The door opened rapidly on the second knock, the third lightly tapping the Gym Leader on the forehead. "Yeah?" Bugsy inquired, raising one eyebrow, not looking entirely pleased to see them, but far less upset than he was last night. The small boy wore short cut off jeans and a light colored tee shirt. Stained with grass from head to toe, Bugsy had spent all night with his Pokemon clearing out the Gym. In the distance, his Heracross was hauling off logs and sticks from the 'wreckage' the night before. "Truth be told," The purple haired boy said, planting his hands on his hips and letting out a sharp breath. "the remodeling went better than expected. While I may not have wanted to spend my entire night without sleep, I can't argue with the results." A smile slipped through his face.

Keegan just laughed and held onto her, not wanting to let go. "Ah, I see," he nodded, glancing at the islands, and looking over Kasiya's shoulder at the volcano in the horizon. "Won't be long now."

"Don't worry about Hiro," he said, gently squeezing her shoulder. "He'll be just fine. Besides, he'll be missing you too so you know he's sure to rest up and get better so he can see you again." He hoped he was being reassuring enough, as it was difficult being separated from a Pokemon, especially one you'd spent so much time with. The feeling of her soft hand resting in his was oddly comforting, and he lightly kissed her head as she leaned against him. It was silent for a few moments, and they watched the lovely scenery pass by them for a few moments before Keegan thought of something else.

"The woman - Sheridan - also gave me these," he said, taking the two gala tickets from his pocket to show Kasiya. "These are for a prestigious gathering of breeders to be held in Lilycove City a day after the Slateport Beach Party," he told her, gripping them tightly so they weren't caught up by the wind. "And well, I was wondering if you'd like to be my plus one," he said, blushing a bit. "It's a big fancy to-do, so we'd have to get all dressed up and such." He smiled a bit, already imagining in his mind how nice it would be to hold her in his arms and dance the night away. His parents had taught him how to dance when he was younger, so luckily that was one thing he wouldn't have to worry about. "So what do you say?"

Keegan's words were indeed comforting, and Kasiya closed her eyes and enjoyed his presence. Even though she wasn't the one who was fearful of water, she felt incredibly safe as he held her, and as Cinnabar Island grew larger and larger on the horizon, she had a longing for the boat ride to last a bit longer so this moment could linger.

She opened her eyes as he pulled out the tickets, and she eyed them curiously for a moment. "Oh, you mean like a ball?" she asked, imagining what it would be like to dress up in an elegant, gorgeous gown just like Cinderella and spend the evening dancing with her prince charming. She had to think about it for a moment, but soon realized that by 'plus one' Keegan had meant for her to be his date. She turned to face him, and nodded. "It sounds absolutely wonderful," she said, hugging him again. She knew that she didn't have anything really extravagant to wear to such an event, but perhaps if she asked her parents they might be willing to help her out. "I can't wait," she said dreamily, looking up into his green eyes and smiling again. "I also can't wait to see you all dressed up," she added playfully.

By now, Cinnabar was very close, and the island's details were more plainly viewable. It looked like a pleasant place to spend some time, and Kasiya silently wished she'd thought to come here a lot sooner.

Mary-Anne had taken to Ky's side, her long legs carrying her with easy grace; she really was fairly tall, she found herself musing idly, looking around at Ky and the people they passed. After her brother, M.A. had been the second tallest of her family; she used to tease her father about being able to see the top of his balding dome. A fond feeling swept through her being, allowing her to skip over her anxiousness of meeting Bugsy again; there was a tinge of homesickness, but it wasn't overwhelming anymore. She wasn't lonely, after all -- she had her beloved Daemyn in her arms and a good friend by her side, so how could she be?

As they neared the place, however, she could feel their pace slowing quite considerably. The dread fell like a rock in her stoumach again, and her ever-present, day-dreamy smile seem to falter before it disappeared altogether into a more serious expression. That face didn't really suit her for those who were accustomed to her brightness, but she couldn't help that now -- she really was nervous and guilty.

When the door opened, M.A. could see over Bugsy's head the work going on and the work already finished. In the daylight, with her awareness level far higher than it had been the previous night, she could see that the mess had actually been a good deal more than she had remembered it. From the looks of it, Bugsy also looked pretty tired; his statement of staying up all night simply made the fact concrete. "Ah. . . we're really, really sorry," she gushed suddenly and earnestly, her palms in front of her with her fingers interlacing then unlocking then interlacing again. "We didn't mean to give you so much trouble. . . Is there anything we can do to make it up?" Although she said 'we,' from the tone of it, she was speaking more on her part then anything. After all, the whole scenario had started with her entering Bugsy's Gym when it was closed, anyways, and Daemyn had been her responsibility.

