Like an idiot, she tried again too soon. How many times had she been told to not repeat an exercise right after injury? How many times had she been told to wait until the muscles relaxed before doing something again? Well, she couldn't remember... and why was that? Probably because she didn't listen. Why didn't she listen? Well, that depended on who was asked. A cousin might say it was because she was too stubborn. Her mother might say it's because she thought she knew it all. Tebiki, sadly, could give reasons to support both of them. One by saying that she believed her body was different and only she would know what to do and not do when she trained, and for the other... why should she go soft on herself and rest all the time? Hopefully she woulod learn from them one day, but chances were she would need to experience many more injuries before getting the picture...

She didn't land on a tree this time, in fact she actually did the somersault decently this time, though a little off balance. It was just a matter of being too soon. After having all of that pressure on her neck at once, and then curving it and putting weight on it again while rolling, though it was just for a second.... it was just a bad thing altogether. Though she still probably wasn't going to rest like she should, at least not yet, she did start to rub at her neck in an attempt to loosen up. She worked at it for a bit.

While she felt she had loosened herself up enough, a normal, experienced person would tell her too keep rubbing and relax... and use ice if available. Well it wasn't available, and she really needed it. This time, she didn't rehurt herself by doing another somersault... instead it was just because she turned her head the wrong way. Such turning of the head resulted in a shrp paon that went from her shoulder, up her neck, and to her ear. That was not comfortable. There was no way in the seven circles of hell that it would ever be considered comfortable. I'm not too sure stretching is good for people... it's not fun... With more mentally grumbling, she sat herself down and just head her head with one hand, squeezing her neck with the other. This is such a pain... literally... I can't just keep sitting here rubbing at myself.

Thinking she was all better, Tebiki got back into her ready position. Down in a crouch, she bent herself forward, just testing to see if she could do it with the neck pains. She felt a little strain, but it was just a little... that meant it should still be fine, right? Thinking this was a go ahead, the idiot blind girl went on with her tumbling and rolled. She felt that same familiar pressure on her neck and winced in pain, not bothering to finish the roll this time. No, she just put all her weight to one side as an immediate action, putting herself on her side, in a ball, on the ground. Why is this not working for me... it's not fair... Now both hands were on her neck, squeezing, as she laid there... It was quite ridiculous now. Her thoughts on how she'd look stupid doing those stretches before... it was probably much worse now, attempting somersaults and failing miserably. She could imagine it now, trying to do another and breaking her neck instead of cramping it... Her family would find her in the forest with glassier eyes than usual. On her gravestone it would say-- Myaku, Tebiki... Loving daughter, niece, and cousin. Annoying brat to others. Died via somersault. R.I.P. The stories of her pathetic training would be passed on from generation to generation as a warning of what to never do.

I am not going to die that way! I will not die so young, never in this miserable place, and there will be no mention of somersaults on my gravestone!

To even suggest such a thing might end up a fatal offense to her later on.

Either that or she'd forget about it later, once she'd moved to another exercise or something.

Still, she was in the here and now, and because of that she was very determined to not have another somersault related injury of any kind. That was why the next few would be her last before moving onto another acrobatic exercise. So, this time, she decided to hold her hand on her neck and she rolled. The pressure went up her arm instead, which mad eit fine. It was incorrect, but she was able to meet her goal nonetheless. Then after a few rolls like that, she started doing it without the support of her arm. It worked, at least this time. So, with her spirits rising, she did it a few more times before getting to her feet again.

Since somersaulting was scratched off of her to-do list for the next ten years, Tebiki decided to move onto something else... perhaps handstands? With that, she was less likely to injure herself by stretching something, but much more likely to hurt herself by falling and landing on something hard and sharp. Worth the risk? Of course! But... how did she start? I've seen people on their hands, even walking around and stuff... but how do they get there in the first place? She bent down and put her hands to the ground like in her previous stretchesand then... tried putting her weight on it. Though, for the moment it just looked like she was sticking her rump in the air for no apparent reason. And up I go... She gave herself a push, got her self up, but she was off balance and flopped on her back. Damn it.

She frowned at the sky, and the leafy branches between her and it. How do crazy people get on their hands and stay that way? She sat up and then stood up, bending over as she had before... but, frowning at the ground, she knew she wwasn't going to get it doing it that way. At least not at first. So, she crouched as if attempting a somersault again, though when she put her head to the ground, she widened the "stance" of her arms and then slowly propped herself up. Ugh... so this is what it's like standing on your head.

