"We face the king of demons, the monster that once ruled all Magvel.
He's more powerful than any one of us here. But we have something that beast will never have.
We have community, friendship, love... We have all the virtues of humanity.
That is our weapon. That is our strength.
Is everyone ready? We're going to win."

Ephraim decided actually going into the church wouldn't exactly be necessary--it didn't seem like there was another way out, and if she ran into any trouble, they would certainly hear it. Then they could make their entrance. For now, they would stay close but out of sight. "Well, our attention was certainly elsewhere at the time." Having to deal with that horde of monsters attracted by the power of the tear. Not to mention all of the princesses had a rather negative opinion towards Ephraim at the time, so she probably didn't want to spare another glance his way. "Well... I appreciate your words, though I could certainly be doing more." Ephraim really wasn't one to take compliments, was he? "Thanks to my comrades, we were able to destroy an ancient evil that threatened our world, to put things simply. That's the grandest thing I've done--eliminating the threat. But the war that preceded that left Renais on the brink of ruin. I've only just begun the reconstruction effort, and it is immense, to say the least. This is why they need more than just my strength. I appreciate your words, and I hope I live up to them. I owe it to my people." It was very difficult for Ephraim not to be hard on himself, though that was for good reason. He still felt extreme guilt for leaving his country at the time it needed him most, and that guilt would likely never leave him. He had to devote himself to his people, to making their lives better. He owed that and so much more to them.
As they began to speak more about Serenity, Ephraim nodded. "Amazing... that must be a convenient power to have." It certainly would've come in handy during the war a few times. "...I have a friend named Myrrh in my world. The more you speak about your people, the more you remind me of her. Do your people also have a very long lifespan? ...She's what's called a Manakete, and she has the ability to turn into a dragon. In addition, she can sense darkness, among some other things. And though she looks young, she's over a thousand years old. We hail from different worlds, but the similarities are difficult to ignore... I wonder if there's some link we don't know of." Most likely, there wasn't. But it was hard not to consider the similarities between Myrrh's race and Phoenix's.
As she went on to speak in reference to their new plans to fight, the king blinked, taken aback a bit. She would notice his cheeks flush in response to her little compliment. He had never been called that before, and certainly he had never been so casually complimented by a girl. "Hah... I think you need your eyes checked." He said, putting his hands on his hips. "You're the princess here, and certainly the one who qualifies as being cute. Even compared to your sister, you're cuter, you know." That was probably not something she was used to hearing. That was just how Ephraim was, though. She was attractive, but he found her even more so after learning more about her personality. It was the same as with L'Arachel. Unisha was certainly beautiful, but he had never been too interested in a gentle, nice lady type. The fiercer, the better, probably. It said a lot when the only person he had ever been attracted to before coming to this world was L'Arachel of all people. Her next words brought a similar grin to his own face. Oh, she was really getting it now. "I'll look forward to it, then. I'm sure you'll be even cuter when you're pouting over your loss." These two were already getting along so well. Which was strange, since Ephraim was so socially awkward, and had such a small pool of friends. Needless to say, though, he and Phoenix could certainly become good friends given their similarities. And especially their interest in battle.

The still very oblivious Aerith continued to her next destination, the small playground she visited with Zack so many years ago. Since it was such a small, open area it didn't take much to see that it too, was empty of the one she was looking for. "..........." So, he wasn't at the church, nor was he here. There were signs of struggle where Zack supposedly returned, and the Buster Sword was missing. She didn't want to think of the possibility he could have been kidnapped, but the more she thought on it, the more it seemed that was exactly the situation. "...Rufus is gone...ShinRa has fallen...? " She said to herself softly. "..There would be no reason for them to take him there...but who? ...Who would want Zack? " She continued to talk amongst herself, as if something would help her figure out where he could be. ".....I won't be of any help like this.." Everything she once had was gone, no GIL, No Princess Guard, no potions of any kind or even Materia. Not to mention her most treasured Holy Materia.
Cloud had spent all his hard earned GIL, and she most certainly wasn't going to ask him for any to buy a cheap fighting staff! Somehow she had to make quick money, but how? .........The flowers at the church? ...Would people even want them anymore? How difficult this was becoming suddenly!
Sighing softly, Aerith began to leave the playground area, on her way to the Weapons shop, at least she could get an idea of how much she may need before jumping into selling her flowers!

