As the beast approached the group, Nemoralis finally got a little better, and was able to sit up. She inmediatly drank from the glass that was in her hand. Her mind was clear, but her body was still taking its time to respond; she still had much to do before she could be of help

((OH, NO! I haven't been on in four days! sorry, guys sweatdrop (you may laugh at me for thinking it's a big deal, but i haven't even touched my computer in those four days) ))

James took into full perspective the massive beast that was coming their way. It seemed almost like a gorilla, but somehow larger. It's gigantic muscles with each step it took towards them. At about one hundred feet, it stopped and raised its head to let out an enormous bellow. When it was through, it lowered its tusked face to the ground, sniffing for them. Obviously, this monster couldn't see them, otherwise it would've charged them or something by now. Luque walked over to James and tapped him on the shoulder. "Um... James?" James didn't even look behind him. "Think we can take this thing, Luque?" Luque cleared his throat. "It can't be that bad," James said. Luque sighed. "I can't see it." James spun around to face him. "What!?" "No matter what I use to see, this beast only shows up in one way, and we both know that way won't help." James knew the kind of sight that Luque was speaking of. He'd thought they'd had a chance at fighting it, but now it seemed hopeless. He looked back at the beast. He estimated it at about twenty feet tall and thirty feet long. Around each arm was at least four feet. This beast was incredible, unlike anything they'd seen before. James sighed and turned to Daniel. "You think you can pull a shield off?" Daniel seemed ashamed. "After last night, I'm still a little worn out, but I can try." They nodded and Daniel stood. He held his hands above him and closed his eyes, focusing. A yellow sphere erupted from his hands, spilling out around him, Sid, James, and Luque, then stopped. "Danny, we need more." Daniel smiled uncomfortably and closed his eyes tighter. The shield wavered, then dissipated into nothingness. "That's all I can get," he said, ashamed once again.
Throughout this small ordeal, the beast's luck was changing. At first, he had to sniff for them, trying to get a scent, but as Daniel used his shield, the monster looked up. He looked directly at Daniel and his shield. The monster practically smiled in delight. But as the shield faded, so did his pride.
James saw this and a wave of terror fell over him. "Guys...Um...He only sees our powers."

Isaac stepped up beside James, "That's actually a pro. Use guerilla tactics. In truth it would be best to leave the shield down, blind him in theory." "Besides, this thing has tons of fur... Good for burning." Isaac smiled before he started to work his way towards the beast slowly. Those that cannot see often develop other methods of sensing their surroundings.

Nemoralis watched as the beast came and her senses froze inmediatly.
Ring, what can I do? That beast can sense magic, and my magic cannot harm it.Then what can we do?
The last thought was broad casted. Such was her panic. She spotted James, and leaving Alwyn and Kazeh there, she went to him. I need some one who can be responsible enough to handle a power of great magnitude. I am afraid that after I do this, I will be gone. Then what will be left of me? What will happen to the one you bestow those powers to? It depends on the physical condition fo that person.
Nemoralis took hold of James arm, she was terribly afraid for them all.
If that person is used to strains, that person will survive and might even help to keep me alive, so to speak. I wouldn't be able to grant you more wishes for a while. I shall risk my life if necessary. Because of the aline intrusion on your head, I cannot grant you such powers, for that alien force might get hold of them. I wish for you to not grant this alien force more power than what it has already.
Nemoralis could hear a sigh from her head, a sigh of releif and felt an unheard thought of 'finally a worthy wish.'
Is not that, little one, is the fact that I am surprised that out intruder hadn't ask for that before. So who is to get the power to defeat this beast? This power, is for you to handle. Its part of your innate power, is also part of my power. We must decide together.
Right then, Nemoralis realized that she was clinging to James for her dear life, and knew that he was one that she would trust without doubt to hold the power the ring spoke about.
James.... I agree with the candidate, and if there is no other one in your mind, you must ask him if he will take this gift. I shall ask him now. Wait. You must understand this. I am taking part of your power, but he will receive my power entirely. I might remain trap inside of him until his soul is released. That means that you will no longer protect me? What if I wish for you to come back to me? I am sorry, I might be able to grant you a wish or two at the time, but the ultimate choice to allow me to go is your and his, you must tell him this. Yes...
With tears in her eyes, Nemoralis turned to James, and whispher at his ear, "there is a power that my ring is willing to give you. Should you accept it and use it with care, I shall grant it to you. But the esscence of my ring would remain in you." Nemoralis left his ear to look at him, to see if he understood.
The protective charm over your ring will never disapear. You have done the wastelands and me, and eternal favor. Shoudl he accept, you shall see me when you look into his eyes. I wish to be the only one to ever see you in his eyes. So it shall be then.
"What do you say James? Save us all at the cost of your mind? Your mind will be invaded by an alien prescence, but I assure you, the ring's presence will never take full control of your body. It has never done so to me. It shall advice you, and will grant you wishes." Nemoralis looked at the monster, then back at James. "The protection in my charm will never leave it, and I might not always get my wishes granted. You wishes will probably come without limits. You will most likely earn the ability to speak to different mind. I know I am capable of doing that, now, to a lower degree, because of the ring. You might get that as well." Nemoralis eyes showed him the hope that she wished for. If he indeed took the power, she would no longer fear that the alien presence in her mind might wish for something like this, not any more. If he does agree, only to my mind presence you shall grant wishes, not this alien presence. Granted.