While she stood there, on her head, she started to feel tghe rush of blood... how did she feel this? It got way too hot down there is what it was. So, easily shifting her weight to her legs, which were still curled up, she landed back into the crouching psoition and relieved her head of the many pressures. Now, if only he could do that again, but with her legs sticking up, instead of curled towards her body as they had been before. It would require more balance, but she figured she could do it, right? So, after the blood drained from her cheeks, she put her head to the ground again, and then stood on her head. The next step, stretching out the legs. Now, this was harder than it seemed. During that stretching process, if the legs went one way or another, the rest of the body wopuld follow them, and that happened several times. When that didn't happen, it would be because she took too long getting them up and had to retreat anyway, due to the blood rush.

Eventually she got her sense of ablance and managed to straighten her legs in a quick enough manner so she wouldn't hurt herself, she just had to do it enough to keep it locked into muscle memory... whatever that was. She just heard it was something that happened if you repeated an action enough... maybe. The next step, though, would be the hardest. Most of the pressure was going to her head, though it was eased a bit by her arms. She had to make it so that it was only her arms... meaning after stretching her legs, she had to stretch her arms, too. She had to put all that weight on her poor little hands...

While walking on her hands was not her goal, at leats standing on them properly was. Then she might go to the walking stage another day. That all depended on how well she was actually able to do the standing portion. Getting into that now familiar crouching position, she got on her head, stretched out her legs, and now... started to stretch out her arms. It was hard! She couldn't help it, her arms trembled under the weight like a straw trying to hold up a meat ball. It just wasn't working, and every time she got an inch upwards, she had to sink back down. At one point, she managed to force herself up a bit, but the trembling got so bad, that her weaker arm bent under the weight, sending her tumbling to the side. Fully on the ground at that point, the most she could do was hold her arms as it throbbed.

She refused to call it giving up, but she did finnally give in to the urge of just laying there. Stupid throbbing arm... stupid somewhat throbbing neck... With quite the disgruntled expression, she stared off at the bushes from her place in the dirt. It wasn't the most comfortable option at the moment, but it would do. She didn't want to spend the energy trying to sit up... or to find a more comfortable spot to rest. At least not right now. Still, the sticks, rocks, and roots lodged under her back were getting more uncomfortable by the minute... Maybe I should move... As she debated, things did seem to stack in the favor of moving rather than staying. She was in an uncomfortable position, there were plenty of hard objects under her that made laying there uncomfortable, the arm she was laying on was falling asleep. Verses, she just didn't feel like moving... Yeah, that wasn't too much of an opposing force, right? She could just make herself feel like getting up.

She slowly pushed herself up.

She slowly scooted herself forward.

Giving up, she not so slowly put herself back on the ground.

Maybe next time...

Closing her eyes, she worked on just focusing on nothing... because nothing was more relaxing than everything else that day. Also, not wanting to do something was a much harder foe to face than she originally anticipated.

So, her motivation was obviously lacking. Obviously. Though that lack was easily covered by the blissful dark that came over her as she closed her eyes and just laid there. After a little while, it seemed like the throbbing was easing up... she could remove her hand from the injured area and all seemed well. For now anyway. All she had to do to ruin it all was tyr her exercise again and fall over. Taking in a deep breath, she exhaled with a sigh and opened her eyes. It wasn't too bright out, the was a slight breeze, all in all it was a good day. Most her age would be using such fine weather to go about the town and hang out with friends. Did that make her strange? It was possible, but then again, most kunoichi her age were already graduated from the academy and did training in their sleep.

Slowly moving herself once again, this time she was able to successfully push herself up and into a sitting position. That was the most she would do. There was no need to scoot herself intot he shade or anything. Instead, putting herself in the familiar cross-legged position, she put her elbos to her knees and rested her head in her palms. From there she returned to the darkness, but enjoyed the sounds of nature while she was at it.

In that position, Tebiki could feel her back loosen and adjust for better comfort. Every time she lifted her head, she had to touch her fingers to her palms, or to eachother. It was an odd thing, the need to touch... but it was relaxing. Perhaps it was an age old after effect of what her clan used to deal with, all of those annoying twitches and involuntary movements. Rubbing her hands and fingers seemed unvoluntary, with the way she never noticed it utnil she was already doing it. If she metnned it, though, it would simply be brushed off as a habit, not an actual twitch. Fine with her, though. Habit meant it was normal, twitchiness was not... unless you were hopped up on caffine and sugar all the time. She'd seen a squirrel like that once, or it at least appeared to be like that. A shudder ran down her spine, popping a few vertibrae on accident. Oooooh... that felt goood.... She slouched a bit, putting her chin in a palm and waited for a while longer. She was enjoying just sitting there, though she knew she'd have to get to work again soon.

