Rico is imprisoned. I must make sure he doesn't die. But how? I can't go barge in and order his release. I better think of something. Xander frowned. Thinking wasn't a good idea, feeling his headache again. "Rico?" Xander asked surprised. He had to act his surprise. He had to pretend not to know anything of this assassination. "Are you sure? Why would Rico plan such a thing? And what about the other marksman? I need to talk with Rico. As soon as possible." Xander said, he would walk out of bed, if his wounds hadn't prevented this. "After those are healed..."

"How's she doing?" Vince asked Kaname as he slipped into Amaya's room. "She's still unconsious." Kaname replied sadly. "So is Dariya. The strikers haven't moved at all..." Vince sighed as he shook his head. "What are we going to do?..." He groaned.

After resting up for a while, Xander could stay in his bed any longer. He decided to stretch his legs and walk for a bit. His wounds weren't fully healed, but Xander felt like he could walk without reopening the wounds. I better think things out before I meet Roran. I guess I'll tell him the same story I told Erika. Lie again. Only untill I spoke with Rico. That reminds me to make sure they don't kill him. Xander was walking around in the castle, not that any of the servants was surprissed, seeing how Xander acted weird for some time now.
((I hope this will do! wink Sorry again, I'll try to post whenever I'm online BEFORE I decide to game... sweatdrop ))

Sitting on his throne, he had whisked all guards out of the room, only wishing to be disturbed by royalty of either kingdom or urgent matters. "Xander, I don't understand you one bit," he spoke to the air, no one else in the room presently. "Why? You loved to fight, you loved to fight the Kerosians, you could take your anger out. Why did you jump in the way of your chance to be King immediatly, of your chance to have an enemy nearby again." Standing rather abruptly, he paced up and down the area in front of the throne. "Rico...Rico had been responsible. How could Rico just vanish without you ever taking notice once? Sure, someone like Joseph can vanish, but Joseph's little vanishing acts are always noticable. When he never answers, you know he's gone, or he'll abruptly emerge from the shadows. But how could Rico slip under your nose all this time he's served you. How?" He never stopped the pacing, but he did quit talking. None of it was adding up to him. Xander had known too much about it in his opinion, but then he hadn't seemed to know enough to actually be accused of taking apart in the act of treason. THis was to Roran's relief. He didn't want to execute his own brother in front of the kingdom. Hell, he didn't want to execute his brother at all.

Hearing Roran was seen heading for the throne room, Xander walked towards it, thinking about what recently happened. Seeing the guards stand outside, he wasn't sure if Roran wanted to be disturbed, but when he approached the doors the guards didn't stop him. Of course, he wouldn't tell the guards not to keep me out. Well, let's get this over with. Knocking on the door as he slowly opened it, he walked in. Ready to explain everything to him and hopefully convince Roran that he could talk to Rico. Since Rico was his guard Xander believed that seeing him wouldn't be a problem. Meanwhile in Syra, Xander's army had returned to their barracks. Their officer the third in command of the army next to Xander and Rico, headed for the castle. To have a word with Xander concerning their next move.

Looking up when the doors open, he had been startled and was about to tell the guards to leave. Then his eyes found Xander and he immediatly turned towards him. "Xander." He looked his brother up and down, he seemed okay enough. Taking his seat, he had chairs out there for Xander to use. "I'll let you explain first. I don't understand everything and would like to. For instance, how you knew it would happen, and why you didn't tell the guards? Xander you could've died!"