"Wait, be careful!" she said in a hoarse whisper, not sure if she should be quiet or yell. After all this time in the Wasteland, she had yet to face such an opposing danger. She trembled with fear. "Something about this doesn't feel right. I just... I don't want anyone getting hurt from acting too quickly!"

Kazeh let go of her head; she was used to it by now, and it was only a continuous drone at this point. I'm just glad there's only one. Otherwise, this would be a lot worse. Why does this happen when they are around? What are these things anyway?!

((does everyone control the monster, or just Hephaestus?))

((hm...tough decision. i'm going to have to say that we all perspectively control the beast. we're gonna fight it, so we all just say stuff like 'aw, it hit me. aw, i hit it', you know. just keep in mind that this is a major bad, and won't be killed in one or two posts. try to keep this battle going as long as possible. use reasonable judgement to decide when it's best for the monster to die. I WILL NOT BE THE ONE TO KILL IT, so keep in mind when you guys think it's right.
wow, enough ooc?))

James looked Nemoralis in the eyes, deciding about her offer. Hearing Kazeh, he sighed and looked at the ground. The beast was shuffling closer, but slowly. For now, it wasn't much of a threat, but if any of them used their powers, the beast would surely kill them all. But here was Nemoralis, offering the ability to defeat this creature. He didn't want his new friends to die. Sighing again, he looked back and Nemoralis and nodded. "Do it," he said.

The man fell to his knees and screamed. He was so hungry. He was so thirsty. He needed something. He sat for a moment and breathed deeply. Once he had a grip on himself once more, he stood. Closing his eyes, he began running once more. As long as he kept running, he'd get somewhere. He'd have to find something.
He was sent to the ground by an unseen force. He skidded across the dirt, leaving a dust cloud behind him. Looking up, he saw nothing. Slowly, a shape appeared in the air. Long red hair and green eyes.
"You," he growled. She smiled and looked at him mischieviously ((sp?)). She nodded and walked around him, eyeing him up and down. Finally, she spoke. "I have something for you," she said. "And I'm sure you want it. The question is, are you willing to take it?" She waited for an answer, but there was none. "I'm offering you a chance at life. I could leave you here to die, which you surely would, or I could help you." Again, she waited for a response, and again, none came. "But if I help you, you'd owe me." She knelt down and got close to his face. "Are you willing to take my help? Or are you too proud?" They locked eye contact for several mintues, but finally, he looked away and nodded. Smiling once more, she stood and held her hand out. A tree sprouted from the ground and up to her hand, dropping a luscious fruit into her palm. "Do you know what this is?" she asked. He didn't answer. "I don't know much about Greek mythology, but I do know about one story that always stuck in my mind." She knelt in front of him again and ripped the fruit apart, showing hundreds of little seeds, surrounded by their own bit of maroon flesh. "Persephone, the daughter of Demeter, was taken to the underworld by Hades. She would've been able to get out, except that she ate six seeds from a fruit." She plucked six seeds from the fruit and fed them to him one by one. "This fruit bound her to the underworld. Granted for only six months a year, but still." She stood and tossed the fruit over her shoulder. "The symbolism's the same." She held out her hand and he took it, standing himself up. They started to leave, but she stopped him and grabbed his throat. "You are my lackey. I saved your a**, now you do what I say, no questions asked. Got it?" Losing air, he quickly nodded. She paused, confirming in her mind his dedication. Smiling, she let go. "Good. Let's get started." She placed a hand on his shoulder and they vanished, leaving the pomegranet tree behind.

((sorry for the long post.))

What are these things anyway?! What are these things anyway?! What are these things anyway?!...

The monster twitched, and immediately she knew what she had done. No, no, no! she thought, but that only made it worse. She was losing control, not that she had much control in the first place. But, for some reason, it was as if she had even less control than before.

Seemingly eager for the smallest impulse, the creature lurched at Kazeh's direction, slamming a mammoth fist at the ground, causing the whole ground to shake slightly. "Ah!" Kazeh tripped backwards at the last second onto her rear, the blow missing her by only mere inches. She scrambled backwards as fast as she could, panting strongly, her heart beating faster than every before.