With another sigh, she sat up again, no longer slouching. It didn't last long though, as she, instead, put her arms back behind her and leaned back instead. She felt a bit of tightness in one shoulder, but after a while, she either got used to it or it eased away. I need to finish up the hand stand things, and then what? Can't try walking on ym hands yet, so need to do something else... then I can stop with that... But she didn't know what to do quite yet. Could always practice my stances or something later, work on kicks or punches. Hmmm... haven't tried working on sneaking yet... that would be fun... then I might be able to get into heheh... palces i'm not supposed to go... What places were those? The bar was one, and she'd get in more trouble than it was worth by ding that. She couldn't go where another of her clan would see her... and they could see very far. It was almsot unfortunate, except she would one day be using the same methods that they would. Well, I'll figure out what to do as I get to it... now, finishing hand stands is the priority. With a turtle-like ease, she got t her feet and rolled her shoulders, then rolled her neck. She was finally ready to go again...

She was obviously way over her head in attempting to do simply gymnastics. of course it would probably help her a bit more if she could actually see the stuff she was going to run into or fall of top of... might give her a little incentive to just not do it... or at least work harder at not falling. Not that she was trying to hurt herself, but it was a little hard to be careful when you didn't know your surroundings very well, which was ironic because most people that didn't know what was around them tended to be the most careful and least likely to get into any sort of accidents. Maybe Tebiki was just an exception to this. She was the exception that proved the rule, or however the other kids were saying it these days. Still, at least this time she didn't hurt herself by overexerting her arms. Nope, she just lost balance and went tumbling off to the side like a nrmal peron, getting a pointy stick jabbed into her ribs... because that was sooo much better. Rolling her eyes, she got to her knees and then back up on her feet, rubbing the new sore spot. She was going to start kicking every rock a stick she landed on if she didnt start making any progress. Kicking things made her feel better.

She kicked a few rocks out of her way, anyway. It wasn't like she wa shurting anyone by doing so, and she might have even done a favor for anyone else who wanted to tumble around in her general area. Of course, knowing her luck, she'd either end up falling on them again, assuming she either moved towards them on accident or they grew legs and just loved being near her, or there were other hard and spikey things she hadn't found yet to kick away and would soon land on them instead. Though, she decided not to think too much on that because it would only further distract her from actually completing her task. She was determined to actually make it this time... and she would if she had any say about it.

Crouching down again, she put her head to the ground and lifted her body up, getting her balance as she had before. Then, with ease, she uncurled and lifted her legs, stretching them up to "touch the sky" as her arms had done in previous exercises. Now the hard part...arms still a little bit shakey, she slowly pushed against the ground, lifting her body upwards an inch, and then another. It felt a little wierd to not have anything touching her head right then, and though she wobbled a bit, she worked on her height and balance as much as she could before toppling over. Then she tried again, and again, and again. It was still a weak start, but she was doing better. she'd have to work on her muscle strength in the arms, maybe use a tree branch later and do some pull ups or something. Either way, she was working against gravity.

Alrighty, up I get... and a one, and a two... and a... three!

She pushed herself up into that upside-down standing position, the lower half of her body swaying somewhat from side to side. She was working on centering herself. Alrighty, just keep it up... no need to fall now. Her elbows were still a little bit bent, but she was making good progress. Just a little further, don't fall... not now... we're so close... so so very close... She just needed that last couple of inches and nthen to hold herself up for a bit... then she would be satisfied. Then it would be all good and she could move on. That wasn't too much to ask, and because it wasn't she finally pushed herself those next couple inches to reach full height. There, she did it, and it was glorious! Now, now all she had to do was get down. She froze there, uncertain of her next move. Her arms tembled with every passing second. How did one gracefully get back down? She couldn't just fall-... or she definately could.

She probably jinxed herself. She kept thinking about possibly falling, and look what happened. She fell, right on her back. Luckily it wasn't on a rock or root like what normally happened, but the impact was still hard enough to hurt. Now she was flat on her back, arms stretched out above her head, and legs stretched out in a similar manner. Strands of hair had been pulled from her pony tail, laying across her eyes. Tebiki took a deep breath, and tried to blow them off with a 'Poof.' To her frustraition they just came back, only it felt more irritation than it had previously...

She just stared...

"Yeah, I'm done with that now."

So, while she ended her last attempt at hand standing on a bad note, she was wanting to try something new.She wanted to add heights to the mix, but what to do with such an idea? She wanted to try doing flips... because it must be absolutely easy to find a low enough tree branch, and get enough momentum to even swing back and forth, while not being able to see very well. Did she forget that brak was kinda rough, and swinging on that stuff was likely to tear up her hands before she'd even make it halfway up the branch on the swing? She wasn't really thinking about that at the time and was instead just looking for that low-ish branch to swing on like a monkey. This required her to go further into the grove than shye wanted, but she figured as long as she was close enough to where she had been, she wouldn't get lost... this time. So, tripping over stray roots here and there, she continued her search.
