Path yawned. "Mornin' Kalypso."he said nodding in greeting to the black stallion. He followed Konoha keeping an eye on the men.

Gwen began eating. She tossed Kavik a strawberry, his favorite treat. She smiled at Colonel. "Thanks."she murmured happily.

"Hmm so when do we set out?"Gwen asked quietly eating a strawberry.

Path snorted shaking his head. "Don't push yourself to far Konoha or the longer we will be staying here."he snorted softly. He nuzzled Konoha his ears flickering as he listened to the men talking.

Path sighed and trotted a few yards away. He layed down in the lush grass. His wounds were hurting and he wished that girl with the gentle voice, sweet smelling pain reliever, and sugary treats would come.

Gwen nodded. "I wonder how many guys are hoping they get Path or Konoha."she mused softly. She sipped her coffee.

Konoha glanced back at Path and returned her attention to the fence. She was irratated because of the wound and the Fort and its men only made it worse. She wanted to be out to be away from men and even from the other horses. She wanted to be alone, like she was the day before by the river. "Why me? Why him? Can't I just live in peace away from all this nonsense?" She was mumbeling to herself and watching the men, a few of which had stumbled out of their gathering place and were eagerly makeing their way to the fence.

Before Colonel could respond one of the men answered Gwen's question by asking Colonel who would get the pale mare and the stallion. Other men soon joined in stateing that they wanted either the mare or the stallion and a few called for the palimino and the black stallion. Colonel ignored them or waved them away and turned back to Gwen. "Well I guess that answers that." He leaned towards her and whispered, "But you know neither of those two will go to the men."

Eclipse had been caught up in her own thoughts for a while. She nodded to Kohona and Path, "'Morning." There was a twinge of uneasiness in her voice, though, because of the rising activity in the Fort. She turned her attention to the pacing Kalypso.

She trotted over to him, and murmered, "This is worrying... But in the least I think they won't kill us... they would have done so already..." She kept pace with him, "I think it would be a good idea if you stopped pacing... it will just tire you out, and I think we'll need all of our energy today." She slowed to a trot just above a jog, hoping he would slow as well.

Konoha flicked her ears back. Kalypso and Eclipse's paceing only aggiatated her more, specialy the fact that she should not join them. Instead she stocked away to the other side of the encloser, avoiding Path. Standing with her head up and her ears laid back she eyed the men, quite a few were sitting on the fences and pointing to horses.

"Let them have their hopes for now, they'll find out soon enough." Colonel finished his last bite and took a gulp from his coffee mug. He followed her gaze to the window and shook his head. "We are going to have one tough time with that little group. They don't want to be so bad you can almost feel it by looking at them. See the mare's gone off on her own away from Path, first time by her choice. And Kalypso is pacing the fence with Eclipse."

Konoha snuck a glance at Path, not wanting him to know that she was looking. What she saw only upset her more, He's waiting for that girl. Snorting she made her way over to the fence that seperated the four of them from the rest of the wild horses, this had been untouched by men and smelt only of wood and horses. She stood next to it and lowered her head, effectively sulking in a corner. She never noticed the men that had jumped over the ouside fence and came to the inside one, untill she felt a hand on her back. Frightened she whinnied and whipped her head up, smacking one of the men and knocking him backwards. She pinned her ears and bit at the other man, landing a good bit on his shoulder, to which he scampered off the fence. Nostrils flareing she limped as quickly as she could to the center of the pasture, ears back and rolling her eyes at the men.

"Looks like it. We'll have to wait to tend to them till after the men have had their picks. Any little thing is likely to start a fight and them who knows what." Colonel stood and puched in his chair, the room had mostly emptied and the men who were still eating hurridely finished up and rushed out the door. "Let's get this over with." He ran a hand through his hair and noticed that he had forgotten to shave that morning and likely would not have the time to do so.

She stood watching Path and the colt race, wanting to join them. Becuase she couldn't and simply collapsed to her knees and laid in the grass, sleep wouldn't come not with all the men about but she could at least close her eyes and escape from it all momentarily. Listening to Path's fimiliar hoof beats she wished she could be running with him.