"Heh, yeah....uh, sorry about, you know...I think we all were just having a bad day. " Yeah, being pulled out of their worlds, and forced into this one wasn't exactly a very good day for any of them. "...I our worlds go whacky again, and somehow Serenity and your world are joined together next, maybe i'll give you a hand on that restoration project.." It was a bad attempt to lighten the mood a little, it seemed pretty terrible for him, and she wanted to help, but obviously that wasn't completely possible, not unless his kingdom came to this world too, there wouldn't be much she could do then! "Everything's so weird right now, you never know what's possible. What if your Kingdom is here too, just like us? Somewhere out there.."
"Hmm? Seriously? That's pretty amazing. I never heard of another race similar to ours.We do have a very long lifespan, too.." She seemed rather impressed. "it would be something if that were true, a link we don't know of.." After her little playful compliment, Phoenix lowered her hands back down to her sides as they walked. "Nah, that's not true. Are all Kings that silly? Or is it just you? " She was hardly joking when she said he was cute! "Hmmm? I think it's you who needs the eye checking done! " Her face tinted a faint red, as she turned her face away, pretending to look at something of course! "Hardly cute. My sister is that thing, for girls being cute that tends to mean they are weak, helpless little princess's. That's clearly not me, as you can see! " She paused a moment, shaking off that silly blush. "..Erm..Thanks, though..." She didn't want to be rude!
"Ha! We'll see! I don't intend to lose! " She grinned a bit, glancing on ahead of them as she noticed Aerith disappear around the corner. Whoopsie. Maybe they got to distracted in their conversations to keep up with her.

The moment Phoenix and Ephraim came around that very corner, in hopes to get a location on her again, what they didn't expect jumped right out in front of them, a strangely amused expression on the cetra's features. "Hello there.." She glanced at the two. "How long have you been following me? " "Gah, what the heck..I took you for a weak, gentle lady who couldn't scare a fly, and you pull that off.." It was safe to say, she completely surprised Phoenix. It was really very funny, actually! "...Er...I mean...we weren't following you. It's...a nice day out, so...you know...walking...and stuff.." Durrr.

"...Cetra..." A voice came from behind Aerith, cutting the little chat short. As the group's attention came to the figure, they would see a... man? with a dark hood obscuring his features entirely, and even on the odd occasion he turned his head enough to provide some view of his face, it was easy to see an iron mask was covering his entire face. "...Cetra..." He began to take slow steps towards Aerith.
His steps came to a slow end as Ephraim positioned himself between Aerith and the hooded figure, brandishing Siegmund and planting the bottom of the shaft against the ground and his other hand against his hip. "Cetra isn't her name." Ephraim was unaware of what a "Cetra" was, but it mattered little. This was exactly what he came to prevent. Many citizens began to uneasily step away and clear the area as they saw the spear being held and the hooded figure.
The iron mask turned slightly to look at the spear that seemed to almost pulsate pure, raw power. "...Sacred Twin..."
"?" Ephraim's neutral expression changed. "What did you say?" How could he have known that?
"........Not me." The man said finally. "...I serve... The Mastermind... The Mastermind knows all... The Mastermind sees all... The... Mastermind... demands... The Cetra..." He took slow steps towards Aerith once more.
"...He isn't in his right mind." Ephraim surmised. "So-called Mastermind--you're watching this, aren't you?" The man once again came to a slow stop. "...I thought so. That mask--you see this all through that, don't you? Is that how you're controlling this man's mind too?"
"...Impressive." The man's mouth was no longer moving from beneath the mask--the voice being projected was not his own, and it came from the mask. "The king of Renais. My data implied you were poorly educated, but your mind works quickly. It seems I was wrong." The voice was modified and distorted, enough that it was difficult to even recognize if this voice belonged to the body of a man or woman.
"Right..." Ephraim's intellect had been doubted before due to being poor at schoolwork, but he was quite intelligent. ...He just found schoolwork to be terribly boring. "And how do you know about me?"
"I know about all of you... Aerith Gainsborough, the last surviving Cetra. "Surviving," as of recently. Phoenix, the second princess of the Kingdom of Serenity, daughter of Eskallion. I could go on... do you want to know about things you didn't even know? Phoenix, your childhood friend, Aeon? He's a Reaper, and has been for years. Exiled from his own kingdom. Did Alisa never tell you? Some friend, huh... Aerith, did you know that it's Cloud's fault Zack Fair died? Had he abandoned the deadweight, he would've made it to you, safe and sound. Your story would have gone much differently... perhaps you both would've lived. Ironic, isn't it? The man you traveled alongside was the reason the man you loved died. Need I go on? Oh, Ephraim... Lyon is still suffering, you know. Sacrificing himself as part of that ritual means his soul will never know peace. Even now, he's in insufferable-"
"Enough!" Ephraim's grip on Siegmund tightened, and he took a step forward, grabbing the man by the collar of his shirt--as if this was the Mastermind. "Not another word about Lyon, damn you! Where are you hiding?! Are you so cowardly you hide behind innocent people used as puppets?"
"Cowardly? I have little interest in trying to assault the lot of you head-on. You're a tactician, aren't you? You know that would be far from intelligent. Oh, Aerith... You're looking for Zack, aren't you? I have him. And the Buster Sword, too... don't worry. He isn't in any danger. ...For now. You remember the Gold Saucer, I'm sure. Bring your friends. We're going to hold a little tournament there. If one of yours wins, he's all yours. You can thank me later." And a moment after the message was delivered, the body attached to the mask went limp, and the iron mask's lit eyes dimmed, before dropping off the man's face and slamming into the ground. The man also fell back onto the ground below, unconscious now. He seemed to be some random bystander. And moments later, the iron mask began to dissipate, taking only a second to vanish completely from the place on the ground it had fallen to.
"..." Ephraim closed his eyes, his fists tightening. Lyon... Even despite what he had done, Ephraim still considered him to be a friend up until the very end. An unforgivable friend, perhaps, but a friend nonetheless. What the "Mastermind" had said... did not sit well with him. Needless to say, all three of them had received unpleasant information. He had to push it to the back of his mind for now, though... he sometimes had to wonder when that would run out of room. He turned to the two girls there. "...We have a location." He said, his voice sounding a bit quieter than it had. "I suppose you know where this place is?" They would have to go tell the others, of course...

