"Sapphire try to dodge Zyphyr and Zyphyr, you practice your aim alright?" Mistu said to both Pokemon. Zyphyr turned his head away. "With pleasure," he squwaked with sarcasim dropping with each sylable. "Alright, let's see what you guys got. I'll throw in some advice after you guys spar for a bit," Mitsu said before each Pokemon gladly relieved thier anger on each other.
"You're going to pay for insulting not only Mitsu, but me too," Sapphire growled before pouncing up in the air, paws grabbing at Zyphyr's wings. He missed by a mile as the Zyphyr flew upwards. The Pidgeotto sneered, or well, the closest thing a bird can do. "You've got to be kidding me. You? A worthless, weak, little puppy?" Sapphire snarled. "You little--!" He unleashed embers upon the bird Pokemon. He wasn't going to take crap from anyone, especially this unloyal bird. He'd prove his worth to Mitsu, well, he like didn't have to or anything. He was Mr. Tough Guy anyways.
Mitsu looked slightly confused as what appeared to be an exchange of taunts and insults. "Sapphire don't let's Zyphyr's words get to you! Try using an Ember!"
"It would be my pleasure," he said grinning before letting loose flames at Zyphyr. Bad move. Really bad. Zyphyr hated fire, with a burning passion. Ha-ha. Zyphyr was not going to be injured with some orange thing. He ducked under the flames and began to soar low for an Aerial Ace.

'Spinirak's fast; I could tell from the last battle. If anything, I'll have to slow it down first to have a chance of hitting it,' Ky thought to himself. "Sting, shoot a String Shot!" Ky ordered. Out of a small slit from the head of the cacoon, a spray of silk flew towards the Spinirak.

The screams followed by the flashes of fire continued on for a while, until the due finally stopped beneath a large, seemingly bug-free tree. "Let's take a little break, 'kay?" she smiled wanly, sitting down in the cold, damp grass. Cocking his head, Daemyn sat beside her, folding his legs beneath each other and surveying the area critically, as if he was specifically trained and chosen to be her designated guard. For some reason, his trainer reallly didn't like those bug-types; he wouldn't let them scare the life out of her, either, taking on the role of protectant.
A moment later, another person appeared: a young boy with a straw hat and a net swung over his shoulder. Mary-Anne smiled freely now, glad to see something coming from this forest that didn't have an exoskeleton. "Hey, you!" he called out, waving. "You free? I'm tired of looking for bugs; I'm trying to find a battle, now!"
"Sure!" M.A. brightened up visibly at the prospect; Daemyn looked somewhat excited as well, for a good trainer battle would put a fun spin on things -- countless embers after embers was getting rather tedious, after all. He scrutinized the boy, wondering how good of a trainer he might be -- he was short, but that wasn't a good measure. Besides, all the trainer battles M.A. have been in have been with trainers younger than she, for it seemed she started rather late in comparison to other trainers.
"How 'bout a double battle, huh?" he said, practically pumping self-confidence in the air now.
"Uh. . . okay," she agreed hesitantly; she'd never tried a double-battle before, and to be honest, she didn't know how Daemyn and Ulani would ever work together. But there was a first time to everything, and they might as well give it a try. It couldn't hurt.
"Let's go, Hooti, Lady!" the boy cried, sending forth two Pokeballs. In a bright light that illuminated the immediate area, a Hoothoot and Ledyba appeared (which M.A. identified with her Pokedex, naturally). "Show 'em how it's done!"
"'Kay, you ready, Daemyn?" M.A. asked, looking down at the Houndour. He nodded. "Please work with 'Lani, okay? I'll try my best, too," she said, fingering the Swablu's Pokeball. Daemyn looked skeptical, but nodded again nevertheless. "Go, 'Lani, Daemyn!" she called, sending forth the two, one by that oh-so-familiar Pokeball and the other by foot. Almost immediately, Ulani settled herself on Daemyn's head, cooing cheerily; nearly simultaneous, Daemyn snapped his head 'round at the blue bird, clearly irked. "C'mon, guys," M.A. murmured, shaking her head. "You're not supposed to fight each other!"

