boneheads don't see further than doing what you're told no matter what." Maya spoke slowly, coldly, fury apparent in her darkening eyes. "Lie to me all you want, but none of you was strong enough to bring these down without a weapon. I don't want to know where you hid them, and I don't want to know where they came from. But I'm not lying for you. If Shinichi asks, you're all screwed. You aren't my pride, not even you just yet Karite, so while I might have responsibility, I have no desire to protect you from his wrath. Do you even understand why he took those privileges from you? Had you all wanted you could have killed each other in the Forest, and I wouldn't have given a damn, and neither would Shinichi. And why? Because you didn't listen." Maya's cold fury quickly gave way to fatigue, and her stiff figure slumped slightly and she shook her head, turning away from them. What was she supposed to do now? If they had stolen the weapons, who had they taken them from? Who had been the one to go steal them? Confused, torn, and bothered, Maya plopped down and stared at the fire. Half of what she had just said hadn't even made sense...
But the sense of betrayal was strong, that much Maya did know, and that was what she held to. She couldn't trust them.

"Everything for the mission!" Karite yelled to Maya as he turned away. There was so much Karite wanted to reply to her right now but he knew he couldn't. If he stood up to her it would do him no good. He would haul the meat back to the fire finish her training and do his own training. The when she slept he would have Kore find all the weapons and return them before Hamma noticed. It seemed he would have to start doing things the right way with some work involved. The it happened, Karite just had to open his mouth. "What about you Maya. Have you always listened? Have you always left it be? You don't seem like the type to quite because the odds are stacked against you. So we used some weapons. They will be returned before they ever figure it out. We got the mission done and we did it together without killing each other. Isn't that what this is all about? The three of us being able to work together with each other? We there it is Maya, you got all the meat you could ask for and all four of us are alive and unharmed for the most part. We didn't go at each others throats all day. we worked as a single unit for the betterment of each other. We played off each others strengths and weaknesses and we did what you asked us to. I don't know about you but to me that deserves some damn praise. The weapons are no ones fault but my own. I stole them I will take full responsibility for it. Maya it seems we failed you again. Tell us what the hell you want! We are working together is that what you want or do you want us to listen cause right now I am not hearing a damn thing but an uptight genin who is so involved in her own despair to notice people around her who try and care for her. Or the fact that someone is trying to be apart of her life and trying damn hard." Karite was done he knew it. This was the end of the line where he died. Yet, he did not move. He gazed head on his silver eyes staring into the back of her head. This was the one thing he had been trying to say to her for a long time.

