Sorry, got mad and left it for a while.

I was PM'ing Aiko her edits, and had spent about ten minutes typing out the PM (one-handed, because of Baby-Ree squirming in my arms) and was wise enough to "copy" the text before I hit Preview to make sure they were all working properly. Well, IE froze on me, so I decided to give it some time. I had to fix a bunch of Cardi's edits anyway, so I opened them all up (yeah, about 15 edits, but that's not usually a problem) and started putting them all into a single PSD so I could edit them faster. Two steps into this, Photoshop crashes. Just dies. Quits. FOR NO REASON. And with no warning. So I go back to Aiko's PM. And I have an error, so that Refresh brings me back to my Inbox. And of course because I had to copy + paste the edits, I'd lost the copy I had of that PM, and I had to start over. So I lost both the progress I'd made on the edits AND my PM.

...after typing it all out, it sounds stupid, because it wasn't that much work, but seriously -- editing and PM'ing is about ten times more difficult with a baby in your arms who is sick of the whole process.

But this is just today's scraping of the surface of the loathing my computer has for my tender loving care. It loves to randomly restart during Warcraft (though that was solved by getting a new video card) and lately it also likes to give me the blue-screen-of-death or freeze in the middle of closing programs.

However, there is a bright light in all of it. I went back to Photoshop to try another whack at Cardi's edits, and of course it bombed out on me again. I yelled at it out loud this time, and Baby-Ree giggled at me from my lap. *lol* How could I not be cheered up?

SF: that is adorable. 3nodding

@SF- Aww that's adorable ^_^ I can't wait to see the pets you have in store for it. I don't know who people who pixel have so much will power o_o' I have problems staying focued on a single coloring job for more than an hour.

@Kimi- I'm sorry to hear that ;-; *huggles* Though, it's just amazing how babies can just naturally cheer people up. I did the same with my mom when her brother died. She was crying holding me in her arms, and I'm giggling up a storm is what she told me. Maybe Babies have natural instinct when it comes to knowing when Mommy or Daddy are sad and know how to cheer them up.

Actually, I can't even use any version of photoshop higher than LE 5 without the whole computer freezing on me o_o' I still can't figure out why too, because I have Windows XP and more than enough room left on my hard drive o-o'

Eclipsed: Usually room left on Drive has nothing to do with applications crashing. How much RAM do you have installed on your computer?

Konami: I find the computers that crash with Photoshop are more faulty than the program. I have Photoshop CS2 v9.0 and it's never crashed on me in all the hours I've put into it.

And an added note. Anybody who can find me the title of that famous-sounding rock-style surfing-esque song will recieve a gaian item prize from me.

@Alex- I'm not sure actually o_o' It's probably not much considering the Sims Unleashed runs really slow when my family of 5 is on the screen(unlike when I had the earlier version of it) Is there a way to check RAM without installing anything on my computer O_o'
PostPosted: Thu Oct 13, 2005 5:14 pm

Alex: Yes, but how hard do you crank it? Unfortunately, my poor Photoshop usually has several PSD's open with gabillions of layers each, and I'm forever asking it to open 25-30+ files at once. I can understand if it's a little pissed at me. sweatdrop Not the rest of my machine, though. I don't understand the Blue-screen-of-death. Hubby now and then utters the dreaded word "reformat" to get me to stop complaining. *lol* He's pretty sure that would solve my problems, but I am an idiot who has not backed up my data for a year or so, and I've got to do that before we can wipe the whole thing clean.

And re: the song: *lol* With words or without?

Kimi: Yeah, I was muttering the word "reformat" to myself as well when reading your post. And how hard you "crank" the program wouldn't really affect anything. If it was going to crash from opening thirty files, it'd do it every time. I usually have about 8 psd files open at once, each with about 20 layers. And without words on the song, please.

Eclipsed: Right click on the "My Computer" icon on the desktop and click "Properties." It'll list it on that box that pops up.

Edit: I had to back up 50 GB of data before. I got it done in a day, so it's not all that much of a hassle. It's more of a hassle reinstalling everything, really.