Xander smiled and took a seat. "You should know by now that I'm difficult to kill, though they got me good." He placed his hand over the wounds. They still hurt, but if Xander didn't overdo it, they would heal. "Now then, I shall explain as to why I didn't inform the guards. When you told me where the wedding would be held, I left to find it. I left the evening before the wedding, so that he next day, I wouldn't get lost. After asking the direction, I arrived at the place. I walked around when I saw some men. They were cloaked, so I wanted to see if they were our men or Kerosians preparing the wedding. I found them a bit suspicious. When they saw me they fled in the forest. I ran after them, but couldn't find them. That's when I thought they might be up to something during the wedding. I examined the spot where I saw them and this was near the hill. I returned to the castle to rest. The next morning I left earlier to check the hill. If I saw those men again, I could find out what was going on. Though, I searched near the hill, only to find no trace of them. That's why I didn't alarm any guards. Because what's the use of alarming them if I can't tell them what to look out for. Then the wedding began, but I still stayed alerted. I kept an eye on the hill and its surroundings to spot those men. Eventually I saw them, while they were loading crossbows. Even if I did alarmed the guards, they still would have fired. Instead, I tried to deflect the bolts, but it seemed they weren't ordinairy bolts they fired." Xander sighed, creating a brief silence. "Atleast you and Amaya still got married. O and about Rico. I wish to talk to him before... his execution." This last was hard for Xander to say. He knew that an assassintion attempt on royalty mostly was punished with dead. It was hard to say, because Rico would recieve this punishment, while Xander made the plan up.

Hearing him out, he sighed. It still made no sense to him. "Before we get into anything about talking to Rico, we aren't done here." Looking at his brother, he didn't speak for a moment or two. "I see you've thought about this. The thing that doesn't make sense, is that you didn't know what to tell the guards to look for. Did you not just say you had spotted them the day before when you went to find where the location of the wedding would be? If you saw them, and chased them into the forest as you've explained, wouldn't you have been able to tell the guards what they were wearing, and the hill they had been at? And even once you did see the men on the hill, you could've told the guards who could've protected us instead of you." Roran didn't know if Xander had made the story up or not, but he was contradicting himself. He hoped the story wasn't all made up, because he had already lost some hope that Xander hadn't been involved. Just tell the truth to me, please.

"The men I saw where cloaked in capes, their faces hidden in a hood. They could be poacher for all I knew or a small group of bandits. I didn't had any proofonly a suspicious feeling. So, even if I told the guards, the captain in charge for security would have nothing to warn his men for. Only a group of cloaked bandits. As for the hill, I only saw them near it. It was only when I saw them loading their crossbows I figured what was going on. By then, they were ready to fire, so even if I warned the guards, they would have never stepped in between you two and the assassins. The only way to prevent you two getting hit was by stepping in between myself. I was the closest person standing near you, that saw what was about to happen. It was more a reaction to jump in between." Xander feared Roran didn't buy his story. His story wasn't flawless, but it still could have happened that way. He knew Roran knew his brother well, yet it seemed he didn't believe the story Xander was telling. It seemed as if he knew of the conspiracy. What reason had he not to believe him? Would he rather have Xander telling him what really was going on the whole time? No, Xander wouldn't tell him. Not yet anyway. If he did, then not only he, but his entire army would be found guilty of treason. He couldn't do that. No matter what, he could never tell the truth, the full truth. "It's just... This is the most important day for both kingdoms. The peace deoends on this. I couldn't risk the wedding getting postphoned or delayed. If I had told you that evening, that I saw a group of cloaked persons that ran away when I approached them, what would you have done? Or what would you tell me to do?"

Roran did buy it the second time. This time it had made sense. He's right. If he had told the guards, I'd be surprised if they didn't just toss it aside and not worry about it at all. And he was the closest to us towards the hill. As Xander continued though, Roran's eyes widened a little. Hearing the questions, it took him another moment or two to speak again. "If you had told me, I would've sent a group of the top guards we had to check things out. If they didn't find anything at all, I'd say we continue with the wedding, but I'd post guards around the perimeter of the wedding, spreading them out at a farther distance. If they dd find something, I'd postpone it. But before we continue, I have more to say."
Taking a deep breath, he began slowly. "The peace does depend on our wedding. But if I'm not mistaken, I thought you'd rather fight. As far as I knew, you, like our father, would much rather take Keros by force and expand Syra's borders. Am I wrong? Because if I'm right, wouldn't you want the wedding postponed? Wouldn't you want the wedding to just get canceled?" Roran knew that the only thing left to accuse him of would be treason by conspiring with the assassins. He didn't want to go there, and prayed Xander's story would make full sense.
