Dragoneyes nodded at Hazelpaw. "Very good! If we hunt in one place all the time, there will be no prey left for us to hunt. This is why we must spread out when we hunt."
Dragoneyes spotted a rabbit behing a bush. Her eyes fixed on it, and she flicked her tail at Hazelpaw, motioning for her to try and catch it. Rabbit hunting was a vital skill in Windclan, and if you could not do it, it meant your Clan going hungry.

Hazelpaw was shocked at first, but then nodded to Dragoneyes. She knew the importance of rabbits to WindClan. Her clan without rabbits was like RiverClan without fish! Hazelpaw eyed the rabbit and dropped into an almost-perfect hunters crouch. She slowly closed the gap between her and the rabbit, breathing steadly. Just then she lost her balance and her tail shot up, catching the rabbits attention. It fled and Hazelpaw frantically chased after it. She knew she would never catch it now, for she saw a hole in the ground, just big enough for a rabbit. She skidded to a stop and watched her food burrow itself underground. "Fox-dung!" she hissed. She looked over at Dragoneyes and Lightpaw. Hazelpaw padded over to them and she hung her head low with embarassment. "I'm sorry Dragoneyes. It's all my fault, I lost a perfectly good meal for the clan." she mewed. I wonder if I'll ever get things right. I'm just getting in the way of the clan. They'd probably be better off without me. Minxpaw and Lightpaw will become great warriors someday...

lilypotter1234 Lightface nodded. "When I was an apprentice, the elder's spoke of a leader. I can't remember his name, but, they said he lived for a moonhigh before he had used his whole nine lives." She paused. "He would go right into a enemy camp by himself, or hunt on another Clan's territory by himself. Even when he had but one life yet, he still wasted it away as he did his 8 others. He was a careless leader, and almost none of his Clan saw him, because he was out trying to attack other Clans." She sighed. "I think I was a kit when he was leader..." She mumured. "Nobody saw him, he was always too busy to stop by camp, or even bring back the prey he had caught. Stolen prey, at that. He left it on the ground, reeking with WindClan. Thank StarClan nobody attacked us." ((Did you just make him up?))
Smallstar snorted at the mention of the leader. "I had just become a warrior when he became leader. He was a mistake if there ever was one. He barely had time to name a deputy before he bolted off to raid the edge of ShadowClan territory." He shook is head in disbelief of the stupidity at that. "Those lives were meant to protect the Clan from attack, not to provoke one. I agree that it was a miracle we weren't attacked." He remembered finding out that he had died. It wasn't surprising as in was embarrassing for WindClan. The next gathering was pitiful.

Lightface nodded. "The medicine cat felt the worst. She was frantic, trying to find the leader and make him stay with his Clan. Sometimes, I forgot he was leader in Windclan..."

Lightpaw sat patiently as Hazelpaw ran after the rabbit. She was calm as she watched Hazelpaw's small fumble. It was no big deal, all she needed was practice. She glanced at Dragoneyes meeting her eyes with a smile. It was a good attempt by Hazelpaw. She was so determined despite having no mentor. When Hazelpaw returned with her head hung low Lightpaw smiled at her and laid her tail on her shoulder in a friendly, reassuring way. She would definitely get it.

"His name was Brownstar," Smallstar remembered. "I don't believe he lived long enough to actually go to a gathering. Skystar, the leader before me as well as my mentor, had to explain everything." Smallstar remembered that night. It was extremely embarrassing and he remembered the looks the other Clans had given them.

Hawkpaw had just strolled back into the medicine cat den in time to hear the tale of Brownstar. Humph... what a waste of nine nines, thought Hawkpaw.

Lightface nodded. "The other Clans...I believe I just became a medcine cat apprentice then. The looks the other apprentices gave us..." She shivered. "When he explained that the leader died, we had to say that he died in a..." She paused. "What was it, Smallstar? I'm pretty sure we didn't tell the truth, because all of the ther Clans would be invading us quicker than a rabbit."