"I don't need to practice on some stupid aim," Zyphyr chirped rolling his eyes at Mitsu. He curved upwards at an incredible speed and scored a critical hit against Sapphire who refused to give Zyphyr the satisfaction of a whimper or a mere cringe. Sapphire Howeled, raising a few of his stats. He then charged in with a Faint Attack. Of couse this too scored a hit as it was an attack that never missed. "Nice job you two," Mitsu said watching the two Pokemon exchange blow for blow.

Erika had been in the midst of congratulating her Vileplume for a job well done when the silvery fire horse made his appearance. The normally calm, gentle leader gave an involuntary cry, fear shining in her eyes. Vileplume gazed up at her trainer with concern; it was as if this happened often.
"Erika!" one of the girls came up to her, placing a hand on her shoulder. The two exchanged a few hushed words before the girl ran off again, and Erika found the strength to stand again, and face Apollo.
Even with the sun's rays enhancing her speed, the Ponyta would still be rather fast. Erika pointed at the flaming horse, and uttered her command. Vileplume stepped forward, eager to comply as a thick plaster of searing, toxic sludge rocketed forth towards Apollo.

At Rin's comment, Miharu felt a pang of guilt. She quickly shrugged it off, trying to get into the battle spirit. As predicted, the Ariados attacked Akira, leaving Aska and Miharu to contend with the Beedrill. I don't think Aska can out-muscle it, but I bet she can outrun it! "Aska! Quick Attack! Dodge those needles!"
The little Pidgey gave a cry of affirmation, her sandy brown body becoming a blur as a trail of white streaked behind her. She zoomed towards the needles, passing by them without taking a scratch. "Keep going!" Miharu called, feeling a bit of confidence seeping into her veins. Aska flew around the Beedrill, arching quickly and hitting it from behind with the tail end of her attack.

Keegan smiled at the silver Ponyta - Apollo was quite a marvelous sight to behold; his flames dancing across his back and neck in silver and black wisps. Erika's reaction caught him off guard though; she hadn't faltered like that at the sight of Hiro, Kasiya's Arcanine. Perhaps she is frightened of fire Pokemon with open flames on their bodies? he thought. Although, being the leader of a primarily grass-type gym, I would be too...
He couldn't help but smile at Vileplume's attempted Sludge Bomb, though. It was here, at this very gym where he'd decided that it would be a perfect move for Loki.

Ada gave a soft cry of disappointment, tears welling up in the corners of her eyes. She waddled over to Kasiya, holding out her arms to be picked up. Kasiya sighed, and knelt down, placing her hands on the Larvitar's waist. She took a deep breath, trying to lift the little, albeit heavy Pokemon to the ground, but to no avail. Adamantine was much larger than before, and much heavier as well. "I'm sorry, Ada, but I can't pick you up anymore," the girl said sadly, disappointment in her voice. "What the heck has Mom been feeding you, anyway?" Ada hopped up and down, deciding that she'd settle on a hug instead, to which Kasiya happily obliged. "Well, that didn't go so well," she sighed, looking at the gym in dismay. Water trickled out the front door, some of the sand drifting along with it. Her eyes lit up, and she quickly ushered her Pokemon into Surge's room, leaving Ariel in the main arena. "Ariel, use your Water Gun to blast the sand out the front door!" The Vaporeon grinned and nodded, then released a high-powered Water Gun to start clearing the sand. Kasiya found a broom and swept up the stray sand that had found its way into the other room.
Before long, the dynamic duo had cleared Vermilion gym of the boundless amounts of sand, but there was still the problem of how wet the floor was. "I guess this hereby halts our training for the night," the girl sighed, placing her hands on her hips. She pulled Ariel, Hiro and Ada into their Pokeballs, and then also Fang and Casimir as well; for the Crobat was trying to provoke the Absol into attacking him. Flash remained by her side Kasiya found her way to the back, where she fully restored her Pokemon. She looked at the clock, and sighed again. It still wasn't very late, but thanks to her Pokemons' ridiculous antics in the gym, their training would have to be postponed until later.

