"Guess that's that then. So, anything interesting going on in the news?"

The nightly news ends without so much as a peep about Team Aqua. Steven was right: They're not showing anything about the HNG raid last week.

"Well, I have some business to take care of. Skitty, Xatu!"
I stand up and my two pokemon come to me.

"Be sure and clear some time this Sunday. I wish I could come help, but I'm afraid you'll have to bust the LBG without me."
*Teleports out with Xatu and Skitty*

MISSION- Mining in Granite Cave
Any Team Aqua member is asked to go to Granite Cave and get one of the rare stones (Fire Stone, Water Stone, Leaf Stone, Thunderstone, Moon Stone, Sun Stone) that are in it. But watch out for Steven.

Cody headed off to the mission board once more. He hadn’t done a mission in what felt like forever, but was feeling kind of risky. Even though he was very rusty he chose to do a level 2 mission just to try his luck. Cody ran up to his room and grabbed his Totodile and Treecko. It was getting to be early evening and the sun was starting to set. Cody hopped on his bike and headed toward Petalburg City. He was headed to his friend’s house that lived on the outskirts of the city. It didn’t take him too long to get there. His friend was a generous man and a professional sailor. Cody rode down the path toward the shack. When he got there he realized it looked older and more beaten up then the last time he was here. Cody walked up to the door and knocked a few times. When the door finally opened an old man appeared. He was bent over and had a cane. “Jeez old timer. You look worse and worse every time I visit you.” Cody laughed.

“Eh, you know me. I’m getting older and older by the second.” He said. “I know why you’re here.” He handed me the keys to his boat. “Just got her polished and the paint redone. She looks great.”

“Thanks.” Cody replied. “I will try to bring her back in one piece.” Cody walked down the dock and unbuttoned the cover revealing a beautiful red and white boat. He balled up the cover and tossed it aside. He figured it would be there when he got back. Cody started the boat and gave it a minute to warm up. He revved the engine a couple times before taking off. It was fast. He loved the feeling of speed. Totodile and Treecko popped out of their pokeballs and celebrated. Apparently they loved the feeling as much as he did. After the sun had gone down they arrived in Dewford. It was very quiet. Cody could see lights from houses, streetlights, buildings, and most importantly the Pokemon Gym. It brought back memories. He had no time for his wonderful recollections of how things used to be when he first started out as a trainer. He had traveled the world and collected lots of gym badges with his trusty Arcanine and Raichu by his side. But all that was gone now. It had been taken away a long time ago. Everything he knew had been taken away. But that wasn’t important now. He had a new life and new friends. Cody turned the key and pulled it out of the ignition. He put it in his pocket and hopped out of the boat. The air was chilly but not cold. The humidity was high. He could feel it. The air was damp and muggy. Totodile and Treecko followed him out of the boat before being returned to their pokeballs. “Sorry guys. It’s what I have to do.” Cody said.

He knew they didn’t like it but they would have to get over it. They would be let out as soon as they got home. Cody started down the road. He looked all around as he headed through the town. Flashing billboard signs and advertisements announcing the grand opening of this or the introduction to that. It was all pointless to him. “If someone wants to come to see your shop or whatever, they don’t need phony advertisements to lure them in.” Cody said to himself.

Plusle poked his head out of Cody’s backpack and poked him on the head before returning to his original hiding place. Cody sat his backpack down fully expecting Plusle to pop out and jump at him. He waited but nothing happened. Finally he reached into the opening and Plusle jumped and latched onto his face. Cody pulled him off and sat him on the ground. “I knew you were there the whole time smart aleck.” Cody laughed and continued down the road with Plusle at his side.

As they walked they eventually reached the entrance to Granite Cave. Cody accelerated his pace from a quick walk to a slow jog. As he entered the cave he was amazed at how many Pokemon he saw. There were tons he never even knew existed in this area. As he walked many different types of Pokemon passed him. From small Arons and Mawiles to flying Zubats and Sableyes that scaled the walls. It was amazing. As he explored the cave he saw tons of minerals. Heart scales, gems, fossils, and even rare stones stuck out and seemed to shine to catch his attention. Cody continued through the cave and two Arons popped out of nowhere. Normally Totodile would be sent out to deal with them both but Treecko needed some training as well so he sent them both into battle.

Treecko attacked first with Bullet Seed. It was a move we had been working on for a while and he finally got it down. Then Totodile attacked with a Water gun. One of the Arons used Iron Defense to weaken the power of Bullet Seed and the other Aron dodged and attacked with Headbutt. Treecko was disappointed but still kept up his fighting spirit while Totodile was hit with the powerful attack. Treecko ran up to one of the Arons and grabbed it. Treecko used Absorb and almost knocked the Aron out while Totodile attacked one more time with Water Gun. The other Aron received the attack and came back with another Headbutt. Totodile dodged the attack this time. The other Aron used Growl on Treecko. Even though his next attack would be weaker it should still be enough to knock out one of the Arons. He jumped high in the air and came down with a very powerful Pound attack. The Aron collapsed in defeat as Totodile delivered the finishing blow to its pal. With both finished off Cody returned both Pokemon to their pokeballs and continued on his way.

With all of the commotion going on it aroused all of the sleeping Zubats and they flew through an entrance to another part of the cave. Cody followed the path of the Zubats in the opposite direction and came to the opening. It was small but it lead into a huge cavern. In the middle of the room was a huge pile of stones of all shapes, colors, and types. A man and his Pokemon were guarding the pile. Cody immediately recognized the man as Steven of the Pokemon League and his faithful Metagross. Cody stuck his hand in the pocket of his jacket and realized he still had one of the watches Ike had given him from the time they went to the Safari Zone. He pulled it out and put it on his right wrist then hit the button. Cody snuck into the room quietly. Metagross looked up but saw nothing. Cody took a Fire Stone from the pile and stuck it in his pocket. He snuck out of the cave and headed towards the dock. Luckily no one was on the street when his battery wore off and he became visible once more.

He continued toward the dock. He was running now. Cody didn’t know if Steven had realized he was there or not. He just wanted out of that town and off that island. He hopped in the boat and sped off toward Petalburg’s quiet suburb. After realizing the potential danger he could be in Cody accelerated to full speed and didn’t stop until he reached the dock where he had started. He recovered the boat and slid into the house. The old man was sleeping with his Wingull so Cody dropped the key on the table and headed for home.

((For this being my first time in a long time doing missions I think I did ok...))

Maddy looks back down at Cody. "Yeah, I wish I had something to do..."

"What do you mean? Don't like the ceiling?" She reaches down and pokes Cody with a smirk.

"Well the ceiling here is a bit high so it's only natural you can't jump up and get me. Maybe you should develop some partially psychic powers so you can defy gravity like I can." She balls up a piece of paper and flicks it at his head.

Cody walks in and sees Brian reading his mission. "Cool. At least this time it won't get ignored for like three days."