“Karite, you idiot!” the serpent child was screaming to himself. There was no reason to admit to the truth! She had no proof and wouldn’t have followed through. They would have been in for the clear. Yet the reaper had to explode with life’s stresses! As noble as his speech was, now was not the time for noble thinking. The snake youth stared over at Maya. Funny how the silver eyed boy was worried about Shisei pushing Maya’s buttons when it was the reverse. It seemed that Karite just may meet his end at the Tategami princess. Even if he did survive the boy was probably blowing his chance to join the clan. If the wild woman chose he would never be part of the clan and his little pet would be taken away. “Don’t you think ahead of the consequences? You are going to erase what he’s been trying for since you’ve been here.” Shisei thought. The dread head began to contemplate what do next. The most obvious move now was that the snake youth would have to fold. Karite would pay for this. The good thing was that the farm girl was keeping her mouth shut. Now what words could at least alleviate this situation?
Maya was enigmatic to Shisei. He didn’t expect her to be smart enough to catch on so quickly. Now his other plan was blown since Karite confirmed they had used weapons. “What should I say…”. What could be said? Just as she was about to erupt with a geyser of anger, the rage subsided. Then the poet had to go poke at the ‘beehive’. Would her anger collapse again? Or would this haphazard team be done to two humans and a kitten? The thought of just him and Orika made Shisei’s mind think faster for a way to ease the situation. For if it came down to him and Orika, the team would be of only one soon… and the serpent would not be the one to die. The snake could not get a grasp on what Maya or her lion was thinking at the moment. The best way was to put his self at risk. “Great…”
Pushing back his violet dreads with one hand the maverick walked up behind Maya calmly, but with a slight caution in his gait. He didn’t need any movements to seem threatening at the moment. “Maya-sempai…. do not trouble yourself over Karite’s words. He and Orika are too passionate for their own good. That and Karite’s stressed out from the hunt. As the main hunter of the group he did most of the work and with the worst injury of us three.”. Good maybe that could get him partially off the hook. Or at least a step out of death’s door. One gold eye glared back at the emerald hair teen for a moment. “Now just keep your mouth shut.”. Now for the next part. “It is true sempai. We did use weapons, but Karite was wrong on one part. I was the one that stole the weapons. I am the fastest and being the least injured I could have combated the animals easier.” At this point Shisei let the two wooden stakes he used for his murders fall to the floor by the side of Maya. “This is what I used to kill the animals. I am better with sharper objects therefore it was easy for me to make these, but the other two needed something more for their fitting. So I went out and took those weapons for them on this mission. I was planning to give them back at a later time.” the pale lips breathed out. Shisei purposely failed to say anything about his armaments or that it was Orika’s idea to return them, but Maya did not need to know that. “Once they had the weapons our mission was completed and the two of them performed at outstanding capacity. It could not have been accomplished without them.”. If Shisei was Pinocchio, his nose would have been as long as a nodachi by now. The amount of lies he was spinning and truths that were being twisted… it would be a wonder if the serpent could keep it all together if needed to say it again at a later time. The dread head would worry about that later. The situation at hand took precedence. “I am sorry if we brought back too much meat. We only wanted to impress and be acknowledged by you Maya-sempai. If the main objective of this was to see if we can work together then your mission was accomplished. As you can see by the amount of animals we worked as a team.”
There. That should have been enough to butter and appease the woman. The Orochi born was proud that he could have put it together on the spot, but he was still unsure of how the woman would reply. She shouldn’t have any qualms left provided she believed all of it. Just in case though Shisei was already thinking ahead to his next response. “What next do you want to know Tategami woman? Even Ero-Sensei should be pleased to see us appearing to work together so there should be no uneasiness in your heart over this. He may just free you from taking care of us if he hears we worked together. Isn’t that what you want too? Even if do get some punishment, I can still retrieve my stuff after. So how will you respond?”
Scanning the Lioness Maya’s a mystery. For Shisei to keep everyone under control on the grounds he’ll need to observe her movements. d20+ Intelligence [5]= 7 DC: 15 Train:0/5

Maya turned and glared at Karite.
"Not a damn word from you. I still haven't forgiven you for almost getting Kore killed," she hissed. She let her eyes slide towards Orika, who had yet to say a word throughout the whole ordeal. "I may be stupid, but I'm not blind - you think I can't see? You forgave her already for it. Everyone I have known has died or abandoned me, and you won't be any different. So what will it be? Are you going to run before it's too late, or are you going to die?" Maya snorted and shook her head, already annoyed that she couldn't even finish tanning her skins. She took a deep breath and masked her emotions, shaking her head and hunkering down to just...ignore them. But...
"Everything for the mission huh? How many have you killed, Karite, that you can say that without feeling bad? I don't care who you took weapons from...Shinichi isn't going to come down on you. You're my responsibility, and I failed," she said quietly. She became suddenly intrigued by the lynx and doe she had finished, and by the buck she had yet to touch. She ground her teeth harshly, swallowing the lump in her throat. For once, she wanted Shuga to be around, drunk or sober. It didn't matter. Shuga, who had raised her...who had taken her in. Maya sniffled and rubbed her face, leaving her hands there and mumbling through them loud enough for all three students to hear.
"Take my tent...feed Ruha. Jus' go to sleep," she managed to get out, before turning and standing again, pulling a doe from the meat pile and dragging it almost effortlessly towards the fire, the cut across her cheek dark and dry now.