"Maybe we should just head back to the Pokemon Center for the night?" Kasiya said aloud.
"Jolt!" Flash barked, his ears twitching.
"Hmm? What is it? Oh!" she turned around in time to see a young man standing at the door. Her heart began to race, for it was none other than that rude boy from several weeks ago - the one who'd defeated Kasiya in a battle atop the Celadon City Department Store's rooftop. "You," the girl growled, narrowing her eyes. "What do you want?"
The boy merely smirked, crossing his arms over his chest. "Well now. I wasn't expecting to see you here again."
"What do you want?" Kasiya repeated, kneeling down and putting a gentle hand on Flash's back. The Jolteon's fur bristled and stood on sharp angles as static coursed over his body.
"I'd heard that Lt. Surge had a breakdown," he said simply. "I was... worried."
The sneer he wore across his face nearly made Kasiya shake with rage. She forced herself to remain calm, and stood back up again, and shrugged her shoulders. "Well, you heard wrong. My dad's perfectly fine. In fact, he went off on a training excursion somewhere in Johto." It was her turn to fold her arms and sneer; she wasn't going to let this jerk get to her again.
"Is that so," the nameless trainer scratched his chin, and sighed. "It's too bad, then. I was hoping to challenge him to a battle, but all I find here is his wimpy little daughter. Sad."
Kasiya said nothing. The last time she'd battled this trainer, she'd already been quite upset after losing to Seth, and his rude comments and gestures had completely thrown her off her game. She smiled, deciding to play into his little game. "Then I guess you have no reason to be here," Kasiya said smugly. "The leader isn't here, and it's not like I want to waste my time with a snobbish jerk like you."
"I think you forget, my dear loser, just what happened last time we battled. Don't you recall the horrible thrashing that you were dealt on that rooftop?" He was glaring now; her sudden attitude change was really throwing him for a loop. "I'm the one who doesn't want to waste their time."
"It was an off-day," Kasiya said simply.

Z took out his pokedex to see if he could get data on omanyte for an edge against him. "Omanyte, the spiral pokemon. It is a water/rock type. Omanyte is one of the ancient and long since extinct pokemon that have been regenerated from fossils by people. If it is attacked our feels threatened it withdraws into is's sturdy shell. Sometimes it eats insects." The pokedex said in it's mechanical voice. Shino fell silent and looked back at Z with a horified look on it's face. "It will be okay Shino. I won't let it hurt you." Z said looking at the small pokemon. Shino chirped quietly once more then jumped off of Z's shoulder and onto the ground that would serve as a batlle field. "Umm this will be a one on one battle. The last pokemon standing wins. Go." Angie said akwardly. She was usuly much more bouncy then this but she felt very out of place hearing about those two's stories without even being introduced to the newcomer. Shino looked foreward and saw omanyte looking at him menacingly. Even though Shino was still slightly taller Omanyte looked like a terrafying giant to Shino. "Let's go Helix! Use constrict like you did on Z." Mica commanded and Helix prepared for a leap.

The Beedrill was thrown into an awkward loop in the air as he was struck from behind. "Drill!" it droned before balancing itself midair again. "Twin Needle!" Jake shouted. Beedrill squinted his eyes for a moment before charging at Aska. The right needle aimed for the Pidgey's chest and the left needle reared back for a second strike.
Akira wasn't planning on letting go any time soon. The mouth ground it's teeth back and forth causing an unbearable amount of pain to surge through the Bug Pokemon's legs and body. "Arri, let's use Night Shade," Kevin commanded after taking note that the Ariados could not get free. Arri seemed to turn three time's the size he normally was. Akira had a bit of fright shock through her system and let go, cringing from the ghostly attack.