Aerith's attention was quickly drawn away from the two, as she came to look at the darkly dressed figure. It wasn't anything she recognized, but it didn't stop her from being a little worried. Good things never came when she was called by Cetra. A mysterious figure who knew what she was usually wasn't the best thing in the world. She was about to ask how this mysterious person knew such information, but as it went on to make it clear this person knew a lot more then just about her, she fell silent to listen to what he was saying.

"...Is that what you think? " Aerith's expression didn't change much, she wasn't angry at all, despite what this Mastermind probably hoped for. "I thought you knew everything? " She smiled, giving the slightest shake of her head. "You don't know Zack at all. Zack would never abandon a friend, especially one in need. He is a caring person with the biggest heart! Anything Zack does, is always for good reason. As for Cloud, my opinion on him will never change, he is so special to me, just as everyone I got to meet during those times are. I'm sorry if you hoped for another reaction. "
"..." Phoenix was rather silent, after receiving her own unexpected information, she kind of fell speechless. Aeon, a Reaper? ...She might be able to get over that, but for him to be exiled from his own kingdom, what the heck was that about? ...Just because of what he became? She never had the best feeling about his mother, even to Phoenix who naturally had quite the attitude, Althesa was much colder. It almost felt like at times, she didn't want Phoenix and Unisha around her children. She never felt quite welcomed. Now she could see why, if she would throw her own son out of the kingdom, she really was completely cold hearted! "...W-Whatever.." She finally said. "Alisa is still my friend, she always will be. She probably didn't want to say, because you know, it was to painful for her to talk about. " It seemed this person was trying desperately to turn them on each other. First trying to make Cloud look bad, now Alisa. What a huge jerk. "You know, this tournament. If you're brave enough, I'd love to beat some sense into you. Heartless jerk.." "Why would anyone do this? " She didn't expect answers, of course, just wondering aloud, it made no sense at all! "..Yes, and it doesn't seem like a place I would hold someone ransom.." A place of family, entertainment and fun, how did they even get in while holding Zack as some kind of hostage? "...Let's go back and inform everyone.." The faster they could get there, the quicker they would be able to save Zack. She certainly believed in everyone to win whatever they had planned.

A once busy area, where many people were walking along the shops, was now completely empty. Well, all but her, that was. There were some noisy ladies, screaming as they ran in another direction, while even a few men seemed to want to put as much distance from them selves, and the silver-haired girl. Every.Single.Person. All of them just ran like terrified sheep, as if she were the most frightening sight they ever saw.
And all she did was tilt her head in curiosity, blink her mako-green eyes and walked slowly! So threatening. She could hear almost all of them yelling something about a "Sephritoh" too, what was there problem? "......" Her attention was brought down to her feet however, as she felt something touch the bottom of her legs, it was soft, furry...and.... a small kitten.
Why did she want to pick it up so badly? ....It was a tiny creature she never seen before, nor did she know anything about it. Still, she found herself reaching down and picking it up gently. "......" She held it up in the air a bit in front of her, staring at the little face and its tiny pink nose. It meowed. "......" That was pretty much all it took for her to take it into her arms, against her chest and hold it close to her body as she gently hugged it. It was even strange how gentle she was with it! The cute little cuddly kitten seemed very content in her warmth, and began to instantly purr away. ...It was love at first sight, and Sephriea was NOT letting anyone get near her new precious...whatever it was!