Whitney smiled a tad, waving to Mike for a second or so. "Nice to see you again Mike, Kilik." Her eyes darted from one boy to the other, then to her sister, and back to Rio, whom she recalled a few moments later. He remembered my name, holy crap. She turned her head as she felt herself redden.

Taking Mike's hand and shaking it, the boy smiled. "Yep, that'd be me! And taking clue from Whitney, I take it you're Mike?" His eyes darted off to Kilik-- Kilik; I think I remember him. Withdrawing his hand back after a few moments, he stated, "A breeder? Nah, not me. I don't know if I'm a person with enough patience to breed Pokemon. I'm a trainer, but to be frank it's been awhile since I've had a battle that wasn't somehow related to a man who was centuries old. What about you, Mike? Which are you?"
"Mike's trainer, and a good one at that," Whitney stated, walking toward the group but seeming to keep her distance from the boy. If anything, she wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Mike wasn't a bit skittish around her, from what had happened that day.
"Ah, I see. Got a favorite from the ones you're training?"

Whitney crossed her arms and looked off to the side briefly, before wandering over to Nina and Kilik. "So. Care to tell me exactly why you dragged the both of us out of bed to come back here?"
"I'd already told you why," Nina replied. "Think about it, Whitney. Maorde never came around unless one or both of you were with me. Why do you think that is? Maybe he... I don't know, maybe he's just using me to get close to you two?"
Whitney looked at her sister blankly. "Do you even hear yourself?" She rolled her eyes, wondering how such an intelligent girl could jump to such conclusions on such little reasoning to go by.

Kilik was rather shocked at Whitney's acknowledgement of his existance. Their last meeting hadn't exactly been a good one. He smiled at both of them, giving a very casual wave to the two. His eye caught with Raimundo's and he felt his lower lip twitch a bit. He didn't say much, but simply slipped both of his hands into his pockets and glanced over his shoulder at the Gym, wondering when Giovanni would make his appearance. He blinked back into reality when Whitney approached him and Nina.

"She has a point, Whitney," he said quietly, "Maorde's working in a very strange manner and not a single one of us knows what runs through his mind. It's obvious as to why he captured Anna. It's obvious as to what he wants," he shook his head a few times, "But it's a question as to why he would even bother coming after Nina if the two of you were with her. Wouldn't it make more sense to attack someone if their alone and vulnerable?" He took a look over at Nina then back at Whitney.

Keegan laughed at her last comment, glancing at the island they were approaching. "Yeah, I guess it would be nice to be all fancy for an evening." He nodded, relieved that she'd accepted the invitation. It was turning out to be a fairly good day for him, and he put his arm around Kasiya's shoulders and watched the ferry approach the docking station. "Thank goodness," he mumbled, watching the sailors get to work. It took very little time for the lot of them to set up the boarding plank, and soon passengers began to file from the watercraft, chattering to themselves quietly.

"I guess we should follow suit," Keegan nodded. "Is there a Pokemon Center on this island?" he asked, carefully making his own way down the what he thought was a rather flimsy board separating them from a fall into the cold ocean waters. "I should get Artemis and Althena healed up after that battle." He glanced around, looking up at the tall volcano that seemed to make up the majority of the island. He also started to wonder where Kasiya had wanted to go for all that training, seeing as it wasn't an overly large place and he wasn't sure where so many wild Pokemon would gather in a single place.

It didn’t take long from that point on for Miharu and Sparkle to reach their next destination. The path that had previously been blockaded by the Sudowoodo lead them right to the entrance of the National Park, while another route would lead them through a grassy, forest-like area. Miharu decided to go into the park for now, and she and Sparkle went through the gatehouse without incident before finding themselves in a breathtaking field. There were trainers and their Pokemon scattered all over the place; some were battling, others were just out for a casual stroll. Right in the center of the park, a magnificent fountain could be seen spewing water from every angle, and as Miharu and Sparkle made their way further into the park, they could see that many water type Pokemon seemed to be happy to make it a temporary resting place.

