Would someone kindly fill me in on why Superboy dropped the pretty cool name of Connor in favor of "Carl?"

Jack of the Tales Would someone kindly fill me in on why Superboy dropped the pretty cool name of Connor in favor of "Carl?" Connor was banned. Carl wasn't. They're 2 seperate handlers.
