FIRST, HB, of course I'm not going to think or say anything negatively about or to you if you decide not to take my oh so hardly learned advice. I ONLY offer it out of concern, and affection, and that's not going to go away just because you don't take it-k?

Second....Ari--I'm 90% sure you didn't MEAN to, but you spoke very eloquently and truly...I think your subconscious mind laid that out beautifully...and my heart goes out to you....because obviously, something hit "close to home" and you are responding out of pain. groan....I know a LOT about how much better anger feels than pain.

You are entirely correct. The decision to have sex while still in High School or younger--is completely out of selfish desire...it IS about being used, and using. All we are saying when we say that someone is too young to marry is that they're too young to commit to a lifelong relationship....or to put it slightly more bluntly, they're too young to be monogamous. That's what I was referring to when I said she was being set up for HPV. Because unless she stays with HB--for the rest of her life...then what? If she/he can't marry at 15, or 16, or 17--it's even very unlikely at 18 or 19...if this relationship lasts mere months, or weeks--what then? What will she be doing at 16? and 17--I think you know....once we've decided to have sex--it's HIGHLY addictive, how many CAN stop?

Putting aside for the moment, that I don't believe that's strictly true that 15 is too young to be monogamous....(I've got at LEAST one ancestor I know of who got married at 14 to a 16 year old boy...WITH permission from her parents, as she was eloping to avoid going on the "Trail of Tears"--She was Cherokee...and they stayed married for all their lives...but it was a completely different society than we have now....our society encourages rampant promiscuity...and it IS a shame!

HB says he'll support offspring--but without a college degree--TRUST me that ain't easy! Babies are EXPENSIVE in every single way--time first and foremost, and then patience wise--because they REQUIRE parents to put themselves last--and yeah, money wise too...unless you're gonna wash cloth diapers by hand, either a service or the disposables alone are dauntingly expensive--and they grow quickly and require regular (as in monthly) doctor's visits.

chou and bit were NOT implying that you are too dumb to work anywhere but a burger joint...but that a baby requires the Dad to be employed....and places that employ full time students are NOT generally high paying...even if they're available....and if a baby enters the picture it is even MORE important that one's education be as high as possible, so that one's choices are as wide as possible....because the kind of pressures put on a couple by a newborn are TREMENDOUS...and adding financial and time difficulties to that--kills most such relationships that are not bound by marriage--and even many that are.

Exercising the self discipline needed to put off sex, helps exercise the self discipline that will be needed to parent...and what doesn't get exercised, atrophies...and isn't there when it's needed.

GAH! Prom came early this year. It's this Friday. Dang it. I'm lucky my Aunt was nice enough to get everything for me but.....It's like last second crazyness.