The duo hadn’t taken very many steps after spotting the fountain when a small, tawny blur came out of nowhere and crashed into Sparkle’s side. The Mareep cried out fearfully, looking around for the ambusher. Movement in the grass caught both Miharu and Sparkle’s attention, and at the same time they realized that a Pidgey had bombarded them. The small bird was screeching at them angrily, and Miharu couldn’t help but wonder what was wrong with the tiny bird. “Sparkle… we should get away from it,” she said, already backing away in case they were encroaching on the Pokemon’s territory or something, but Sparkle would have none of that. How dare that tiny interloper sneak attack her like that? Bleating angrily, the electric sheep lowered her head and charged the tawny bird, sending it for a loop as her Tackle attack made direct contact.

"That, my new friend, will be left for when we battle." Mike said with a playful wink. "Let's just say I have a preferred Pokemon type above all others." He pointed to his attire, and smiled. Following his small conversation with Rai, the boy then turned to Nina and Kilik's points on the current situation. A thought sparked in his head when his tall friend finished speaking.

"Well, Kilik, I think you just answered your own question." Mike pointed out, interjecting into the conversation and walking into the middle of the group. "It's quite simple actually. Say I'm Maorde. If someone like Nina has two faithful friends such as Rai and Whitney, that would pose a problem. One, because no matter how strong you are, being outnumbered is never a tactic you want to have against you. Two, it's a lot easier snagging/killing one kid than it is trying to make three disappear." He let out a sharp exhale, all this fast talking sometimes made him forget to breathe. "Thirdly, if we're dealing with a target like Nina, whom he knows cares for the safety and well being of those she loves, than it's only natural to expect that she would think of herself like a magnet for trouble, and separate herself from them in order to protect them. If it were me, that would be the perfect opportunity to take out the only remaining obstacles in the way of me snagging my true prize." Another breath.

"Now, I might just be blowing smoke like a retarded Torkoal, but I'd suggest that from now on, we stick together in a large group." Mike interlocked his hands. "That way, this old flunky would have to deal with five trainers at once were he to strike us head on." The boy twirled Nitro's Pokeball on his finger, then snatched it, a smirk rising on his lips. "I'd say that's a pretty good plan, you?"
PostPosted: Mon Aug 13, 2007 1:43 pm

Kilik took in Mike's words and raised an eyebrow. When he opened his mouth to say something, he was cut off by the sound of an electronic door. He looked over his shoulder to see a man walking out of the Viridian City Gym. Taking his hands out of his pockets, Kilik dropped them limply to his sides. "I think we'll make that a total of five trainers," he looked over at Mike again, "And one criminal mastermind."

Giovanni placed himself between Kilik and Nina, his hands clamped behind his back. His sharp eyes glared down at Whitney and Rai, and gave a quick passing glance to Mike. The leader cleared his throat. "I take it that the five of you have been discussing what you are to do?" he asked, "Instead of wasting time with idle chit-chat?" He stepped away, moving through the group to the other side, standing with his back to them. "Take the Pokeball of your strongest Pokemon. Have it ready for when he arrives," Giovanni lowered his head, "Every second spent to grab the Pokeball in battle could be the difference."

Kilik nodded, then ran his fingers over his belt. Which one was his strongest? There was Lairon, who was very fierce, but Scizor managed to pack quite a punch. Knowing the uncontrollable Lairon would do more harm than good, the boy snagged the Park Ball from his belt and clutched it in his hand.

"Ha. My strongest one, Giovanni? That seems to be conveniently resting with the psychopath at this very moment." Nina forced a laugh, before shutting up entirely. Looking down to the Pokeballs that she did have with her, Nina spotted Krystal's Ultra Ball-- she was, after all, Nina's second strongest. But then again, Oracle had immeasureable psychic powers that may even cause Maorde to shudder.

Well, on the inside anyway.

Deciding against using Sabrina's Pokemon, she snatched up Krystal's ball in her hand. Oracle could be her reserve in case Krystal was taken out.

Krystal, eh? Whitney thought, spotting the Ultra Ball. Good choice... but, what's my strongest? Castform isn't exactly strong, but he could certainly be a good distraction. But, Ursaring's really powerful; he could probably crush anything with Return. Then, there was a pause. Whitney unclipped a Pokeball from her belt, deciding on her trademark Pokemon. "Made my choice," she said.

