Lollipop Fiend Because it's like, 5 AM and I'm bored. Nothing like ruffling up some Twilight feathers to satisfy a need. That actually does sound amusing.

From what I've seen in the past, starting an RP in anyone else's thread with the only intent behind it to ruffle peoples' feathers and screw with them is a very bad idea. x_x
Also, WHY AM I STILL AWAKE!?
Last night I wake up at 9 pm and I say to myself, "This is the last straw. I'm going to beat this insomnia."
So I stay up for the rest of the day so that I can sleep at a good time.
Only problem is...I overshot my goal.
Instead of sleeping at a more reasonable time, I DIDN'T SLEEP AT ALL! It's 5 pm! @_@ A whole day of fighting the urge to sleep ruined.
It's like fighting having to pee and then ending up not being able to pee when you want to.
It's like trying to get to the moon, but going so far you end up missing it and crashing into the sun.
It's like...
...yeah, yeah, I'm out of similes.

I've entered threads with out any intentions of doing anything bad and still have people jump on me looking for a fight. I figure this time around I better beat them to the punch.

Yeah, I remember those days. And I can't say they weren't amusing, since I remember a lot of the godmodder vampire/demon types who would just see a human character and go nuts. I found it so amusing I actually tried to bait that reaction.
But nowadays I realize that those kinds of RPs are useless. It doesn't further storyline, and most of the time godmodder types will never accept defeat and keep acting like they're the strongest in the world, no matter how much you thwart their attacks. That, and I figured too many of them took RP too...seriously. ._. Like they'd really hate you if you fought them in RP as if we actually were our characters.
So I don't really go around Commerce much anymore as I used to. o.o

It furthers the story line if your character slays bad guys for a hobby. ^-')b
But yeah, people do take RP a little too seriously. But I suppose that's because writing is such an intimate process, we all get a bit flustered when things aren't going as smooth as we'd hope.

I wouldn't say that.
That may be my character's hobby, but I can't just force people into that dynamic. ._. It's rude. ...Well...unless they're just being jerks to people...then I gues how I see they can be made an example of....
But anywho, I mean less about the writing as an intimate process thing, though that does lead to some problems (mostly when people get overly upset about losing a post, or people being offended simply at people who post a paragraph in size). I mean more of a "I'm not playing a game, I'm escaping my life and assuming a new identity" sort of thing. You end up meeting a lot of people who are convinced that they have their own world where they're the most special and everyone that bugs them in life isn't. Not that creating a fantasy world doesn't have it's benefits...I mean, look at George Lucas or Chris Metzen. But when you trap yourself in that world to escape your life, it's just not a healthy way of dealing with your problems.
...
...Wait, how the hell did I get on this subject? ._.
Please ignore me. ._. I'm losing my mind due to lack of sleep. I really should be going now.

I like the whole idea of open RPs because well, you can force people into your dynamic. It's kind of like real life in that sense. Somebody creates an establishment where people voluntarily enter with their motives set. I might go into a McDonalds because I just want a cheap milkshake, but I'm going to have to do deal with the idiot who walks in to hit on me. If I don't feel like being bothered I just ask him to leave me alone, like I would in an RP. The only difference is Gaia has an ignore button...lol
But you know, a lot of people do get pissed off when you play characters who don't want to be everybody's friend. When you play characters who might be a bit moody. I dunno why everybody expects everybody to be all buddy buddy. Maybe I should stop randomly popping up in brothel friends or something.
But I can certainly understand why some people would see this as more than a game and an escape from real life and get upset if you try to ruin their story. I wouldn't say it's unhealthy as long as you don't begin to ignore your obligations outside of that fantasy world. But if you reeeeally wanted the perfect fantasy world for you to have sex with out consequences all the time in a body you could never imagine to posses, you probably shouldn't RP in an open thread lol..

*Receives hugs*

*Pushes button*
???
PROFIT!!
Also -> Since the topic seems to be heading towards Rp in general and how threads outside guilds have been awkward as of recent... I play as the highly moody character all the time. In fact, most of the people I meet in the community threads tend to stay away from me when they realize I have a persona.
D8 As if that was an odd thing to see. A character having life in an Rp setting that can share their world?! Blasphemy! Madness!
*Punts* All I can say is that it would take a while for people to realize that Rp should stay just as Rp. And shouldn't be mixed too much with Real life. Otherwise, what's the difference between the two in the end?

The Darth Vizzle It was Drunken Boxing. The style of any drunken master is drunken boxing. And if you're Jackie Chan, then like 60 percent of that s**t is improv. I wasnt talking about Jackie Chan's style in the movie. I fault myself for not explicitly stating who though. The guy Jackie was fighting at the end of the movie. The one who used alot of tricky kicks in his manuvering. As for takedowns, korean tae does teach ways how to stay out of range of assualts and leave false openings for those who like to grapple. I was also taught how to get out of grapples by my master. But I do understand what you are saying about its weakness due to lack of emphasis on that aspect.