((ill try not to abuse of the priviledge))

Nemoralis saw Kazeh go down, and she looked at James again. "James, do you understand the position that you are getting yourself into? The dangers?" She lowered her voice to a whisper. "I have to tell you, I'll miss the ring." A tear went down her face. James took it from her cheek, and lifted her chin so that she could see him.
"I realize the consequences, I am ready for them." With that, Nemoralis gave a small sigh of relief and one of dread.
"Take my hands James, and close your eyes, and open your mind..."
James, you and I, might become one with this, do you accept this? Yes. Then so be it...
Nemoralis felt herself going low on energy again, and she fell to her knees, a glass of water appeared in her hands. She quickly drank it, and when she looked at James again, he saw also the shadow of another man. She gave a mute cry that called the attention of the monster, for her mind was ringing with pain, calling the beat to her. The pain of having part of herself withdraw was causing her torment and pain. It wasn't the ring, for the ring hadn't taken shelter on her mind, but the fact that the ring was taking part of her energy. Part of her was going to both, James, and the one who 'sleeps' in her ring.

(That's no fun. At least make him dance funny or something.)

Isaac sprinted up behind the beastie, hands aflame. "Watch what you're doing!" He streaked his hand across its back and head before sailing past it, flames disappearing. It flailed in rage and made for the spot it saw Isaac last. Hand grenading at him, (Palm extended and like a slap, but feels like a massive punch) he jumped it and almost tripped on the landing. It followed up with a couple of slams and screamed as Isaac launched a fireball at its head.

((i'm baaaaaaaaack. but only for tonight. i leave again tomorrow morning. sheesh. it's okay, i get back on saturday night))

James was thrown to the ground, the wind knocked out of him by the surge of power bursting through him. He tried to stand, but his vision became cloudy. His mind was slowing down, it was harder to think. Soon, he was being pushed from his body by an unseen force. His face hit the ground and the world went dark.
He opened his eyes, awareness rushing to him. He was in a room. A dark room. He couldn't see anything, just darkness. He heard footsteps, like they were walking down a long hall. Finally, he saw. The room wasn't dark at all, he was just in an empty black void. How secure he was now that he knew he wasn't in shadows. Wait a minute. A dark void? That can't be right. He was in The Wasteland! The footsteps came closer, and the figure whom they belonged started to clear in James' vision. "HEY!" he called towards him. The man did not respond. James called again. Still no reply from the man. As he got closer, James could start to make out what the man looked like. He was tall, well over six feet, with a bald head and dark chocolate skin. His vibrant blue eyes shone bright in the empty blackness around the two. He wore a bright red robe and had many turguoise colored tattoes marking his body. He kept walking, his bare feet padding softly against what could only be invisible floor. Finally, the man was directly in front of James. He had to tilt his up just to get a good look at his face. He looked so familiar, as though he'd known the man all his life. The man spoke, startling James. "You are James?" the man asked. James nodded. The man scoffed at him and looked around. "And this is where you live?" he asked. He clicked his tongue and shook his head. "Hey!" James said. "I'll have you know that I don't live here!" The man looked confused. "This is your mind, is it not?" James looked around once again. "It is?" The man smiled and sighed. "I guess you don't come in her often." Before James could respond, the man had turned away from him and started waving his arms, as though gesturing for something. His movements were so familiar, wavy and strong at the same time. James couldn't put his finger on where he'd seen the man before, or at least someone that looked a lot like him. After a while, the man stopped and turned back to James. "Nemoralis sent me in here," he said. James looked confused. "From her ring?" The man started to pace. "And from the looks of it, I'll be very comfortable in here." The man waved his arm again and an enormous scythe emerged from the ground, coming up to his hands. He grasped it and swung it once, then looked back to James. "The power of the imagination is incredible," he said. "Let's see how a mind copes with battling another mind." The man squng the scythe at James, cutting him across the gut. James fell to the ground, his insides exposed to the cool emptiness around him. As the man stood over him, smiling, it dawned on him why he was so familiar. "Attia?" he managed to ask. The man sneered and raised his scythe, bringing it down on James' face, knocking him unconcious. "You must know my daughter," the man said. He spat at the thought of her and turned. The scythe disappeared and he then summoned up a giant moniter. On it, was just black, like everything else. "Arise," he murmured. The screen split up and down from the middle, revealing a sideways horizon. "Stand," he whispered. The image once again changed, moving up wards and tilting until it was at the right angle. "Turn," the man said. The view changed, and he could see James' friends, all watching in anticipation. He could then see the giant beast, sniffing out for their powers. The man smiled and whispered one last word: "Attack."

((and you don't have to read all that. mostly, now, there will be a lot of fight scenes that i write. i will indicate a fight by <>, just so you know you don't have to read it. (i'm sure they'd all be pretty wall-ish.)))
