I'm reading a rather interesting book for my research paper which is subsequently disturbing my mother.
xd Cannibas: A History
I've read about six chapters so far and I'm barely a quarter of the way through and I'm starting to appreciate it even more than I already did. My positive talk about Marijuana and Hashish has always set my mother off tilt considering she works in addicitions, but its getting to her a lot more now that I'm reading about it.
After a great deal of research on the subject and first hand experience... I just can't seem understand why its illegal. The plant has been cultivated by almost every society on Earth and only in the last century or so has it been so severly cracked down on. Not to say that some cultures haven't found the pyscho-active use to be a deplorable thing.
I just don't understand why its illegal.
it causes an altered mind state, and around the time they outlawed it there wasn't any big company that was producing it that would pay the officials to let it through the screening process, that's why we have Cigarettes and alcohol still.
And yet Cigarettes are more danger
ous than marijuana. domokun Go figure eh?Partially true, smoking Marijuana is almost just as bad as smoking tobacco. Key word being almost, smoke in general is bad for the longs Marijuana smoke contains far fewer caustic chemicals than tobacco but still isn't all that healthy... however the factor of duration and how many times you smoke comes into play too.
When it comes to overall chemical harm Alcohol is far more dangerous than Marijuana. Contrary to Popular belief Marijuana isn't chemically addictive nor does it cause the mass Brain cell purge that alchol does.
One of the reasons Marijuana was made illegal was because of the idiotic "Reefer Madness" campaign and racial stereotyping. So it was banned under the Harrison act. Its also speculated that the plant it self known, the Hemp plant, would threaten the nations textile and paper mills and since this was the time of the robber barrons it was made illegaly.
And since the social stigma still seems to surround Marijuana as an evil thing it was made illegal when Nixon declared his war on drugs.
I know why its been made illegal... I just can't seem to understand why people seem to think its such a bad thing.