Having left the mansion quite some time ago, Lilith insured those who were there at the time she would return, and only wanted to learn a little more about the new world she found herself in, so that she could inform her brother once he awoke, it seemed a necessary thing to do in these unknown lands. Learning a bit of how things worked in this city might come in handy a little later on. While she started on her journey to wander the city, her attempt to gather information was going...well enough, though not as pleasantly as she hoped for. This city was very depressing, almost everywhere she went, she would see homeless citizens, sickly or even injured people sitting in what little shelters they could find. Those that were sickly or injured, would be healed or treated by the mysterious blue-haired princess. Considering she had been walking the city for a long while now, long enough that she completely lost track of time herself, the amount of people she healed was certainly becoming well known, people were smiling, others thanking her, and many others grateful to see someone care so much about them. One could only imagine how these people felt, whom ever was in charge of this city, clearly did not care for it's people.

Eventually, she had to take a short rest, and what better place to take that break by the lovely fountain. As she sat down, she glanced into the cascading water for a moment, sighing softly. It wasn't entirely comfortable around this area, the heat was making her feel exhausted, little did she know, she was feeling the same discomfort her brother was feeling back in the mansion, who of course, she didn't know was awake.
She needed to beat this discomfort, or else she could not continue on helping more people! So she would do just that, as her hand reached out to touch the waters surface. At the moment the tip of her finger made that contact, an icy blue wave of magic flowed throughout the water, turning it into solid ice! It would take a few moments for the cold to reach her, and when it finally did, she just smiled, quite satisfied at her quick fix to the hot day!

Rinoa crossed her arms, her stare into those cold green eyes as irritated as she could get. "I can't believe for even a second, I was happy to see you! " He was nothing but a big jerk, once again. Along side him stood his new 'queen', a short young woman with very long pink hair. "Are you really this gullible? Seifer.. Haven't you had enough of being used?! You know that is what she is doing. You are nothing but her pawn, just like before! "

"Shut up! " He reached over, grabbing Rinoa by the neck, only to shove her back harshly, intending to knock her back a bit. "If that is what I am, then I accept. I don't give a damn about anything but what she offered me, and for power, I will accept any fate. " Yes, of course Krul offered him great power, and she could give it to him, there was no doubt there. "Whatever my Queen wishes of me, I will grant. And if you get in my way, don't think I won't kill you. " He said seriously, his cold eyes looking down at her as his lips curled into a twisted smirk. "It hurts, don't it? To know i'm the only face you will see in this world. Heh, and now you end up alone, while I get everything. How the tables have turned.. A world without Squall in it is a perfect one."

There were a lot of questions going on through her head, but none that would ever really get an answer. Nothing was particularly working as far as her brain went, with the amount of worry and confusion flooding into her mind, there was no way she could properly think right now! All she did know was how very alone she was, and how scary everyone and everything was that she didn't know. And guess what? She didn't know anyone. The only source of a safe feeling was the city guard patrolling the area that she was doing a very poor job of secretly following.

Did he know? Of course he did, with small, discreet glances behind him not even Serena realized he knew she was 'stalking' him. The only thing that kept him from reacting in defense was how she appeared. One look at Serena was clear, she was no threat to the world, if anything, the world was a threat to her helplessness. So he went on, continuing on as though he never knew he was being followed as he would take that time to try and figure out exactly WHY she was following.........

And all do to her own clumsiness, he might get some form of information from her when she completely bumped right into him! "...!! -- I'm so sorry...!! " Pulling at the golden laced white veil around her head, as to be sure it was where it needed to be, and covering her little secret, she quickly backed away from the guard, blushing with embarrassment. She was a pretty awkward teenager, and her shyness didn't help her much.

"Ugh.. watching you act so stupidly helpless is making me sick.." Came a most un-pleasant voice of the young blond who seemed to suddenly just....be standing there a little way behind her. She gave her the most annoyed stare down, before a roll of her eyes would plant a little more sinking feeling to the annoying princess. "I'm so sorry..God that sounds so annoying. But then again you were born to be annoying, weren't you? Stupid princess.." Rin's biggest enjoyment in her life was tormenting others, even her so called friends. It didn't matter who they were, everyone was a victim of her terrible attitude.
