Sunsworn Being overdescriptive is a fault, in my book. Be clear, but not verbose. You want to make it read like a scene from a movie or an anime, you want the action to hit the reader hard and then move on. If you get too technical, you become instantly boring to read. If what you're writing is boring, then you've already lost. So don't worry too much about being super detail oriented. What's much more important is knowing exactly what you want to describe and then executing it in a brief, entertaining way. When you do that you can start devoting more time to your character's thought process, or referencing the action to a storyline. Suddenly, your action is more than just a bunch of physical motions. Suddenly, it has meaning, and precedence. Suddenly, it begins to make sense. That's when I think fights are the best. I hope to fight you one day in a tournament. I'm sure we'd have lots of fun. Don't forget about the losers that try to spice you up on so much detail you actually can't tell what going on in the post at all.

Since everyone is making their own Sigil like thread (What else am I supposed to call it?), I may announce the one I've been working on soon.

ImNoHero Don't forget about the losers that try to spice you up on so much detail you actually can't tell what going on in the post at all. Purple prose is the death of fun. We've definitely got one or two participants in this tournament who are just so detailed that what they're writing makes absolutely no sense.

Sunsworn I can't imagine how hard I'd be slamming my head against a desk if I were a judge right now. It's been literally nonstop about this one very below par fight. It's gotten to the point where the entire thread is just savagely beating this dead horse. Why aren't we talking about highlights from this round? Some people have already posted more in their fights (which haven't even officially started yet) then were posted by the conclusion of last round. ..This is a rhetorical question because you used Ultima VI instead of VII art but, are you daft? The critique post I made covered a broad, sweeping number of issues that are quite apparent with virtually -all- the judgement, not just Vintrict vs OutlawD. I know you're roleplaying as a white knight Vansroen, but don't do so to a detriment to discussion being had.

Shockingcat Since everyone is making their own Sigil like thread (What else am I supposed to call it?), I may announce the one I've been working on soon. I have a Sigil based thread, but I think you mean more along the line of a 'City' or 'Country' type thread. Like a thread with different locations on a 'map' so to speak. Either way, lemme see!!!!

I don't have anything posted yet as its only half written and requires some more thorough thinking to it.
However I can say its a scifish based city. More like massive artificial island city with an orbital elevator in the center.

I know you're roleplaying as a white knight Vansroen, but don't do so to a detriment to discussion being had. Necessary and asked for as your critique surely was, you are only one part of a trend I was commenting on, and that trend went on a bit long for my taste. I haven't kept track of exactly how continuous the complaining was, but it was more than enough to be tedious, for which you're as responsible as everyone else. A good thing repeated often becomes cliche, and cliche is dull stuff. One thing I can guarantee is that I've been no detriment to your dull discussion. It has continued around me and despite me with no hiccup for my participating in it. So as we say in the Holy Legion: step off, brother.

ImNoHero Red the Ambivalent I really want to enter a tournament soon, now. I mean yes after reading the majority of the fights, ooc chatter and complaining, it looks like it can be a real pain in the a**...But I like the challenge that I could face. I mean... I am very rusty, and I came from a time in Gaya Rp fighting that we weren't so detailed, it was straightforward and to the point. Everyone, at least a lot of you, have had very flashy and out there posts, with much more detail then I have ever added to any fight. This. I want this challenge to sit on my a** for two hours and write up a post with the thought that I am trying to give everybody something enjoyable to read. Wanna spar? I'd love to, I just need to work out my profile. I'm revamping everything, upgrading armors, weapons, fine tuning abilities. I'll continue working on it, and when I am finished I'll let you know. I don't want to jump into a spar so fast without specifically knowing what I am adding to her just yet. The rest of the day and tomorrow I am off work, I think I could probably get a rough draft going that would make me feel comfortable within a couple of hours.

YummyBiscuits dont expect any more explanations; like the child he is, Vin's ruined it for the rest of you. edit: this includes the "Judges Opinion" portion on the grading rubric. Me: Hey, Yummy, how did you do the grades? Yummy: I didn't like this, I didn't like this, I did this. Me: Can you explain it further? For some reason, what you said and the grades you gave don't match up... Yummy: Uuh...I just did okay? lol I don't need to explain anything. Haha shut up Vintrict. You ruin everything! Hurr hurr!

Sunsworn So as we say in the Holy Legion: step off, brother. Not like any of your drivel's of interest or note. Where you get off telling people valid critique is bothersome astounds me, Vanroen. Probably the same fuzzy realm you get the logic Ultima VI is a good game.

Your critique and the rest of this "discussion" has been so productive and useful to the party you're critiquing they've felt the need to never provide you with judge explanations again. Poorly as that decision is on their part, it's also a direct response to your very input. Clearly you handled it with a tact and respect the judges deserve for taking time out of their day to host this tournament for you. Calling what you've done critique is a bit rich, I think. Bullying someone for a mistake seems much more accurate. Their response to your bullying seems to me to be the best evidence for that charge. No doubt you'll disagree, but I have no mind to hear it. You seem to thrive on arguing, and I'll spare myself from being your next target. Go on, give me your worst and let's be done with it.

I have zero mercy towards them in terms of being "ganged up on;" I've been in authoritative positions of a similar nature with far more people concurrently and dealt with everything from death threats to other players to a guy threatening to rape someone. They're dealing with the hardships of participants disagreeing with a decision. It's their choice to react as they see fit (and they have/are/shall), but acting like they're victims is such a silly kiss-a** farce, it's almost as ridiculous of you as claiming Ultima VI's better than Colonial Marines. They don't have to host this tournament and I respect them taking the time to. But you run an event and do something that jives players the wrong way, they're gonna make it known. You don't address it, it'll be a repeat point of criticism no matter what you say, rule, or think. You don't like that, don't run an event, you're not cut out for it. Plain and simple. You're "my next target" because you're a pompous windbag who gets on your knees and gargles mayonnaise to get in good graces, it makes me respect Vintrict's argument skills in comparison and he basically starts wigging out and attacking the first identified female present.
