The thing about your ice skating ability is that it's a bit above a passive ability. You're practically making ice as you move away similar to what Iceman from Xmen does. Now, this move doesn't really need any type of charges because it's instant and it's mainly affecting you. And because you state it's passive, then that means it takes little effort to use. However, if a passive ability is doing more than just buffing you or is affecting the terrain in someway, such as you creating ice like that, then it's more active than passive.

I clearly am going to write a more detailed description of these types of attacks, but I fear making the roleplay too technical in mechanics, and I don't like that. They'll mostly be guidelines, meaning they aren't set in stone, but it's good to take them into consideration.

Hmm...so, would it be more balanced then if I shift it up to Tier 1 charges? D: The initial ice skating ability was to help increase my mobility, and leaving small ice around was to deter any possible rushes if I need to make a hasty maneuver. While it's suppose to be passive given that it doesn't do anything against the opponent...well, it can always be modified more accordingly then. >_>;

Wow, she really was pressuring Snow. I would definitely like to see her and Tenkai fight. Their styles are almost too similar in terms of Japanese influence. And that "wrap" technique she did was amazing, combing western style with her eastern style. Astounding.

Guh. gonk All I could remember from that was HOSHI-
And then being thrown into disarray/confusion from her attacks. Makes me realize that I need to work more on close quarter fights, and get better on weapon combats. Obviously, real world experience goes a long way in making an attack more effective when Rping. Dx

Also -
If people want to see weapon combat, then WEAPON COMBAT IT SHALL BE!

Seena really did show that she knew what she was doing. I was astonished.

As for the skating ability, yes, at least use it as an ability to charge.

Well, from what I've gathered when we were fighting, she had some years of experience with Kendo and weapon combat in RL. Does explain a lot, after getting hit by those attacks.

...
Though the physical scars don't go away that easily after that spar...>_>;

Well, Vin, I just want to let you know that I can't post until Fierach contacts me so we can work out a few minor issues, so I hope that doesn't severely count against me in judging or what-not.

Done and done.

Honestly, after skimming that fight, I might start incorporating alot of taekwondo into my rps. Thats the only martial art I was actually formally taught in. The my other three are self taught (well learned a bit of shodokan -sp?- from my father.)

... There hasn't been taekwondo used in my fight. A flaming uppercut and a dodge counter breath weapon isn't that special.

The only martial arts I've ever really incorporated into my roleplaying, would be some premises of Muay Thai, same of boxing. Something I'd be interested to have a better IC and OOC understanding of would be Judo, however.

I have yet to see anyone use taekwondo in an rp fight. It might be an interesting thing to see. However, Im not sure if it would be wise to try it now being that I have never tried to put it into play before. Like you said Omi, all I use is Muay Thai in close proximity if it gets to that. This is my first time making a character who dwells primarily on getting close even though his long to mid range abilities are probbaly superior due to my experience in using it. So far it hasnt done me too bad this way in the tournament.

Deitric's martial art is fictional. Hawk and Fox doesn't exist (though it is a play on the name of two tribes, Sauk and Fox).

But it has a lot of inspirations. Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, Apache knife fighting, tomahawk fighting, escrima stick fighting, pankration, probably other stuff. It's more of a militant style, like Systema or Krav Maga. Used in stand-up fights against an opponent, with a lot of emphasis on getting the drop on them, or defending yourself in such a situation, and ending the fight quickly.

It also relies very heavily on improvisation, because it's built around night combat and ambushing. So it's not a strict martial art in the Eastern sense.

Deitric's grappling ability comes from my experience in Greco-Roman and Freestyle wrestling; it makes it easier to apply than something I've never partaken in, like Muay Thai or Kung Fu.

I personally try to use Muay Thai alot even though Im not too well versed with it. Between that and jujitsu, I dont know which is more interesting to read.

Because it isn't useful in a real fight either.

A friend of mine did seven years of Tae, before giving Muay Thai a shot. After only three months of Thai he said: "Taekwondo is pretty flashy, but it's designed for tournaments where after one hit you stop and go back to your own side of the mat. The only thing that I really learned from seven years of it was how to kick."

A good skill to learn, for sure, but not worth seven years when you can learn it in much less time with a useful discipline.

I think the most useful martial art would be learning Make Money Fu. That way when you get on the Billionaire's List you can join the Evil Club to purchase a bomb strong enough to blow up all of Europe.

I'd like to see your Muay Thai compete with that.
