Bizarre incidents at Travel Host
By The Williston Herald

Aaron John David Sadowski of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, 30, was returned to the custody of U.S. Border Patrol officials after a series of bizarre incidents at the Travel Host Motel Saturday morning.

Around 9:30 a.m., Sadowski had reportedly wrecked a room at the hotel. Later, he was found wielding a live chain saw and performing a "Kung Fu" type dance outside the hotel. He then was carrying an axe around and continued his odd behavior, witnesses reported.

Authorities were called. Sadowski reportedly got in his car, and a high-speed chase ensued. Sadowski was reportedly stopped and taken into custody along the 600 Block of Second Street West.

Sadowski was wanted by the U.S. Border Patrol prior to the incidents and chase for illegal entry into the United States.

No estimate was available about the damage to the hotel room.

BERLIN (Reuters) - A German court has ruled that Mercedes must release a man from a car lease deal after a dispute over whether he was too heavy to drive the luxury vehicle, Bild newspaper reported on Tuesday.

Mercedes refused to release the insurance salesman from a lease agreement on his S-320 CDI model, arguing the multiple car breakdowns caused by his weight were insufficient grounds to break the deal.

But the Stuttgart court ruled in favour of the salesman, named only as Frank S., apparently on the grounds that the car should have been able to take his weight.

Frank S. was told that at 160 kg (352 pounds) he weighed twice as much as the average driver, Bild said.

"They told me that I was too fat for the car because the seat was broken," he told Bild, in a story next to a picture of the east German squeezing behind the steering wheel of the model Bild said was worth 65,000 euros (44,400 pounds).

"I could hardly fit behind the steering wheel ... Then I had to take the car back to the shop for repairs 13 times for 21 different malfunctions in the first 20,000 km."

The 37-year-old said he got fed up and wanted to return the car but Mercedes refused to release him from his lease contract.

A court in Stuttgart ruled that DaimlerChrysler had to let him out of the agreement.

The salesman, who switched to a Volkswagen, would sue to get back the leasing payments he made, Bild said.

This can only end in tears...

Dad takes teen daughter and friends out for birthday party, stops at ATM, sends in one girl inside to teller with hold-up note "as a prank." Hilarity ensues.

Practical Joke Gone Wrong

(AP) SAVANNAH, Ga. Michael Lyons apparently had a funny practical joke planned for daughter’s birthday. In the end, no one was laughing—especially Lyons.

Lyons, 45, was arrested after he told a 13-year-old girl to hand a note to a bank teller, police said. The note said, "Give me all of your money, this is a stick up," according to a police report.

The incident happened Friday when Lyons and a group of girls were celebrating his daughter's birthday. While he was getting money out of an ATM, the girl went into the bank and handed the note to a teller.

The teller sounded the bank's alarm, and police and FBI surrounded the building. Instead of robbers, they found Lyons and the girls.

Lyons was charged with criminal attempt of robbery by intimidation, said Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police spokesman Bucky Burnsed.

"You can't yell 'fire' in a crowded theater, can't joke about a bomb in your luggage at the airport, and you can't write notes to cashier that say 'This is a stick up,'" Burnsed said.

An Illinois auto museum is offering $1 million for the car in which actor James Dean died in 1955. The car's whereabouts are currently unknown.

Dean crashed the 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder on Sept. 30, 1955 on a California highway. The badly wrecked car was purchased by car customizer George Barris, who created the customized 1949 Mercury that Dean drove in the movie, "Rebel Without a Cause."

Barris is famous for creating the Batmobile from the 1960s "Batman" TV series as well as the Munster Koach used in the series "The Munsters," and several other TV and movie cars.

Barris had also customized the Porsche for Dean, adding the number "130" and the nickname "Little b*****d" on the back of the car.

Barris sent the wrecked Porsche around the country as part of a police safety demonstration. The car disappeared shortly after one such demonstration in Florida.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Dean's death, the Volo Auto Museum in Volo, Ill., is exhibiting artifacts from the crash including a passenger-side door from the car. The Museum says it will pay $1 million for the car, if someone will come forward to sell it.

To be eligible for the $1 million payment, the car will have to be authenticated by Barris, the museum said in an announcement.

The price would not be an unreasonable amount for a museum to pay for the car, said McKeel Hagerty, president of Hagerty Insurance a company that insures collectible cars.

Ordinarily, a 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder, in nearly pristine shape, would sell for about half as much, he said.

Man narrowly avoids winning Darwin Award after successfully dislodging a round stuck in his gun using a screwdriver. Naturally, man did this while the gun was pointing at him

An area man was rushed to St. Agnes Hospital on Tuesday afternoon after a pistol he was working on accidentally discharged, striking him in the abdomen, according to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department.

The incident happened at a residence along Highway 151 north of Fond du Lac shortly before 3:30 p.m.

The man, authorities said Tuesday night, called 911 to report the accidental shooting. He remained conscious while talking to dispatchers.

Authorities said that the man was using a screwdriver and apparently trying to dislodge a round from the chamber of the pistol when the weapon discharged, with the bullet striking him in the abdomen.

Further details of the incident were not available late Tuesday.