((Hey you guys, I think it's better for me to leave. I'm going to assure my departure with Bridge before I do but just a heads up. I don't want to bog you guys down just because I'm not around to RP as often as I used to.))
Minxpaw slowly laid her head down, feeling a rush of vertigo crawling up from her back legs. Pain nicked her slowly, eating her from the inside out. She made no protest, simply because she couldn't feel it. The cold winds of Leaf bare rubbled ice on her still raw flesh as she remained unmoving. It was a strange sensation, her legs were immobile which proved the reason why she was unable to stand up on her hind legs. As the Doberman had snapped her tail off, it horribly snapped her spine beyond all hopes of repair. Medication was difficult when it came to spinal recovery and to make matter's worse her mending paws were receiving no aid in the freezing winds, her body already abandoning her legs and trying it's best to circulate whatever blood Minxpaw had left flowing. Of course the amount of hemoglobin had nearly tripled during that time but her current movement had caused a splintered bone from one of her ribs to cut her stomach and releasing the acidic bile contained as it burned holes in her vital organs. There were no thoughts at all, as her eyes remained half-lidded, gazing over the sun glazed horizon. Murmurs filled her ears once more, familiar sounding voices. Her mind seethed once more, straining to think through a cloud of darkness. After that, she passed quietly, even unaware of it herself. However, her eyes remained open, her gaze faraway as her departed soul as if her body speaking to purge all ill concerns.

(( Please don't leave! At least let Minxpaw live, or let her join StarClan...I'd even RP her if you can't...Please! You don't have to make her die, it doesn't matter if you wouldn't be on a lot! Please, let her live! Minxpaw was my favorite character!)
Lightface glanced at Minxpaw. "Minxpaw? No..." She ran over, and began to yowl forlornly. "S-She's gone, Smallstar.....to StarClan..." She began to yowl again, and sat down licking Minxpaw carefully.

Smallstar's body went ridged. He looked down at Minxpaw's body, a frail image in death. His tail fell and his eyes reflected his sadness. "Her spine was crooked. She must not have felt it before all of her organs failed," he said quietly. "Hawkpaw!" he called, regaining his normal mentality. Well, almost. "Go out and find Dragoneyes. Now!" he said. She would be devestated. Minxpaw had been a promising apprentice. But she was going to with StarClan now. A true warrior if there ever was one. "We will give her her warrior ceramony," he said even quieter. They would send her spirit to StarClan as the warrior in which she had died being. She had not deserved to die like so.

((I'm here as Mousepelt, the StarClan warrior...in a spiritual form. Smallstar and Lightface are the only ones who have the power to see me! ninja ))
Mousepelt saw what happened from StarClan and raced towards the WindClan camp. She saw her faithful leader and loving medicine cat crowded over Minxpaw's still body. I can't believe it... oh poor Minxpaw! And Dragoneyes! She will be crushed... Mousepelt moved closer to her leader and sat beside him. She placed her spiritual tail on his shoulder. "She was a great cat, but it was her time. She is in a better place, free of suffering. Fear not, my dear friend, Minxpaw will be fine."

Smallstar looked around. "Mousepelt!" he said. "Let us do the ceramony," he said.
"I ask my warrior ancestors to look down upon this apprentice. She has learned the warrior code and has given up her life in the service of her Clan. Let StarClan receive her as a warrior. She will be known as Minxpelt."

Dragoneyes smiled back at Lightpaw, then turned to Hazelpaw. "You did very well. I've always thought Windclan has had it hardest, always having to catch these speedy rabbits." Dragoneyes chuckled.
Suddenly, she stiffened. Something was wrong back at camp, her instincts told her. She shook her head to clear it, and looked around for another rabbit to chase, ignoring the horrible feeling.

Hawkpaw obeyed his leaders oders. Running out of the camp with tears in his eyes he tried to find Dragoneyes's scent trail. Eventually he picked up the scent and followed it quickly. Hawkpaw caught sight of Dragoneyes and slowed down walking over to him slowly. Hawkpaw came up behind him and made a grunting sound, "Smallstar wants you to come back to camp immediantly" said Hawkpaw with tears still in his eyes. This was so very unlike him, to get emotional, he had become closer to Minxpaw over the past few days. Was this what it felt like to be a medicine cat?
