Chev looked between them "Ok what did you tell him? I've been working for years to keep him safe and you tell him I'm untrustworthy? Why are you sticking your nose in our business anyway? All you care about it making the cure to prove you can!"

Idan bit his lip "Well... she's not... YOU are!"
Chev looked struck at that
He shifted nervously "Well you are. You keep things from me and never let me do anything unless you approve it. You keep chasing away all my friends... and I know most of them ASKED for it but... she did and came back so you don't get to chase her away! I like being and living with you... but that doesn't mean I want to be around ONLY you..." He took a breathe "And I'm not a baby that needs looking after. I want you to want me around because I'm your brother... not because you feel responsible for me..."

"What do you know..." Darkfang muttered several meters away, her excellent hearing allowing her to pull in every word. "So he does have a spine." She looked up and eyed a tree branch high above her head. A good tactical advantage and a nice way to put some distance between herself and the brothers. "Beast mode..." she commanded, her systems shifting instantly so that her robotic components were contained within the body of a wolf...with an unusual set of wings. "But they serve my purpose," she said taking to the air and settling herself on the branch.

He glared "No... I figured it out myself. And you SHOULD HAVE told me! Geez Chev... I know I don't see them often but I do go visit the family at times. What if mom invited me home while you were away and I went? I wouldn't have been prepared at all..."
"Father... he said... I couldn't.."
"He forbid you from warning me and thats why you bound me to the house. Yeah I know that already. No matter what Dad's not going to kill both of us and he LIKES you much more than me. You can go against him with no problem... or if you had REALLY wanted to do soemthing.. you should have called Mackenzie."
Chev looked away "The girls shouldn't be involved in this. Its bad enough mom has to deal with it."
Idan rolled his eyes "They aren't stupid. While most of them ignore dad's... meaner qualities Mackenzie has always known and blatantly gone against them. You know she would've talked dad out of it in a moment.. just by bullying him."
"I didn't want to bother her or get her involved."
Idan nodded stonily "Because you wanted dad to succeed?"
"NO! Never.. geez Idan you really think that of me?"
"I'm not sure what to think right now..."

Idan nodded "I know... you got me out. I just think.... family loyalty is outweighing your need to protect me now. I can understand your tired of it..."

"Ugh.. when are you going to learn that your NOT a waste of space or a mistake and you do deserve to be around and be cared for??"
Idan was silent a few moments "When its proven to me..."
Chev frowned bitterly "And I don't prove it?"
Idan sighed and said quietly "No... you don't.."