If there was a bar or meter that measured anger levels, Sapphire probably would have broken the top off it by now. Needless to say, he was steaming mad. "You stupid bird, get back here!" He loosed more flames at the now retreating Zyphyr. He however, wasn't going to take this from Sapphire. He was the boss, and he was better. "Catch me if you can puppy." Zyphyr pulled off a few backflips and loops in the air, easily dodgeing the carelessly thrown bits of fire.
It was a battle between to hot tempered Pokemon. "Zyphyr is suposed to attack and you're suposed to dodge Sapphire!" Mitsu sighed. The two merely noted Mitsu's existance as they kept their chase up. Mitsu ground her teeth this was not training. "Zyphyr! Use Quick Attack. Now!" Mitsu shouted. Once more he merely turned his head, but for an added effect this time he kicked up a Sand Attack at Mitsu, covering her clothing in bits of dust, dirt, and chared ashes.
Mitsu left out a sigh. "Sapphire use Ember! As soon as you see an opening give it all you've got." Sapphire nodded, unlike Zyphyr, he was a loyal Pokemon. "You're going to get it now you little birdie," he taunted. Zyphyr rolled his eyes ready to throw another insult, but met face first with a batch of redorange flames. "Don't let you're guard down Zyphyr. Even if you're going to taunt or insult someone," Mitsu pitched in smiling at Sapphire's success.

"Spinarak, Poison Sting!" Spinarak opened it's mouth and fired out a spray of needles, cutting up Sting's string shot into nothing. "Come now Ky, you can do better than that."

"If you think so," the nameless trainer shrugged. "I never will forget just how one-sided that battle was. You're hardly worthy of being the daughter of a gym leader."
Kasiya stretched her arms over her head, flexing her wrist and fingers until they each cracked. "Yeah, I guess I didn't give a very good first impression, now did I?"
The boy shook his head. "I daresay your first impression was rather humiliating. At least, for you."
"How about you give me a second chance then?" Kasiya asked sweetly, flashing him her charming smile. "Surely you won't turn down such a humble request from a pretty little girl like me?"
"Hahaha, I guess I won't," the boy shrugged. "This time let's make it four verses four, that is, if you even-"
"I'll have you know that I have eleven Pokemon," Kasiya cut him off. "And four versus four is perfect. But we should probably take this outside. The floor in here is too wet for battling."
"Fine by me," he said, tucking a lock of dark brown hair behind an ear. Kasiya collected her things and turned off the lights, hoping the gym would dry out overnight. The boy waited outside for the girl to lock up, eyeing her suspiciously as she tucked the keys safely in her left-front vest pocket. "So your dad goes off to another region for training and leaves the gym in your inept hands?" he scoffed.
"Yeah, something like that," Kasiya shrugged, as the two took their positions on an empty street. Kasiya looked around, realizing this would be her fourth battle on the streets of Vermilion. She wasn't surprised at all as the boy held up that Great Ball once more, and released that same Machoke he'd lead off with last time. Flash looked eager to go, but Kasiya decided against letting him go first this time. "I remember you," Kasiya grumbled, remembering how the fighter's well-timed Counters had been Fang's downfall last time. "Let's play, Fang!" the girl called, releasing her Crobat. The shiny, green Pokemon was released with his trademark cascade of gold and green sparkles, his four wings flapping rapidly to take him into the air.

Meanwhile . . . Lyn yawned loudly as she headed to route 11. She had no idea why she was even doing this. Sure she cared mildly about other people but it was saturday. She was normally lazy but back home in pacidlog she was almost comepletly immobile on saturdays. She didn't wake up until about three pm and she wouldn't get out of bed until four. At four she would get breakfast then read a few chapters of a good book or maybe watch T.V. Then at six she would go to sleep and wake up again and get lunch. Then she would probably do something more active like play with Amy or swim (float). She then had dinner and slept until sunday afternoon. As she continued to think of why she shouldn't be doing his she realized that she was already on route 11. "Well that was fast." She said yawning once more. Suddenly she felt something rub against her leg. "What are you doing Amy." Lyn said looking down to see that Amy was not touching her. She looked down into the tall grass around her legs and saw multiple Ekans wrapping aorund her.
