Centigrade [Sanity_is_for_the_Weak] I don't plan to use Kroot at all. I think Firewarriors give you more bang for the buck when it comes for wasting power. Kroot just die. Oh Kroot can be extremely useful if there is a bit of wooded area terrain. If they infiltrate into that they will be extremely hard to shift and they can shoot 12 inches through a wooded area instead of 6 like all other models. Plus if and enemy tries to assault the Kroot will in the terrain the Kroot will have an initiative of 10 and if you have a maximum unit of Kroot in that unit that is about 60 strength 4 attacks coming back at the assaulting unit which is very scary indeed. So I totally disagree with you in saying that Kroot just die. Well they do, they are usually used as a diversionary tactic, and I don't play in wooded areas. I think I more than make-up for a flesh screen by adding more firepower available.

Yeah well you are talking to a fire warrior purist. I hate kroot. Sure they cost less, but for a true mobilized army they slow you down even if you infiltrate.

Of course I am not saying that taking an army where the troop choices are entirely Fire Warriors does not have it's advantages. And it is good that osme of us have different views as we would all be the same player if we had the same taste in army lists.

I always field at leats one unit of Kroot, but I tend to play a balanced list. I don't think they always need to be used os flesh shields either. I generaly stick them in cover and use the pillbox effect. I find this works really well because they will pump most enemies full of lead and then if the enemy tries to charge they have to charge through cover.

So last night we did an all elite battle. I used my Six Crisis suits, FB, MP, PR, Multi-Trackers and my stealth suits, six of them toting BC. He had Veteran Assault Squad, Death Company, Terminators, Furioso Dread and Venerable Dread and Scouts. I vaporized the scouts, the Furioso, Venerable and Every Terminator. He says he won. He took out all my units. Even from a victory stand point I only lost 511 points. He lost 20 points more.

Yeah well my strategy was sound. Isolate units then burn. Got the scouts alone because he infil, then he brought the Assault squad forward. Should have been no trouble, but the terminators were going to flank so I have to stop that. Then it fell apart and I went into the mind set of use fire power. took the tank Buster Suits over the naughts and killed at close range, then turned took on the death company. I got to close and went into close combat. My downfall.

I rarely do games like that because I prefer to have a hammerhead tank and sniper drone squadron to fall back on if things get a little to spicy.
