Wendy stood by herself in the corridor of the train, feeling like an idiot.
She'd spent the first part of the ride in a compartment with her few Ravenclaw friends until they'd sent her out to get sweets from the trolley. Once she'd returned to the compartment it had been full; a group of chattering Slytherin girls had taken all of the remaining seats, leaving Wendy to wander the corridor in search of an empty space. She hadn't found one yet.
She stopped in front of a compartment filled with Gryffindors to try to gather her thoughts. She realized that she recognized said Gryffindors - she didn't know if they considered her a friend, but she'd done homework for almost all of them at least once in her time at Hogwarts. She wondered if she should ask them if they could spare her a seat, then decided against it - they were a year older than her and they were popular and she simply didn't have the guts.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, feeling more helpless by the second.

Marketa happened to look out the window to the compartment door, and saw a girl standing out there, looking embarrassed. She was reminded almost painfully of how she herself had felt at the beginning of the train ride: Helpless, lost, and confused as to how she had gotten out there. She made eye contact with the girl and smiled, nodding warmly to her and hoping she would see it as an offer to at least request to come into the compartment. "Sirius," she said softly, nodding to the girl outside.

Wendy then noticed the Hufflepuff girl - A Hufflepuff amidst all those Gryffindors! - and saw the welcoming smile. Wendy offered her own nervous smile in return, comforted a little by the girl's gesture. She took a deep breath. C'mon, Wendy, you can do this. All you've gotta do is ask if they've got extra space. You won't even have to talk after that. C'mon.
Her eyes downcast, she slid open the compartment door. "U-um... she stammered, "I, er, I was wondering... See, I got kicked out of my compartment, and I thought maybe... Er... Would you mind if I... sat in here?"
There. That wasn't so hard, was it now?

"Wha -?" Sirius began to reply to Marketa before he was distracted by the sound of the compartment door. His eyes lifted to see a Ravenclaw standing there, looking embarrassed and slightly intimidated.
God! I hate when people get intimidated by the likes of us Marauders. What are we - Royalty?
Besides, he recognized her from his third year - she helped him out with a difficult portion of the Astronomy curriculum. He recalled her name, too.
"Go ahead, come in!" He said, gesturing at the empty spot beside Remus. "We don't bite!"

Walks back to her compartment, passing the Marauders and Mar's compartment. 'Looks like their being nice to someone else.' Smiles at them all and continues on to her compartment. Opens her compartment door and sits down, and sighs. "Sorry I rushed off... I had to go to the loo." She said to Amara.

((Oh, the irony. "We don't bite, come sit next to the werewolf!!" Sorry, had to get that out there... xd ))
Wendy blushed even deeper and gave a small nervous laugh before taking her seat next to one of the only ones in the compartment she'd never done homework for. "Thanks," she said, offering Sirius a smile and feeling a bit more relaxed.
Now see? That wasn't so hard, was it? she thought. It's like he says - they don't bite.

Sirius noticed that Wendy visibly relaxed, and he smiled. Then, he yawned, conspicuously putting his arm around Marketa's shoulders.
Giving James a wink, Sirius said nothing.

Wendy saw this and smirked. Then she turned to the boy sitting next to her. She struggled for a moment to remember his name, and eventually it came to her: Remus. She'd never spoken with him, but he seemed nice. Quiet and studious, too. Like her.
Then she turned to James. She remembered him, all right. She'd spent almost her entire third year helping him with Potions. It was a subject he struggled with.
She looked back to Sirius and the girl she didn't know. She noticed they looked nice together; she was pretty, he was - dare she admit it - bloody gorgeous. She smiled a little, thinking of what a cute couple they'd make.
This is better than sitting with my "friends" anyway, she decided, wondering if she should start a conversation and, if so, how she would do it.

Jen exited the bathroom while looking around nervously. She was very embarrassed that she spent most of the train ride in there. Nevertheless, she grabbed her luggage and immediately started looking for her best friend, Lily Evans. She got about halfway down the train and found a compartment filled with people. The main person she spotted was Sirius Black. She smiled, but then saw him with another girl she didn't really recognize, and her spirit fell. She looked around more and saw Lily, so she walked in the compartment and sat next to Lily. "Hey, what's up?" She asked.

The compartment door slid open again, and this time a scrawny boy with mouse-like features tumbled in. He gave a breathless grin. "Hey guys! Took me ages to find you... Did anyone happen to get anything off the trolley? I'm starved!"
His voice was a bit squeaky; shrill almost, and despite his declaration of starvation the speed at which he spoke would have one assume that he'd downed an entire pound of sugar. He scanned the compartment, noticing that it was more full than it usually was, and recognized a Ravenclaw girl sitting beside Remus.
"Oh, hello Wendy!"
Wendy looked up at the entrance of the new boy. No wait, not new - she definitely recognized him. She'd done more homework for him than she cared to count. She plastered a smile on her face when he greeted her.
"Hello, Peter."

Marketa fought a squirm of delight, feeling several muscles discreetly jump in her face and neck, before turning to Wendy while biting her lip. "Hyello...Wendy, right? I be Marketa Prochazka. It is nice to be meeting?" Damn you, stupid accent, she thought while she smiled cheerily.

Wendy turned from Peter to Marketa and smiled. Oh, no fair! She has such an adorable accent! I wish I had an adorable accent!
"Hi! And yeah, it's Wendy. Nice to meet you, too, Marketa. That's a pretty name, by the way," she said, her smile widening a bit.

Mar wrinkled her nose in a friendly way. "Wow, really?" she asked with slight disbelief. "I suppose I have to be content wit it." She shrugged; secretly thinking her name was a bit ugly. "You are very nice, and Wendy is a lovely name," she added with a nod.

Wendy nodded enthusiastically. "I really like it. Oh, and thanks," she added, hearing the compliment about her name. She was grinning freely now, feeling much more at ease. She looked around the compartment. "So... What's new with everyone?" She felt lame as soon as she said it, but she stuck with it - was it so wrong that she wanted the others in on the conversation?

Sirius grinned when he saw Peter, taking in none of the girl-talk that was going on around him - he was just too excited to see his friend! It had been a while, afterall. "Wormtail, mate! 'Tis about time you showed up! We were having a party!"