Maya couldn't handle the buck skin yet...but there was a nice sized buck on the 'raft'. She pulled it by the antlers easily, and made a low noise in her throat when Baki began to help her. She wanted nothing more than to finish her skins now and escape the grounds, away from these three...but she couldn't. Not when she knew Shinichi was watching her every move. He'd asked her if she was a traitor, when she tried to defend Seshiro, who had been one of the first students to even acknowledge her before academy started. Aya had come to get her then, and they had sparred for the first time, and grown close. Then Kana had stolen Aya, and tried to trap her behind the academy. Stupid Kana...Maya ground her teeth as she remembered all the times she'd been betrayed, starting with Kiyo and partially Aya, and more recently, Xyn, it seemed. He was no where to be found, and Maya had given up on him.

Maya lowered her gaze and motioned them to leave her be, though she did turn her tired tawny eyes on Shisei.
"Orochi Shisei ... I won't lie for any of you. If Shinichi finds out, it's my hide, no matter how proud he might be of you working as a team. It wasn't by his rules, and his rules were no weapons," she said quietly, though she did lower her gaze for a moment before murmuring, "It's a good catch..." she admitted, loud enough for all of them to hear. Even so, Maya just continued to pull the dead beasts towards the fire, already planning the long night ahead.

Maya spent a few minutes pulling the animals towards the fire (the dead ones, mind you), and then studied them...then turned her attention back to the buck skin she had yet to even touch. She sighed; it would be hard keeping all the brains separated, not to mention the chunks of fat she would need for the final finishing touch she would have to do in the morning. She bit her lip, chewing on it thoughtfully as she tried to organize her thoughts. Deer, rabbits, and a boar...well the boar leather wasn't all that useful, and it didn't need to be finished. It could just be stretched and laid on the ground for sitting upon, or even given to the cubs for playing. But...it wasn't really her kill, so she just had to prepare it. Even so...most of it would go to Mai, right? She had no where to keep all this meat. Maybe Udo could take some, since he cooked for the students and stuff all the time. Maya's head swam and she sighed again.

Karite let his words sit and did as he was told. Placing some food in a wooden bowl he walked into the tent and softly stroked Ruha out of her slumber. The young cub was cute indeed but she was not his partner but to him family none the less. Sitting down a bowl for the cub he exited the tent and looked at Kore. "You hungry buddy?," the boy asked wondering how much his friend had to eat in the last couple of days. The cub just turned away though. "Hmm, guess not." Walking further into the grounds the boy tried to get as far away from Maya as he could muster. "Why does she always have to act so high and mighty? She use to be just like me I know it. She couldn't always have been that cold." Plopping down into the snow Karite got in a stance to finish his push ups before learning the jutsu from class. He was ready to graduate and he was ready to become a shinobi...whatever that meant. Karite didnt realize how much energy he had really used today. It seemed like the more he pushed his body the more it didnt want to work. Dropping to his knees he breathed a little bit trying to calm down and focused, but instead he pounded the ground with his fist over and over again. "What does she want from me?"
Push Ups, Maya Style 1d20 + Strength[3] DC: 18 Train 2/4
Kore sat as Maya did not strike him down. It was a surprise to see the boy still standing. Yet Karite still followed her orders even after an outburst like that. For the first time in Kore's time with Karite he could feel the anger pouring off the boy. He would be upset with her for many days to come.
As Karite came back out the tent the cub noticed him asking if he wanted food. Remembering their hunt today the answer was no. Kore was lacking in a essential tool he needed to be apart of this pride and that was strength.
Walking into the grounds his own separate way the cub walked to a tree. Looking at the tree from a distance Kore wanted to see if he could knock down the snow. The tree wasn't to big so it shouldn't have been to much hassle he thought. Running at the tree with full force the cub lowered his head and smashed it full speed. Falling down from the force the cub was also covered in a white powder. It had worked. A little bit, but not enough. he wanted the tree bare.