"Well, I suppose I'll be choosing Fearow, then," Rai chimed in. "He's certainly the fastest Pokemon on my team, and he's got a very nice attacking ability. Hopefully, he'd be able to swoop in and attack faster than Maorde knows what's going on."

Nina nodded. "All right. We're set-- what about you, Mike? Giovanni?"
PostPosted: Mon Aug 13, 2007 2:15 pm

"Pheh." Mike replied to Nina's question, smugly waving his friend off as if she could read his mind for the answer. Wait, she can. DUR! The boy thought to himself, chuckling at his own idiocy. "Who do you think Nina?" casually tossing his hair to the side with a flip of his head, the boy released his pride and joy: Nitro.

The Pokemon's initial reaction to the mixed crowd was that of confusion, he hadn't seen some of them before. Who was the pink haired chick and the squirt? Surveying the people he saw Nina and Kilik, he nodded to both of them. It was then that his eyes met Giovanni's. Those cold and sinister eyes made his blood boil. The flame on his tail kicked up, burning with a near blue consistency. Narrowing his eyes, the Charizard seriously considered cooking him on the spot, but his trainer's out of place easiness with the nexus of evil standing no less than ten feet from him caused him to reconsider. Nitro moved behind Mike, keeping a steady eye on Giovanni.

"He's a good boy, just a bit hot headed." Mike smiled, giving the Pokemon a hug.

Giovanni didn't budge at the sight of the lizard, but merely shrugged his shoulders. A light laugh escaped him. "I never thought of it till now, but your Charizard and I have good taste in color," he looked over at Mike then decided to answer Nina's question. Taking an Ultra Ball from his belt, the man tossed it up into the air. From it came a bright flash of light and a rather large green dinosaur. A purple diamond shape was embedded in the center of the beast, and its eyes were just as cold and unloving as Giovanni's. The Tyranitar looked over at his trainer then at the other large beast that was Mike's Charizard. He stared at the dragon for a moment then huffed.

Kilik gulped. He never knew exactly what Giovanni had up his sleeve and seeing that Tyranitar was quite a show. He tossed up Scizor's ball and let the bug show itself. Coming in in her usual sparkle and flashes of light, the green Scizor stood next to her trainer with her arms crossed across her chest. She glared at Mike then around at the other trainers and Pokemon, her body giving a light twitch at the sight of Charizard. Kilik nodded. It was an elation to know that the six of them were working together.
PostPosted: Mon Aug 13, 2007 2:45 pm

Nina did feel a bit stupid for asking Mike what his choice of Pokemon would be-- it was unquestionable that the Charizard was bursting with power. And, at seeing the Tyrannitar released from Giovanni's Pokeball, she wasn't too surprised. She had always envisioned that the man was fond of more ferocious creatures.

"Well," she said, looking around to the three Pokemon that had already been released, "it certainly is a change for the lot of us to be fighting for the same cause. No matter what the outcome, I want to thank all of you for aiding me in my darkest hour. It-- I really do appreciate it, and just because--"

"Nina, shut up." Whitney horizontally extended an arm out in front of the girl's chest, and she listened intently.
"What's wr--"
"Shut up for a second." It sounded like a stomping noise, and kept gradually getting just a decibel or two louder every now and then, but... it seemed to be coming from the air. Was it the time?

...p... ap... lap... Flap... flap... flap! A thunderous noise was coming from a pair of wings flapping together as the Pokemon they belonged to flew through the air. As it drew closer, the Pokemon came into view. And so did the person sitting atop it. Maorde descended upon the ground, the wind generated from his Salamence's wings blasting along the grass, causing each and every single blade to dance in its fury. Salamence landed suspiciously gracefully for a Pokemon of its size, and Maorde slipped off its back. He had a terrible expression on his face as he walked forward, crossing his eyes and glancing to and fro' each and every trainer that was present.

"Well. It seems as if there is a new face in the crowd today," he said, glancing to Mike. "I am Maorde Menskr, and you are insignificant. It's pleasant to make your acquaintance."

Mike said nothing, but extended his arm outward, portraying an ever prim and proper one fingered salute. "Greetings!" The boy said with nothing short of joyous exuberance. "You must be the old bag of bones everyone's been fretting about." He cocked an eyebrow to the side, nodding with a smirk to Nitro. "Can't say I disagree with your taste in Pokemon though, that Salamance is a beaut!" Mike let out a sharp whistle, admiring the dragon's commanding presence.
