Eccentric Iconoclast Hawk_McKrakken Eccentric Iconoclast Nope, I just have to walk 2.5 miles with a 40LB backpack. Then, when I'm done, I have to walk back. No offense, but... that's nothing. To me, anyway. In all seriousness, I would trade you if I could. We'd probably find each other's ways of getting there more pleasant than our own - at least I know I'd find yours much, much more pleasant. Better to stretch your legs than sit on your a** for six hours a day. Actually, I usually enjoy my walk. I just wish I had another method of transportation for, like, thunderstorms. At least you get thunderstorms. crying

@Vajra-Oh. I get it. At first I thought that you actually hand-washed it.

Something I love to do during thunderstorms at night is sit by an open window with my wooden flute and play Suo Gan over and over.

Lo and behold, a thing that has happened and will happen many times more, happened again yesterday.
I was a talkin' to some people, and after a minute of talking to me, they as me if I'm English or something.
NO! scream
I don't get it. I don't know why people think that. Really, exactly half the people I meet ask that same question. I even had an ecnomics teacher a few years ago who one day went up to me and said, "whats with the accent?".
scream
Now, I do do some somewhat British-esque traits of speech. But, not the ones most people think of. I do pronounce all my R's, and I flap my T's and D's a lot like stereotypical Americans do. I do glottalize my T's at the end of words a lot, and occasionally in the middle of words, but usually there they are just flaps like usual. I think it might be someting in my intonation or something, but I'm not sure. Whatever the case, I obviously talk different enough that people feel the need to point it out. I know I talk somewhat differently than most people around here, (being that I'm not from around here), but the majority opf my speech differences are not very English-ish.
Now, I has a theory: I'm guessing that since I'm here in the generic midwest, most of the people around here don't actually know what a real British person sounds like. So when they hear me, with some of my subtle-ish atypical traits, their hillbilly brain jumps to the conclusion that "Aw, that thar be's a enguh-lish persin! Hyuck!"
Or something like that...

Hi, Hawk. Haven't seen you in a while. biggrin
I go to College of Lake County (there's like three or four campasses...). I'm lucky cause I can get my mom to drive me. Although, now I want to work at Starbucks, but in the morning since I already know the workers at those hours. The main problems are: 1. I'm almost 17 and can't drive so 2. my mom would have to get up early, real early, and drive me to work, drive home, take forever to get back to sleep, wake up before 9 am, come get me from work and take me to school.
I'm an unusual teenager and didn't want to be anywhere near the wheel of a car when I turned 16. Now I wish I had my permit already. xp

I just passed the theory test for my driver's license. biggrin Hopefully I'll get it within a month. smile
Where I live, you're not allowed to take your driver's license until you're 18, which I've been for like three weeks. So I'm trying to get it a.s.a.p to get it over with. smile Plus I live out in nowhere (a very beautiful nowhere), so I have to know how to drive, so I can go into town and such. Yes, there are buses, but it's quite far to the bus stop.
